[SoNE Freebuild 13] "Welcome to Fondor"

I like this a lot, from the laser gates to the nice use of the round tile as a body scanner! Appreciate the effort on the back story as well on the fondorians. are they a known species in the sw universe? just a suggestion, for a high security place, may I suggest wall mounted cameras or mini turrets? :)

SoNE Contest Episode V: Secret Plans

great looking! all the more reason to participate!
  6. Thanks for your comments. I have ordered several things from bricklink. I will attempt to make it slightly bigger (maybe 40x40 from 32x32), as it was too tiny to squeeze in everything, plus add a new border, an unfinished half-constructed base, some fire elements and layers to ground of the MOC.I will keep the yellow container but break it slightly up with a bit more grey and black, and with the new size, it shouldn't be overly glaring. Will also attempt to do a better backstory for consistency of character as well, perhaps a few freebuilds to add to that depth. Again, once Im back from the holiday.
  7. Your builds have been great, and a good inspiration to go by, coupled with an engaging story. I personally would look towards your builds to obtain ideas and inspiration for future builds.
  8. Hey bob, I think goatm signed as a tie pilot if I'm not mistaken. I'm the one with the identity issue. I created a back story around it, but you won't see my character in the cockpit of a ship for sure :P
  9. OK, good suggestions, I will modify this when I'm back. I'm just concerned that any colour other than yellow, it won't look like a container. Let me see how I can improve on this based on suggestions.
  10. Thank you all for your kind words and suggestions. Hopefully its the first of many! I have many ideas, time is the onky limiting factor. The rebels do not stand a chance against the dark side of the force.
  11. Haha, thanks. The red signifies the burnt ash after a tree is being cut, and the yellow is a container to store parts. I initially had bigger plans for this, including a landing craft hovering a container into position, and also some at-sts with a half constructed bunker, but as a former suggested, keep your first time small :) , and so I did.
  12. Stormtrooper, oops, haven't been clear. I thought it was assumed with the background.

  16. Hi, I'm fairly new to SONE, even though I have been watching earnestly throughout the forum. Based on the guidelines of Episode V, I have already created a build, using 4x32x32 green baseplates, number of MOC trees, imps and a scenario to go by. At this time, it is still WIP - 90% complete, lacking some final work on rocks, and most importantly a good day to take pictures on. I have a sketchy pic at the moment. I read that I need to create a profile to which XP can be gained, and select a faction (which is easy - Imperials all the way!). Like to know if there are any pointers anyone can help, to usher in a newbie, in terms of limitations of SONE build. For example, 1) How big can it be? is there a size limitation? 2) Can it be ONLY one scene, or can it be made with 2-3 evolving scenes, around pretty much the same backdrop/build, in order to tell a story? 3) Does it have to be canon? To illustrate, I may want to tell a story that this was the original shield generator (site) before it got blasted by Ewoks. Episode VI was the 2nd generator :) 4) Can I make up a fictional hero to save the day? (seems to be encouraged) 5) Can an official set be used? For example, I have an AT-ST from 8038/7657 which I want to incorporate into a scene. Can I use that, or do I have to completely create a MOC? Thanks in advance.

What are your Lego Star Wars collecting habits?

I see, thanks for clarifying. In that case, I do see a similarity in collection habits and preferences of Jedi and vehicle designs, although I prefer ot>episode 2>clone wars animation>episode 3>episode 1, in that order.

Super Heroes 2014 Rumors & Discussion

Batman just celebrated its 75th anniversary, and S@H in Australia has a splash on the 75th anniversary, although it didn't point to anything special in store... it just seems to suggest more and more to a UCS tumbler being launched. Given the swirling rumours, I don't see any other iconic batman set being produced.

What are your Lego Star Wars collecting habits?

I am confused here, perhaps maybe I'm a newbie here and not reading it right. You mentioned you are a die-hard OT fan, and despise Episode II like the plague, but you list your number one priority as " must contain clones", which is odd because OT doesn't really include them, and Episode II kinda introduce them, and spawn the entire clone war series. And your priorities, in totality covers, in effect, everything :)

What are your Lego Star Wars collecting habits?

I have the 7666. I personally feel it is better than the latest one, because it re-creates the entire outlook of the base, and has a number of unique elements and build, whereas the latest one seems to be a bunch of play features put together in a very tattered way. I agree on the minifgs being better though, and granted being a TRU exclusive in Australia, the marked up price didn't help much in justifying the purchase. if it was below $100, I would see it being justifiable.

Wow, the tank and balloon (using the deathstar from planet) is awesome and innovative!

What are your Lego Star Wars collecting habits?

I tend to prefer OT over PT, but ever so slightly, and I tend to focus on battles and memorable scenes. and go about collecting them. e.g. Battle of Hoth Tattooine (mos eisley cantina and surroundings, Jabba's Palace, docking bay 94) Battle of Geonosis Kashyyyk Endor Death Star: Trench Run, Hangar 272 Order 66 snippets Super Star Destroyer with matching scale MOC star destroyers Cloud City: Slave one scene Inside a Venator: Republic Hangar Bricklink puts me at 75 star wars set in total, and tons of other bricks and plates to do MODs and MOCs.

    Future Star Wars Sets

Well, they now have a Sandcrawler of a different kind. http://www.deadline.com/2014/01/george-lucas-unveils-new-sandcrawler-digital-production-hq-in-singapore/ http://www.slashgear...awler-05176996/ Off-topic, but perhaps this hints of an upcoming sandcrawler UCS :)
