    Review: 75041 Volture Droid

That's what made the opening bit for the Family Guy Star Wars specials so funny. "A long time ago yet somehow in the future..." Yeah, probably. The overall minifigure does look very close to the source material as you pointed out. Even then, I liked the uniqueness of the character and his choice of armaments anyway. I just think it's cool mixing old and new in a futuristic frontier.

    Building MOCs like official sets

When I feel like going all out for a design (or just don't care), I put it together any which way I please. However, I do enjoy the challenge of working within limits and trying to make the build appear as if Lego had designed it themselves so what I typically do is build the concept out then go over redesigning it a few times until the whole idea looks pretty much what I was striving for in the most efficient manner possible using 'legal' techniques. I love thinking outside the box yet somehow manage on staying inside it at the same time.

LEGO Set Box Differences by Region...

This thread has become a History Channel special right here. Very intriguing, at least for me it is.
  4. Anything I have not opened yet is due to lack of time or display space. I am also in the middle of redoing my room and drawers for sorting out bricks. It shall be a little while longer before I can peacefully sit down to build something.

    Review: 75041 Volture Droid

Thanks for the review, Cyberbricker. Well, aside from those sand blue parts, the only reason I am getting this still is the Warrior minifigure. I guess it's funny for me how far off into the future Star Wars is supposed to be yet here we have a guy with an ol' world musket and conquistador helmet. Maybe he just watched Army of Darkness one too many times.

    Review: 75034 Death Star troopers

Thank you for the review, mordatre. I knew I was already going to buy a couple of these without question but this definately helps reaffirm my personal stance on it. I was actually curious with the new blasters in regards to if they really worked and/or what else one could use them for. Your image showing different mods for them is very intriguing.

    The Faculty of magiс.

Dead man teaching! "Okay students, open up your textbooks on Zombiology and Necrology to page 666." (I could go all day with the terrible puns.)

Winter Village: Kissing Booth (Contest Entry)

Haha. Real cute, and of course the guys are paying top dollar. It would be rude not to.

    Favorite LEGO Set?

I'd be surprised if anybody could just pick only one throughout every single set released. A rather tall order especially if nostalgia comes into the mix. As a kid, my favorite set could have been 6373 Motorcycle Shop and then some years later it would be 6973 Deep Freeze Defender. Now I don't have a clue what to pick. I hate how much time work and life in general saps away from building or anything else for simple relaxation. I do like some of the Chima designs, Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit has some good castle stuff, and City recently is pretty nice. I don't have this set but would love to, the Sydney Opera House under Creater: Expert is a real work of art. Simply stunning. I did manage on putting together Highway Speedster earlier this year, now that is a sweet ride! Even the alternate builds in that are good.

    Your LEGO regrets

My Lego regrets? Quite a few here & there throughout the years I'd imagine like using my allowance to buy a new video game instead of another Lego set. Sometimes I regret choosing between one set or another thinking the choosen set will be gone before the other when it ended up being the opposite. Kind of regret and slack on part of the retailer, but it still irks me that when the Collectable Minifigures started, not a single store around me carried any of them until Series 4 and that was only the one Target store. It took until Series 8 at the end of the year (just in time for Christmas of course) before my Walmart even bothered with any of them and even then, they did not (still don't) carry the Minifigures with any sort of reliability. At least Target thus far has been very dependable when it comes to stocking up the Minifigures so I've been glad with my complete Series 7-11, and I can hardly wait for The Lego Movie series!
  12. Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. You took what I consider the greatest Lego set ever conceived and expanded upon it. The bloody bathroom was nicely creative with the blood 'dripping' over the side. It actually is a little creepy offset by the childlike nature of the brick. I also like your modified Vampyre Hearse as well.

    What are you listening to?

What am I listening to? It changes day to day, moment to moment. I enjoy anything with a good rhythm and melodic harmony honestly. Soundtracks are great in particular video games for example Tales of Phantasia. Fighting of the Spirit - original Fighting of the Spirit - arranged Saitama Saishuu Heiki - Fighting of the Spirit (Rock/Metal Remix) Sixto Sounds & Dshu - The Unholy Wars (Fighting of the Spirit - OCRemix)

    What's your favourite lego part?

I really am so glad Lego came out with the part you linked to. Way too many times in the past where I needed something exactly like that. As for my own favorite overall part, I'm not sure. Another new one which came out recently I like is the round 1x1 tile. Not exactly versatile but it does look better than the round 1x1 plate when you are trying to go for a certain look in a build. You know a part I miss seeing anymore? Baseplates. Just about every City/Town set had 16x32 or 32x32 baseplates. Now all we have is an assortment of odd sized thick plates. The modular houses seem to be the only sets including baseplates anymore which is a bummer for kids I think. I used to go crazy building anything on those.

    Hello Everyone!

Being a complete rookie myself here, I do not know how to answer your first question. However, I recall coming across this image on Flickr showing the four shades of gray. The Old Grey LEGO Challenge by TheBricks, on Flickr
  17. Allow me to introduce myself. I have been a builder practically since birth being introduced to Duplo and then moved along to Lego at an early age of four. My first sets were the original yellow Castle, Motorcycle Shop, Gas Station, and some Fabuland characters tossed in the mix. Through the years I have built many things but I doubt one could classify any of them as MOCs aside from maybe two or three honestly. Like my ever growing collection of parts, my skills are getting a little better. Hardly anything to brag about but at least it is a bit more sophisticated than sticking a couple 2x4’s together and calling it a spaceship. Ha. Ha. I enjoy all themes including Friends (even though I am a guy) and truly could not pick only one as tops since I love building everything. Now I do lean somewhat towards Space and Castle with City mixed in there (I was really into Space and Castle as a kid) but anymore with the increasing level of detail found in official sets released across the board, each theme catches my eye equally. I like collecting polybags well as the Collectable Minifigures aside from the typical box sets and admittedly try completing collections of the various themes out there to a degree (or within reason). On a totally unrelated note, a couple of my favorite movies would be and Rear Window, music is and , cartoons with The Real Ghostbusters and Biker Mice from Mars, and for anime Guyver and Cromartie High School. Deciding on favorite video games is tricky mainly because there are just so many out there to love especially within the indie community itself. I do know I enjoyed Aero Fighters growing up which was probably the one that got me into gaming to start with, and I just beat by locomalito a few days ago which was a blast.Anyway, I have wanted to join the site for a good while now which is rather daunting being ‘the new guy’ on such a well-established forum. Well, here I am hoping to converse on many topics with all of you on the greatest creative toy ever conceived, Lego! Cheers, TheOrcKing
