Yes. Completely except for the Minifigure legs. Their hip joins are different, but head gear and accessories work fine.

    Militiary Jeep - Oxford Review

Set name: Nothing specific, called "Jeep" NCM 8000 Price: 6300W ($5.26 USD) Pieces: not many Size: 11 cm long, 8 cm wide, 5.5 cm tall (not including antenna) Construction time: I think around 15 minutes I'm mainly doing this for completions sake. sigmeister already touched on this as this generic jeep is present in several sets. Most of the military sets include one being tossed in. It's the first oxford set I built and I don't have any during pictures or picture of all the loose pieces. I'll comment on it though. I found this jeep to be reasonably good quality. It felt solid, and impressed me enough to go out and buy the tank. It isn't without it's deficiencies though. It is rather small. A gunner can fit, but not much else. He has to stand in the back and shoot over his buddies shoulder. It has 5 nice tires, a nice hood piece, a couple doors and a so-so windshield. The clutch of the windshield disappoints me a little. This is surprising because all the other pieces in the rest of the 3 sets I've put together seem to clutch well. There are also some wheel wells. I don't feel like they're going to fall apart. The rest of the jeep feels very solid. It comes with standard military accessory sprues which have a ton of guns and things on them. Playability isn't overly great with this. It's a jeep with 1 guy. It rolls around, but mixed in with other sets it's a good way to get some extra guns and a backpack. My tank set didn't come with a backpack but this little jeep did. The soldier also has a snarly face which seems a little better than the 3 happy goofballs that came with the tank. He's probably snarling because his sniper is giggling like an idiot while he holds a high powered rifle over his shoulder. There is an alternate set design on the back of the box. Looks like a kind of armoury/workshop couple of pieces. Conclusion Minifig - 9/10 good accessories, backpack and non-grinning soldier. On a fig per $ basis, the tank with 4 for $9 is a better deal Parts - 7/10 not many parts for the price, but they all do their job. Just wish the windshield had better clutch Playability - 6/10 not much going on here on it's own. As part of a bigger set it would score higher. Wheels do roll nice though. Design - 8/10 Sigmeister mentioned he'd like to see a hard top on it. I don't know if I want that, but more space would be good. Maybe 2 front seats. Hinges on the hood might have been cool too and even a couple parts to look like an engine inside. Price - 8/10 put against the tank on a value per $ basis it doesn't do well. If you need some weapons and things cheap, it's not bad. Total - 38/50 Not a terrible set, but not the greatest military set either. If you need to have 1 military set, this isn't it. If you need some quick weapons, or wheels or something like that, it might be good for you. If you need another jeep for some reason to round out an attack force it's good for that too. Only 1 minifigure, I just put another guy in there for comparison. I tossed in a bonus Giant police bot vs jeep shot

    Militiary Jeep - Oxford Review

I mentioned this in the tank review and forgot to mention it here. I wish the guns were a little smaller. They're a bit oversized. I think Brickarms + oxford would be a fantastic combination.
  5. Set name: Special Force Zforce 02 ZF-1000-2 Price: 7800W ($6.51 USD) Pieces: Maybe 100 size: Fully extended 14 cm tall, 15cm long, 12cm wide Construction time: about 20-25 minutes Ran across this today when I was looking for a gift for a friend's daughter. Was looking military but then I noticed this. This is one in a series of 9 models which are grouped in 3s. There are three themes in this series. Police, Guardian and Clone. This is Police set number 2. The way it works is that each set is a giant fighting robot, but if you get all 3 you can make an even bigger giant fighting robot from all 3 sets. That's pretty cool. This time I thought to take pictures as I went. Box The box has a unique shape. Reminds me slightly of a milk container. Not sure what the thought is behind it but it's interesting. The box shows off the forms and the other models available in the series. Instruction book The book is unique in these sets because it includes 2 instructions. The man set and the "Union" instructions as well. So when you have all 3 sets you can use any instruction book to put it all together. Pieces There are a few unique pieces here, and a <insert that tiresome argument> propeller. The joints look interesting, and there were some weird joiners included in the foot parts. I'm not sure what their purpose is. You can see them in the picture. They're U shaped. They held those pieces together in pairs, but I can't see why that was necessary. Maybe for sorting purposes, but those U shapes might be usable in some custom sets. They will go into any piece which has a hole in it (usually one of the nubs in an oxford brick has a hole in it, but not always) so you might be able to use it for something unique. Other than that, not much left over, a couple flats, and another nice blue translucent piece. I like the color of those. There are a couple of unique looking yellow discs used for their lights. Stickers are decent for this. Not bad color matching. I didn't use them all. Some computers. The white police sticker looks good. Construction Construction happens in 3 phases. Legs, body and a joiner piece, which is one step. Total is 14 steps. It didn't take overly long. It wasn't really complicated either. Union robot is 27 steps. Everything went together well. When you first attach the joiner piece to the legs you wonder "how is this possibly going to stay together? it feels very flimsy" but after you snap on the upper body it feels very solid. Completed model It has 2 forms a robot form and a "hovercraft" form. Both forms are okay, in robot form you have to be careful you don't stand him too far forward or the torso won't stay up. He should take a typical giant fighting robot stance with his legs point back just a little. It feels like a solid model. Good playability. 2 forms, moving arms and legs, and future possibility of transforming into an even bigger giant fighting robot. Could have done with a cockpit cover. Conclusion minifigure 8/10 - Decent looking police officer, with pilot style combat helmet, but no accessories at all. What happens if he gets knocked out of the robot? I guess he could grab one of those U shaped things and go after someone Parts 8/10 - Some unique parts, only one <insert that tiresome argument> piece. Quality is great. Playability 7/10 - Lots going on, but having to be conscious of his flopping problem when positioning feels a bit off. I think playability has the potential to increase with the large one. I might revisit this at a later date Design 8/10 - Not bad. I think the arms could have a little more something going on. A cockpit would be useful. Price 10/10 - It's Oxford. For $6.50 its a good deal of unique parts and quality workmanship. Total 41/50 - Not a bad set. Not as awe inspiring as the great tank I just got. But a solid set with lots of potential I think. Note on buying Oxford sets: I've seen some people mentioning and it has been mentioned to me that people might want to acquire Oxford sets. I've done some digging, and as I mentioned on the tank post it looks like that guy on Ebay is basically doubling the price of every aspect of the transaction. Model, shipping, handling, etc. I've been thinking about setting something up since there is obviously a need there and it looks like I could probably provide models at about 50% of his price (just going on the 3 I've checked so far) Anyone interested in this? I'm not sure if I'm allowed to discuss this here, if not, mods I've got no problem with you snipping this last paragraph.

Special Force Zforce Police 02 - Oxford Review

The other 2 police models looked like they have canopies from the small pictures. I'll see if I can find them. The store had #3 when I was there, but no #1. I'll have to poke around and see if I can find both of them so I can do up the big set to check it out.

    Review: Imperial Flagship 6271

I'm from Canada and a couple of my old sets have shooting cannons. I honestly can't recall which ones right now, but I think that one where it was just a rowboat and a cannon, and maybe the Black Sea Barracuda? But it's been years since I've been able to get at my sets.

    Your LEGO pirate's life

Right now they're in giant bins in my parent's attic. Before I left home they were displayed on wrap-around shelves in my old bedroom. I had a few with me for a few years that were in a display case with sliding glass doors. Now they're in the bins. Should be dust free, they're those big rubber maid bins. Someday they'll find their way back out and onto some shelves in a Lego room.

    Militiary Jeep - Oxford Review

In my mind Oxford is more of a legitimate competitor to Lego than the other brands. They aren't a bootleg brand like Enlighten, and their quality is far better than than other brands like Best-lock. While they obviously cloned the Lego dimensions they're really out there in terms of quality and originality. Disney has seen fit to give them a license for some sets which in my mind makes them much more legit.

Special Force Zforce Police 02 - Oxford Review

So far I've been pretty impressed with Oxford's design and quality. I don't know what I was doing for the last 2 years ignoring them while I've been here ;) At a price point far below Lego here in Korea they're pumping out some pretty decent sets and ideas. It's one thing to bootleg Lego, it's another to create your own product lines. The joints on this would serve as a great basis for a custom giant robot. It's a shame they weren't designed to just plug together (like say Voltron style) but still including instructions for a fourth set is pretty unique.

    Your First LEGO Set

oo difficult one. I have vague memories of some older sets that eventually got mixed in before I kept them separate. Some old space sets, etc. The 2 oldest I can remember is the Police Command center and one of the Shell Stations my uncle sent me. These are both from 1986, I'm sure there was something before that, but I can't recall what it was. I remember an old ambulance..now that I poke around brickset, it might be this guy: I seem to recall those parts (printed wall, those parts for the stretcher) If it isn't this one its one of these:

Korean Style M1A1 Tank - Oxford Review

So I was poking around the prices of that guy on Ebay, and here is what I can tell: He's charging about 2x the US dollar price (based on current exchange) for sets, and over charging on shipping. I could obviously do it for less. Is there much interest in getting a hold of full oxford sets? For example this set is $17.99 and $15.99 for shipping. Total about $34. One thing I've found is that Korean post is both cheap and fast. I sent a small box to my parents in Canada, cost about $4 and took about 5 days to get there. the jeep box fits in those (which he's charged $8 shipping for). So he's seemingly doubling everything. I'm sure I could purchase and send this set to the US for $20, maybe less.
  15. Now unfortunately I assembled this before I thought of doing a review, so no loose piece review, but there are a lot of pieces in this set. Name: Korean Style M1A1 Tank OCM15000 Price: 11,400W ($9.32 USD) Pieces: A lot, I can't find a piece count. Size:18.5 CM long (not including Main gun), 8.5 CM wide, 8.5 CM tall (not including pop up machine guns) Construction time: about 45 minutes Grew up on Pirates, but now that I'm in Korea without my Lego, I thought I'd check out the local flavour. I picked up a Jeep just to have a look at it and was impressed with the quality. So I grabbed a tank set as it was incredibly cheep. The quality of it though is very good. I will get the negatives out of the way before I start: Oxford's guns are incredibly oversized. It is nice to see a set include guns, but they should partner up with Brickarms I think The colour of the stickers on this set are slightly off. The jeeps matched the brick colour exactly the tanks stickers are a lighter green and stand out more What's included: Weapons and accessories sprue with lots of extra guns sticker sheet a couple extra bits including a flat blue translucent piece 4 minifigures, 3 soldiers and a commander The box is nice. The inside cardboard tray slides out well and you can put it back in easily to store your stuff. The instruction book is clear and I like that it shows the pieces used in each step. There are 26 steps in all. The only Korean writing appears on the last page and says you can put on the stickers if you want. There don't appear to be an alternative models indicated on the box. Construction Construction was easy. Nothing too difficult about it. Lots of flat pieces in this set. If you need flats there are tons of flat 2x2 squares. Also tons of track wheels 14 in total and 9 hatches. Some unique pieces (see the pictures for one) as well as the main gun hinge. My only thought is that there are too many flat pieces on the top of the body. It's hard to position a guy traveling on the armor. They've left a couple of connection points, but really just a couple. I didn't have any trouble fitting anything together and everything fit snuggly. Playability Very high with this set. 4 minifigures for such a cheap set is great. Lots of guns. The turret has a nice smooth full 360 degree rotation. It is as smooth as you could want. The tracks turn, they make a clicking noise, but run like tracks should and seem firm. I spent a few minutes sending it back and forth and they had no trouble. Didn't bind or come off. Even turning was okay so long as is wasn't a high speed hard turn pushing down (it made one track pop off just a little) Bricks are all standard Oxford military color, so not a lot of color variety, but I think Lego doesn't use this color so it is a good source of this color if you needed it. You can only really put 1 figure in the tank itself. In the turret. There is no opening in the body for a figure to drive it. They include a "computer" sticker, but I couldn't find a really good place to put it. I could put it in front of the figure, but it's on the outside of the tank. Oxford figures are Oxford figures. Not the same as Lego, but good quality. The only noticeable thing is that the arms are slightly looser maybe? they don't fall or move, the just seem to swing easier. However they don't fall out of position even holding a gun. Conclusion: Minifigs 10/10 - 4 minifigs on the tank for under $10?? I would have been happy with just 2. Includes 3 helmets and a beret Parts 8/10 - Lots of parts. I found the weird 90 degree parts to be a little off they fit fine, but something "looks" loose about them even if they haven't gone anywhere, and I deducted a point for the oversized guns Playability 9/10 - Fantastic tank with lots of moving parts. Very solid feel to it. 4 guys, weapons, etc. I'm deducting a point for the lack of places to attach guys for transport like how you often see guys riding on the armor Design 9/10 - Looks great. Armor skirts for the treads, rotating turret, turret hatch, machine guns, tow hitch, etc Price 10/10 - I'd give it 11/10 if I could. Just a fantastic price for what you get. 46/50 - If you ever have a chance to get this set, get it. it's great. I'm attaching some photos. I added a photo of the jeep for sticker color comparison. As I get a little more shelf room I'll probably pick up a few more of these.

    Japanese clones?

Here in Korea we have one of the Japanese 100 yen shops, Daiso. They actually carry a couple small lego clone sets I'll pick up sometime and take some pictures of. One is a train and doesn't look half bad. http://mind.dqax.com/Forums/DisplayComments.php?file=Found%20in%20Japan/Fake_Lego_in_Japan This is the post I found on a couple dollar store sets someone found in Japan. It was a couple years ago. I just wondered if Japan had a domestic brand like Korea has Oxford. I thought if they did they might have some Japanese Military sets like Korea does or even some Japanese themed historical sets which would be kind of cool.

It shouldn't be a copyright issue unless they were bootlegging right? Their brick patent is expired so people can make compatible clones. I'm not looking for bootlegs

Korean Style M1A1 Tank - Oxford Review

I've only seen one guy selling on Ebay from Seoul. His jeep price is high but his other prices aren't crazy based on retail prices here. I might be able to help people out if they want to purchase whole sets. I'm not really building a collection here, so I'm not going to be trading, but I think I can get my hands on minifigure "booster" packs if people want to buy them. Yes. Also you'll see the Korean writing. Korean writing is actually letter based unlike Chinese which is symbol based. here is an example: 한 this is korean, it's made of the 3 letters, ㅎ ㅏ ㄴ. Koreans combined letters in syllable to make what they call a "Jamo" the same thing in chinese is: 漢 you can see it looks much "busier" or "messy" as I like to describe it. Korean is very clean with lots of straight lines. The box also says on it, in English "Made in Korea". I know we've got pics of the jeep in another post and this post, but I'll do a "review" of that set, just for completions sake. I also just found this set online which I haven't seen in store here: http://www.hanatoy.com/shop/shopdetail.html?branduid=18342&xcode=002&mcode=002&scode=&type=X&search=&sort=order it's a "mini soldier collection" 1 figure and a checkpoint, price about $1 USD. actually there are several small sets: http://www.play365.co.kr/front/php/product.php?product_no=3212&main_cate_no=58&display_group=1 http://www.play365.co.kr/front/php/product.php?product_no=3211&main_cate_no=58&display_group=1 http://www.play365.co.kr/front/php/product.php?product_no=3208&main_cate_no=58&display_group=1 http://www.oxfordtoy.co.kr/product/small_info.asp?category=%BF%C1%BD%BA%C6%F7%B5%E5+MC5000+%BD%C3%B8%AE%C1%EE&Num=412 http://www.oxfordtoy.co.kr/product/small_info.asp?category=%BF%C1%BD%BA%C6%F7%B5%E5+Mini+Collection&Num=277 This site from the page it's on and page 9 and 10 seem to list most or all of the Oxford military sets: http://www.hobbybay.net/bbs/board.php?bo_table=hobby_db_oxford&page=9&page=8 I'm really interested in this one: http://www.hobbybay.net/bbs/board.php?bo_table=hobby_db_oxford&wr_id=157&page=9 looks like two jeeps with missile launchers.

    Hello~

I found this forum while I was researching Oxford sets here in Korea. I'm Canadian and grew up at the height of Pirates and Castle. My brother got Castle, I got Pirates. As I got older, I mostly collected the Pirates stuff, and I would say that in my parents attic is about 90%~ of the original Pirates run, including some of those whacky native villager sets. I remember it disappeared just after I graduated high school and a couple shops had some big sales and I bought a couple dozen sets that year. Big and small I've got most of them. A couple of the original bigger sets (i'm thinking caribbean clipper and one of the original good guy bases is missing) and I'm missing one of the last big boats, but otherwise I've got pretty much everything else. My brother's castle collection is nowhere near as complete. Having moved to Korea a couple years ago I thought to send some of this Korean lego to my cousin's son. I researched it first, heard some positive stuff and picked up a couple sets for myself since I've been doing without for so long and I must say I'm quite impressed with the quality and the price. I'll probably post some pictures here before long of them as I do have a little room on my shelf to put a couple things ^^

    Your First Pirate Set!

I got this for Christmas when I was a kid. My first pirates stuff if I remember correctly. That christmas my parents splurged and got me I think 4 or 5 pirates sets. That was the big one and a handful of smaller ones (like the cannon on the boat)
