DAF CF85 Crane Truck

Nicely done! Are you going to give it a trailer with some kind of attachment as well? -
[MOC] Tracked Steer Loader

Great job! Would it be possible to fill in the space behind the cab with yellow panels or liftarms? -

Well done. What motor are you using for the brakes? I would also put some axle connectors and axles in front of the rear shock absorbers to help stabilize the setup. -

Very original and funny. I like the idea of shifting the weight rather than skid steer. Nice job! -

I don't know if you have seen it already, but I suggested this exceptional MOC to The Lego Car Blog and it was excepted. Here's the link: http://thelegocarblog.com/2014/02/25/technic-tuesday/ Great job once again! -
[WIP] Portal axle concept
unimog123 replied to JGW3000's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
With a setup like that it is practically impossible to brace it enough to prevent the 13L beam from bending under the weight of the vehicle. Also why do you want such large gears? They only cause more friction, and if you want a better gear reduction you could do it with much smaller 8t and 24t gears. -

I agree! Great front grill, and do I see a dashboard coming along in dark grey? -
Ordered Technic Parts and still Waiting
unimog123 replied to jorgeopesi's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
That is unbelievable. I've never experienced anything like that with Lego. The most I've ever had to wait was 1 and 1/2 weeks. Hopefully I didn't just jinx it, though. How many parts did you order? And were they rare parts? -
DAF CF85 Crane Truck
unimog123 replied to BiohazardRacer's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Well nice job with the modification of the crane arm. For the stabilizers I just recognized the rear ones because they look very similar to the ones on 8258. -

It sure does look cool, but is the crane arm a modified 8258 crane arm? Same with the outriggers, right? -
[WIP] Pajero Pinin
unimog123 replied to piterx's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Oh, well that's good. I also think the upper part of the V4 looks a like a supercharger, which doesn't seem to fit in with the rest of this model. -

Nice job! Although the fake V4 makes it seem so tall, will you still be able to keep the proportions right with the body? -
[WIP] Truck Trial
unimog123 replied to cagri's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I really like this truck! I think it does need some touch ups with the design, though. I would start by lowering the roof by about 6 studs and adding a roll cage to connect the roof to the rear chassis at an angle. The roll cage could provide strength to the truck and if you like roll cages it could greatly enhance it's off road look. Also maybe you could try some lights on the rear bumper. Try it out if you want and show us how it looks. Do you by any chance have a video of this off roader? -

Nice job! You are using the hockey spring for the steering, right? Also, are you going to have a working steering wheel? I'm interested to see how those leaf springs work out. -

Nice axle! Great leaf spring idea, Lego should manufacture similar leaf springs for some of there truck models preferably the 42029 Pickup Truck. -

That is like an exact replica. It is utterly beautiful. Can't wait to see the chassis. Oh, and how are you going to fit the tires in between the wheel well. Is it going to have raised suspension? -
MAN TGA Racing Truck
unimog123 posted a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hey guys, its been a few weeks since my last MOC and now I'm back with a MAN TGA racing truck. To start let me just say that this MOC is most likely replacing my idea for a large Scania flatbed truck. So the idea is to make a large racing truck and make it go as fast as possible with Lego Power Function motors, in this case 4 L motors and a Servo motor. I do want to give this truck some advanced geometries for the best handling as well, possibly caster angle and kingpin inclination. I will also be giving it all around independent suspension. Here is what I am modeling: I am actually basing mine off of the truck in the back, the photo that I originally used was to big. Here is a summary of the intended specifications: Propulsion: Rear wheel drive 4 L motors which will also drive a piston engine (# of cylinders is undecided) Steering: 1 Servo (possibly connected to steering wheel) Suspension: Independent with caster and kingpin inclination (hopefully) Rear Spoiler: Might be operated by a small pneumatic cylinder to tilt it Power Source: 2 Rechargeable battery boxes Lights: 2 or 3 pairs of LED's Here is the rear axle so far: At the moment the hubs are not secured yet because the part of the chassis to which I will secure it has not been made yet. It also has limited suspension movement, just like in the real trucks. And in the background you can see the tires I will be using. Altogether I hope to finish this beast by the middle of March, since I will need to order some parts (particularly in blue). Edit: By accident I forgot to say this is a WORK IN PROGRESS topic, so if a moderator could change it to (WIP) MAN TGA Racing Truck that would be great, thanks.- 7 replies

MAN TGA Racing Truck
unimog123 replied to unimog123's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
More progress: This is a prototype of the pneumatically adjustable spoiler with 2 small cylinders. As you can see, the suspension module is the base for the spoiler and prevents the spoiler from tilting to the point that it looks almost vertical. Also, when the cylinders are at there lowest position it keeps the spoiler at an almost horizontal angle. I have also included holes through which the air hoses will go and some places to attach the rear bumper. D3K, the weight of this axle is already 1/4 pounds.- 7 replies

MAN TGA Racing Truck
unimog123 replied to unimog123's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I only have 1 RC Buggy motor and I'm trying to see how fast I can make it with Power Function motors. Also I think you are mistaken these trucks have huge amounts of horsepower and even more torque. You can find it in the 4th and 5th paragraphs: http://auto.howstuffworks.com/auto-racing/motorsports/super-truck-racing1.htm- 7 replies

MAN TGA Racing Truck
unimog123 replied to unimog123's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks guys. Yeah D3K I hope to keep the truck at about 3 pounds and the L motors will be geared up 20/16 then 20/12 and then to the diff 20/28. So the final ratio should be at about 450-500 RPMs. My goal for the top speed is about 4-5 MPH, so I have to make it a have a very efficient drivetrain.- 7 replies
