[MOC] Mini A-Wing and its vignette

TWP, you wrote : As I explained it in my precedent post, I cannot apply all of them, for practical reasons. That is why I tried to make it better by adding reactors, which avoid better proportions and give a better back section, IMO. There will not be a V3, just a V1, with its "Chibi" look, and a V2, more realistic .
  2. Hi everyone, I present you here my latest MOC : A Mini A-Wing and its 4x4 vignette. The vignette could be te city of the Executor, or the surface of the Death Star II or of a Star Destroyer. Technically, it is not difficult : the sides, the front, the reactors, the cockpit are attached thanks to two bricks 1x1 with 4 knobs. The vignette uses plates modified, plates with grille, bars. The proportions are bad, especially on the back, but all the elementsof an A-Wing are there. Because of the size, I cannot incude all the characteristical shapes of that starfighter, but it is not a huge problem. This A-Wing does not look bad for a Mini, it has a kind of "chibi" look. Because the modes is elevated with a 1x4 bar, in some perspectives, you have the impression that it really flies, which is a quite sympatic. For bigger photos, the Bricksafe and the Brickshelf gallery of the MOC. Don't hesitate to give suggestions or to share your opinion about it.

[MOC] Mini A-Wing and its vignette

Markus and BEAVeR, I'm glad you like it ! BEAVeR, you said : I will not change the colour schedule. Adding some red on the sides would break the contrast between them and the body. Also, I prefer red to dark red for this Mini. I have to fix he back section of the cockpit on a black 1x2 plate, so I cannot change a lot there. I already had try your idea with the 1x3 pate for the reactors : the problem is that the back seems too large, although the alignement looks better. But still, thanks to your comment, they helped me to reworked it slightly. I really wanted to have good reactors and a back part for the cockpit. So here is the V2 : I use DBG binoculars for the reactors, wich meant that I needed longer wings, so I used white 2x3 plates instead of 1x3, and the result is IMO better. The building techniques did not change. Without the red 1x3 plate, the engines couldn't stand, but it meant that I couldn't have a 1x1 plate with horizontal clip to let my MOC "fly" over the vignette. So I had to rework the vignette and now, it is possible to expose the A-Wing with and without its stand. Which version do you prefer, and what do you think about the improvement ?

[MOC] Mini A-Wing and its vignette

Thanks for your comments ! I designed the A-Wing in october 2013, But the vignette in april 2014. I took inspiration of the building technique of this Mini A-Wing, made by Red 5. With the vignette, mine has 48 pieces. As you can see, I prefered to use slopes for the nose, I have a different colour Schedule, cockpit and back section.

    MOC UCS Imperial AT-AT

Sure, compromises are always necessary when you build in Lego, and particularly in UCS-scale. But there are functions and characteristics some models absolutely need to have. Is an AT-AT without the ability of reproducing the positions of an AT-AT still an AT-AT ? Cavegods and yours don’t have articulations, but it’s not really a problem. They “seem” too walk, and to have a realistic position, which is not the fact with this MOC. You could use these pieces (assembled) for the knees, which should be strong enough :http://media.peeron.com/pics/inv/custpics/44224.jpg http://media.peeron....tpics/44225.jpg. I have to admit that I never build an AT-AT, so I probably don’t have a good impression of the weight of it. But still, give a try whit those pieces when you build the model with bricks. When you build with lego, textures are very important. In UCS-scale, you don’t have to rebuild exactly the whole model, because you are limited with the existing lego pieces. You need to think lego, not like the model you are MOCing. What looks good on the model can look bad in lego, and the other way round. In this case, empty surfaces on a huge model are not really interesting. But as you said, Fuppylodders, it’s actually a LDD file, so let’s wait to see it build with real pieces.

    MOC UCS Imperial AT-AT

Oh, an other AT-AT ! You choosed the same tehnique than Cavegod, rx79gez8gundam and others with less studs. But IMO, details and textures are missing on the legs, sides and feet. Your biggest problem is that you don't have a knee articulation on the legs. You could improve from Anio's one http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=68782 . But yours is much bigger. For the neck, you could for example use the same wheels. And don't hesitate to show te frame when you're finished.

    UCS sticker sheet archive?

Ok, thanks a lot ! So here is the Bricksafe folder : http://bricksafe.com...rs sheets scans . EDIT : Brickshelf folder : http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=541991 .

    UCS sticker sheet archive?

Hi, In this topic, I have found lots of differents UCS sticker sheets, most of them from ths1138. But some stickers were missing. I have recently found others in the brickhelf gallery of a member of Techlug, Math02 : http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=540999 . That is why I made a compilation of the best scans I could found. I've also added a sticker of the #10019 that Anio created, because this set never had a "real" sticker. So here is the file, with all the UCS sickers that TLG released : https://www.dropbox....gscs/EmSdGc2sBy . It is only thanks to the work of ths1138, Math02 and others that I forget that it could exist, so thanks to them ! If you give me the permission, I can share the file on my bricksafe and/or brickshelf if it is accepted there.

    UCS Sail Barge MOC

A great work on the exterior, and intresting textures on the body. It just looks a bit too high. Do you have the possibility to make photos of the interior, to show the frame and the different fixations you used ?

    UCS Jabba's Sail Barge

Well, TLGs one isn't also minifig-scaled. But it is a playset, not an UCS, despite both have similar dimensions. In this outlook, TLG need to have a correct scale but with minifigures, playing features and simple building techniques.

    [MOC] 74-Z Speeder Bike

It looks great, but to me, it's not a MOC. It is a reproduction of the cusoo project you linked, with three modifications : the nose, the back and the colours. So your MOD looks great, but the nose is too long IMO. You should try to make it shorter.

    Midi scale Executor

Hello everyone, I present you my latest MOC. It is an Executor (or SSD) in Midi scale. Length : 37,5cm Height : 6 cm Width : 11 cm Number of pieces : 448 Estimated price : 60 € Here you can look at the ten different elements of the future MOC : two bottom and two upper wings, the structure, the upper greebles, the reactors, two lateral back greebles and the display stand. The biggest difficulty was to have an Exectutor the less thick possible. It is still too thick, but I think that I cannot do better yet. You can see that the bottom wings bent. Although the upper wings follow this bent, it remains a problem. To have a bigger greebling surface and good joints, I committed an illegal build. I use the movement of the wings 2x4 to get the angle of the wings 3x12. The greebles were also complicated. They had to be very close to having a nice render. The tower is too high, but had to be there. The fact that they are light bluish gray like the wings makes them homogeneous. They are longitudinal, wich give them more continuity. Like the studio model, it has 13 reactors. They do not have the right alignment, but are coherent. Finally, there is no hangar. It would weaken the wings and show the frame, so it would not be realistic. In conclusion, we have a coherent and accurate model with very good joints. Problems remain : there is no hangar, the nose bent and we have an illegal build. If you want to reproduce it, here is the LDD file and its wanted list : https://www.dropbox.com/s/irpm643b5ieccbj/midi-scale%20executor%20gaut1202.zip . Feel free to give suggestions or to share your opinion about it.

    Midi scale Executor

Thanks for your comments ! No, I did not use this picture as a reference, but to show the alignement I wanted to reproduce. There are four leves, I could do three because oh the height of th MOC. In fact, I did not use reference pictures for the back greebles. I saw the reactors of other executors, Foxhound's, Anio's, to improve their alignement. In this scale, They wouldn't be really use ful. And Chillis, for the tail : too me, it's too short. But I couldn't have done it better because of the wings 2x4.

    Midi scale Executor

Thanks for your comments. Nom Carver, for the rear section : It has the right size. The reactors are on three different levels, as you can see it on the photo, and that is what I wanted to do. The problem is that the real one has four levels, but I couldn’t reproduce the last, and that is why the reactors don’t have the right alignment. And sorry for not having written [MOC] in the topic title.

    Hello, I'm gaut1202 !

Hello everyone, my name is gaut1202. Some of you might know me from the french forum TechLug : http://www.techlug.fr/Forum/ . I registered to share some of my Lego Star Wars MOCs with the community, to give my opinion about other Lego Star Wars MOCs and to discover the Eurobrick-community. I speak and learn English, I'm french and speak also german. I knew about Eurobricks thanks to other members of TechLug and also thanks to MOCers like Cavegod or the brickdoctor. I browse the Star Wars forums for more than two months. And at least, I am 14 years old. I think to have experience about the behaviour I should have on forums. If my age is a problem, please tell me. I will consider and respect the choice of the moderators. Well, see you soon, gaut1202.
