  1. This deer is my second alternative model built out of set 70827 (Ultrakatty & Warrior Lucy!). It features big antlers and moving legs, neck and head. My goal with this model was to find some purpose for different thorns included in big amounts in set 70827. This model is my fourth entry to TLCB Lock-Down Competition. When I was done with deer I built simple turtle from leftover parts to give Emmet something for riding too. You also might remember my first alternative model from this set - Alien queen. Building instructions for both models are available at buildinst.cz Any comments are welcomed.
  2. Thank you for your comment. Yep, this was more about original usage of shock absorber. Thanks. I also like this model much although I didn't have big expectations at the beginning.
  3. Few years ago I built dune buggy from set 42075 (First Responder)... ...now I am back with second alternative model - Pullback Helicopter. It features opening windscreen, engine with moving piston and cool spring loaded mechanism for spinning rotors. It works similarly to pullback motor but it uses shock absorber to store energy for spinning. I took inspiration for this mechanism from Isogawa Yoshihito's book "LEGO TECHNIC Tora no Maki". I also built this model for TLCB Lock-Down Competition. Building instructions for both models are available at buildinst.cz Any comments are welcomed.
  4. This is really impressive model. I like steam engines very much and this is the first one built from LEGO that I would buy. I am amazed how it works and by your engineering skils.

    LEGO Ideas Treehouse STORY BUILD

I like your story much. It had to take a lot of effort to take all those pictures and make story. And I don't have to forget funny ending. Good Job!
  6. Thank you all for your comments. Thank you for your comment. I've already submited another model to TC18 that is better than this buggy (at least I think so). Back to these two alternative models - I did my best to make them look as good as possible but they would look better with other parts... I tried to build helicopter to look similar to one from MASH.
  7. I tried to build my own alternative model from set 42061 several times in past but all my attempts failed. When I was decided to sell this set I got idea to give it last try. My initial goal was to build some kind of buggy. After few hours I built working steering and in-line fake engine driven by rear wheels. Building car out of parts from set 42061 was painful (it has pretty bad assortment of parts) and I am not totally sutisfied with look of buggy so I call it "Ugly Buggy". By the way it fits to TC18 contest but I think it is too simple to submit it there. So I use it for TLCB Lock-Down Competition instead. When I finished building buggy I decided to build more - to build something easier. So helicopter was the best choice. I took little bit of inspiration from @BusterHaus - I like how he used gear rack for tail of his helicopter. My helicopter has both rotors connected by gears so you can spin them together by turning gear on bottom of helicopter. This is also my second entry to TLCB Lock-Down Competition. Building instructions for both alternative models are available at buildinst.cz Any comments are welcomed.
  8. Let me introduce you my latest alternative model built out of set 42094 - Snow groomer! It is already my third snowcat I've built out of LEGO Technic. You can see it here next to its lil bro from set 9391. It features two manual functions: lifting snow plow by turning gear on the roof of cab lifting rear blade by turning lever behind engine cover Since set 42094 contains just one linear actuator and no worm gears I used two shock absorbers to keep rear blade in two positions - up and down. The first version of model also featured gearbox for switching between functions above operated from same place on roof of cab. I had to remove it because gears were not able to transmit huge torque necesary for pushing springs on rear blade. Building instructions are available at rebrickable.com Any comments are welcomed.
  9. It looks cool. I am just bit disappointed by no connection between wheels and fake engine...

    [MOC] Trabant Campers

It is awesome how you caugth Trabant is such a small scale. I can remember these stinky cars from my childhood and it is still possible to see them on roads. Anyway Trabant with tent on roof and Trabant caravan are really crazy ideas.
  11. I can't say it in other way: your truck is perfect - body is excellent especially front. It has just one wrong feature that bothers me - too small wheels...

    [MOC] Neuschwanstein Castle

I like that you chose small scale of your model but with enough details to make it instantly recognizable. And choise of autumn colors for trees moves it to next level - good job!

    [MOC] The Bath

It is amazing how many cool details you put in this model. I like that bottle with blue luquid, shower and bathtub. I also must mention that you did great job with corners of bathtub - they are nicely round.
  14. I also think it would be pity if you gave up now. You did good job so far and your model looks very promising. If I go so far with my model I know I will finish it in any way...
  15. Four years ago I built dragster out of LEGO Technic set 42036. I also got idea for another alternative model but I haven't got enough motivation to finish it until now. Last Friday I twisted my ankle and got leg in plaster. It was inspiration that I needed to finish this wheelchair. I call it "Ultimate Biker's Vehicle" in accordance with this biker's evolution: If I keep having enough inspiration in upcoming days I will build other vehicles from this evolution. Building instructions are freely available at buildinst.cz
  16. Thank you mentioning this detail. I think it is the most original part usage of the whole model.
  17. Thanks. I like black humour and this was good chance to show some creatively.
  18. When I saw set 75936 first time I fell in love with this huge T. rex. Then during building it I found big similarity between body of T. rex and chicken I had for lunch. This gave me initial idea: "Is it possible to rebuild T. rex into chicken and use only its parts?" Now I can say YES! I used original legs, modified body, make neck longer, built new tail, wings and head and here is Chicken rex (in short C. rex). It feaures moving legs, wings, neck, head and opening beak. You can find its detailed review here. And by the way it is even life-size - you can see my chicken besides medium sized egg for comparison at picture bellow. Building instructions are available at rebrickable.com
  19. As I wrote above I started building another vehicle from biker's evolution - bike. There was already built one bike from set 42036 by Artemy Zotov so I decided to build different one - kids bike. My bike features almost all details that you can find on real kids bike: front wheel steering operated by handlebar working transmisson between pedals and rear wheel working stand chain cover mudguard for front wheel front light seat with adjustable angle optional stabilizing wheels And here is funny Evolution of Biker's Vehicles built out of set 42036 as bonus:
  20. I like how it turned out. It is beautiful model and recognizable from the first sight. Good job!
  21. Thank you for your review. I don't own this set and I don't like its main model either. I think official B model is much better - at least from overall design viewpoint. If we speak about medium azure color you forgot to mention this year set 42106 - it contains total 24 medium azure parts! I think this set should be good donor of parts for alternative models. I can imagine building tractor or buggy from it.
  22. Thanks. By the way building instructions are freely available at buildinst.cz
