Is there anything from the OT that has not been built?
DarthTwoShedsJackson replied to PaddyBricksplitter's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Dagobah's cave of trials should look similar to the hallway in the bowels of Coud City where Vader ambushes Luke (which also appears in Rey's vision in The Force Awakens). The curve and wall texture is exactly the same, only obscured by vines and roots on Dagobah. They actually used the same set when filming both scenes, but heavily dressed up the Dagobah-version to make it less obvious. Great foreshadowing and visual storytelling there! -
LEGO Star Wars Pricing Discussion Thread

I dunno, I don't get the mindset of scalpers and - flippers are they called, why does this make me think of friendly dolphins...? If you look at a creative toy and think "whoa, invest in it, put it into storage and sell it for more later", there must be something wrong with your mind and/or personality in my opinion.- 217 replies

The most recent update on Yoda's hut: The lights went out in his hut in the first half of Return of the Jedi. Good bye, Yoda. -

Hush! There are some very, very, VERY spoiler-sensitive and easily-triggered people around here. You shouldn't blurt out spoilers regarding the upcoming season of REBELS like mentioning Ezra's and Sabine's new haircut and style so non-chalantly! Oh, btw: Darth Vader is Luke's father - can you believe it? -
If they do some more Clone Wars-sets with the classic style of minifig faces (as for REBELS), I'm all for an Onderon-based set including Steela and Saw Gerrera, and Lux Bonteri!

LEGO Star Wars 2017 Pictures and Rumors
DarthTwoShedsJackson replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Stop updating minifigs and thereby pandering solely to the extreme end of the collectors community? No! Stop updating minifigs and thereby promoting stagnation? No! By that thinking, Lego could've stuck with where they were 40 or so years ago. No, thanks! That being said, there is a point at which a minifig could have too much detail and look clutterd and diffuse, but this is more a question of design, and less of better detail and improved printing-techniques. -

Practically a re-release of the old Death Star? I wonder when the first scalpers will jump out of the window. Now, let's bring on a UCS Millenium Falcon re-release, and Lego will propably have to provide a suicide hotline for such people. No, seriously, I didn't particularly care for the old DS, so I'm not particularly excited for the new one - it's a matter of personal taste, nothing more. I'm happy for everyone who desperately wanted the old one and missed out. -
It's been a while. Recently, when I re-watched REBELS season 2, it occured to me that a) the A-wing has always been my favourite starfighter back in the days of X-wing vs TIE fighter, b) Ahsoka has been my favourite Star Wars character for some years now, and c) in season 2 my favourite Star Wars character is shown to fly my favourite Star Wars starfighter! What better excuse is there to have a go at a MOC of the REBELS-version of the A-wing, and to build it with the livery of the particular ship Ahsoka is flying in the episode which culminates in her kicking two Inquisitor-butts? This little model initially started as a MOD of the A-wing from set 75150, but as I went along, I started to ditch everything regarding the build of the fuselage and built it from scratch. The clever shooting-mechanism of the original model from the set went first in favour of mirroring the upper half of the front section of the fuselage to the bottom half, and including a retractable front landing gear. The goal was the flat and sleek profile from the show while retaining stability and using legal building technigues, as I prefer with all my MOCs. Also, using detailed renders from the finished show concepts, I set out to brick-build the livery as accurately as possible instead of resorting to stickers. In accordance with the final concept renders, I also fixed the rear part of the fuselage, especially closing the gaps between the engines and the fuselage, thereby incorporting the engines partially into the rear fuselage, as with the model from the show. Last but not least, the cockpit-interior has received much needed detail, and even more importantly, has been build with enough headroom and space behind the pilot to allow for the upcoming adult minifig-version of REBELS' Ahsoka to fit into the cockpit. Nothing fancy, but sturdy, sleek, with much less exposed studs and brick-built livery. Here's the finished, improved, completely SNOTted model:

Battle Packs - Better models?
DarthTwoShedsJackson replied to RetroInferno's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I'm a fan of silly statements and comments, but I've never made such myself, ever. Also, I'm a liar sometimes... Back to topic: I'd love for Lego to expand the idea of battlepacks and, for example, provide us with some small builds themed to a Star Wars species and include 4 different figures of that species. Like a Twi'lek pack with two males and two females, all in different colours. And please make one female in medium blue, because I need one, okay? -
Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
DarthTwoShedsJackson replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Only if we also get stuff from 2001 Space Odyssey, which then would also be considered as part of the Star Wars universe. What I mean to say is: NO! Why? Because there's Star Wars toys in the kids' room in the movie E.T.! I can remember a Boba Fett. If E.T. would be considered not as a gag but as part of the Star Wars Universe in earnest, then the consequences would be mind-boggling as well as awkward. -
[MOC] Rogue One - "secret room scene" (IDSMO-R3)
DarthTwoShedsJackson replied to markus1984's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Great build and very well captured scene. Impressive, most impressive. If I want to get nitpicky, I'd have removed the bright reflection on the back of the hood of the dark hooded figure in the centre of the image - then the photograph would be perfect! -

I reserve my judgement on the new wave until we have a reasonable amount of facts to more solidly base my opinions on. That's crazy, isn't it? But honestly I'm already excited for Thrawn, no matter how the set he's in turns out! Oh, wait a minute... -
LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors

Well "exclusive" is a relative term. II don't know if it is available in Lego stores here in Germany, but what I do know is that besides at Toys R Us, it is also available at Galeria Kaufhof, both in stores and online. As for a close look at the Ahsoka minifig - the by far best part of the set (besides Commander Sato for the completionists among us REBELS-collectors) - I did a review here at Eurobricks with some high-quality photos : http://www.eurobrick...review: +ahsoka -
A-Wing Starfighter (Rise of the Empire-Era)
DarthTwoShedsJackson replied to Kit Bricksto's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Hey Kit Bricksto, I real like your A-wing - especially the 5 studs wide middle section. I'll have to modify my own A-wing accordingly! -
Set 75158 (Rebels Combat Frigate) is available at Toys R Us since yesterday, and here in Germany, I even got roughly 15% off the standard retail price of 119 EUR. So I bought two for roundabout 200 EUR, which is a fair price in my opinion. But let's get right to the meat of this topic - the long awaited REBELS-version of Ahsoka in minifig form. I'm a fan of REBELS, Ahsoka has long since become my favorite Star Wars character, and I'm a fan of Lego, so what's not to love? For starters, one of the two Ahsoka minifigs I got has perfect printing - crisp, no smear, only the smost minimal hint of offset, if at all. That makes me happy. The headpiece is made from the slightly flexible, rubbery material, but it has no flash and no visible mould line. That's good. So, how well does the headpiece look as a representation of the character from the show? Much, much better than I initially suspected. The shape of the montrals (the horns) is near perfect for Ahsoka, bending back and outwards. The wavy blue stripe-pattern is done very well in my eyes, and contributes a lot to the headpiece looking right. The black outline around the red and gold print representing the tiara could be a bit more thin, but it doesn't ruin the headpiece. All in all, yes, a custom headpiece specifically for Ahsoka would be the most preferred solution, but what we get here represents the character very well in Lego-form. I wished the lightsaber handles would be metallic silver. Do these parts exist in chrome or metallic silver? If yes, I should get two! As for the lightsaber blades, these are blue, but the blue is more pastel, or crystaline than the blue lightsaber blades we know from Lego. They are pretty much the same as the lightsaber blades in the Ahsoka/Vader action figure set from Hasbro, but the plastic used is much better. So I give them a pass. The graphic designers at Lego did an excellent job at capturing Ahsoka's face and her expressions. I also like the blue eyes (as with Hera's green eyes), because they are pretty vibrant in the show, so the standard black eyes with white highlight would have looked a bit bland. Notice how crisp and white the markings in her face are, even though they are printed on a fairly dark surface. This has been accomplished by two layers of printing, as can bee seen on the angry face of the second minifigure I got where the two layers are a bit offset. In closing, this minifigure-version of Ahsoka is a very good representation of the character in Lego form. It could be better, yes, but that being said, it is a very beautiful minifig, and the complaints I have are nitpicky at best and overall I'm very happy with it. What do you say - feel free to comment, agree or disagree.

Minifig Review: Ahsoka from set 75158
DarthTwoShedsJackson replied to DarthTwoShedsJackson's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Do what thou whilt... I'd say it depends on the price for her on Bricklink. If it exceeds 30-40 EUR just for this one fig, I'd rather buy the set and also get Sato plus a great bunch of parts for MOCs, but that's just me. The dual-molding is done when half of an arm or leg is one colour and the other half another colour. In the case of Ahsoka, only her shoulders are exposed, and the line where the two colours would meet would be right at the spot where the peg connecting the arm to the torso sits. This could be an issue of sturdiness, and I can imagine a dual-molded peg could snap when the arm is put into the torso or removed, because the fit is and should be tight. As for a set review: Please don't hold your breath on this, because this would take quite some time, time which I'd rather spend on a Lego Star Wars-related project involving custom builds, custom figures, Ahsoka, story writing and lots of photographs... -

Minifig Review: Ahsoka from set 75158
DarthTwoShedsJackson replied to DarthTwoShedsJackson's topic in LEGO Star Wars
They come in this pastel blue colour, fortunately. -
The greebling is fantastic, the cockpit section could use some work still - but great WIP so far! Even better, put it in hot water - this will soften the rigid hose evenly along its whole length.

[MOC] Ahsoka's A-wing

Here's the finished, improved, completely SNOTted model. I've already posted a build WIP a couple of posts above, and will post more pics o how to build this model once all the ordered parts for the second model have arrived and I'm building that. Also, updated the opening post with this. -
[MOD] Star Wars Rebel's McQuarrie Prototype A-wing Set#75150
DarthTwoShedsJackson replied to carnage717's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Nice - I like how the McQuarrie-design used in REBELS becomes more and more popular by the day. You captured the livery well with the stickers. As for the engines, I'd use the dark tan ones from the set, since the Mcquarrie concept art also shows large portions of those discoloured in a grey-brownish tone. In order to preserve some of the grey part of the engines in the concept art, you could retain the grey cheese and curved slopes that fill the gap of the engine part. I'd also use some colour with the guns, as in the concept art. The subtle red, dark tan and sparse yellow elements break up the monotony of the large grey and blue areas nicely and also add some warm contrast to the aforementioned cold colours. -
[MOC] Ahsoka's A-wing
DarthTwoShedsJackson replied to DarthTwoShedsJackson's topic in LEGO Star Wars
No, the inverted click-hinge-technique creates an offset by half a plate, I believe. I used these parts to mirror the upper front: http://cache.lego.co...5/2/4654577.jpg The long shell-slopes on the bottom are only attached to the frame at their rear, which makes them slightly wobbly at the front. I didn't like that, plus I also realized that the fuselage could be a bit more bulky when I re-watched season 2's episode 11 for reference in which the Rebels were looking for a route through the system of Concord Dawn and had a hostile reception by the Protectors. Also, the snotted build is far more clean, accurate in shape, and a lot sturdier in the front. No more wobbly elements there. I've already set up my area for photographing, but will not have the time to do it until early this afternoon, but then, this will have priority. Here's a quick shot of the WIP of my second A-wing using the improved build of the finished first one. It'll be another Phoenix Squadron A-wing with an alternative livery as seen in the show - I'm actually planning on building the whole A-wing squaron from REBELS that way. The first parts-order arrived yesterday, more orders will trickle in the following days and weeks... The grey long slope bricks attached to the SNOT-frame at the front are placeholders - I'm awaiting an order of blue ones. -
LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors
DarthTwoShedsJackson replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I find it utterly silly and ridiculous to consider the mentioning of the name of a character in an upcoming movie a spoiler. Some people are overly sensitive, and it never bodes well to cater to the most sensitive, whiny type. This is a site for adults, and not over-sensitive crybabies, right? I cannot take someone seriously who get's upset because a character's name is mentioned and then claims that spoils the movie experience for him. That being said, regarding the release of the Rebel Combat Frigate, it'll be August, and maybe it might be available a little bit earlier. It's a TrU- exclusive, right? -
It is never too late for a Clone Wars MOC! This is a great model of the walker. The size increase is pretty accurate, and I'm especially fond of clean and precisely the edges of the differently-angled outer plate sections line up - this is great work! I haven't read all comments and therefor might repeat this one question: Does it have an interior, and if not, can one be built into the model and do you plan to do that?

[MOC] Ahsoka's A-wing
DarthTwoShedsJackson replied to DarthTwoShedsJackson's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Why not? I prefer the original McQuarrie-design they used in REBELS (plus the REBELS version had a few major characters at its helm, unlike the OT-version), but that's just a preference - I'm not aversed to the OT version at all. I just need to check if I have all the relevant parts for the dark red and white livery of the OT version and build one based on my improved version.
