  1. Hail and well met! I recently moved to London. I have been coming and going around the city, and I'm sort of familiar with it as of now. But I can't really find a nice store where to buy Lego. I've been to Hamleys, and although the place is great (it TRULY is!), some Lego sets there are a bit overpriced (I can get the new King's Castle for about GBP 80.00 in S@H, and Hamleys has the same set for GBP 94.00 - that's more then even full price + shipping). To be fair, some sets are worth buying there (like the Outpost Attack, which you can buy for GBP 20.00 which is only 1 pence/cent more then S@H). I've been to Harrod's too (another interesting walk), but when I was there I didn't really check the price of any toys (shame on me)... :( I know the model store near Holborn (no Lego there last time I visited) and I've been to Forbidden Planet, but no Lego there too. So where should I go in London to buy Lego? Is there a store that sells older sets/items as well? I have no problem in having to take the tube/buses, so distance is not an issue (although going to other cities may be a little expensive). I live around Stoke Newington (hope that helps). Thanks in advance!

    Future Castle Sets?

I like this new castle. Sorry for my ignorance, but is Lego going to release more Castle sets? I hope they do, especially army builder ones. But the best thing so far is to have the Black Falcons back. With some luck, the blacksmith and the castle will be the first two sets in a long line. *crosses fingers*

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

I wonder why a Modular pizzaria has not been released yet. Same about a Police Headquarters. Those are classic sets. My one hypothesis is that they would be too obvious.
  8. So I finally found the time to build my Fun in the Park set. i was pretty excited about it, and I was especially excited about the baby -- my very first Lego one. But I guess there may be a problem with the baby. Or maybe it's just me. I guess I'll let you see for yourselves...

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

I'd love to see a Police Station (come on, we got a Fire brigade and a Bank already!), a Hospital (yeah, I know there's one being released this year, but it's not a modular one), a Train/Bus Stration (you know we need a big, modular one!) and a Theatre/Opera House (we have a cinema, so why not; an amphitheater would be great). I's also like to see a Post Office, a School, a Library and a Museum/Art Gallery (any combination of two or three of these would be nice), an Arcade (a very European one with lots of arches), a mechanical repair shop, maybe with a filling station and garage, a Marina/Boathouse, and some "farm/country" buildings like farm houses, barns, storage silos and mills -- why not a Zoo? And I do think we need more residential buildings: condos, high-rise buildings, town houses. A couple of commercial buildings would be nice too: pharmacies, malls, hotels and a skyscraper -- definitely a at least one skyscraper!

There may be a problem with my Lego baby...

It's a misprint, really. (To be honest, I hadn't noticed it before! Guess some posts/threads were deleted)
  11. So the latest road plates are from 2005... That's 2 years short of 10. A long time for Lego, I'm sure. As I've been buying multiples -- and they are quite expensive down here in Brazil (BRA 65 or +/- USD 20 for a set) -- I get a little afarid of Lego releasing new road plates anytime soon. I'm fond of the current road plates. Both in color and design. I'd like a couple of green road plates, but that's nothing that you can't do yourself with some green plates or whatever. Do you guys think new road plates are "about to happen"?
  12. A great revival of Classic Era, like the 2010 Kingdoms line. I can't believe it's been 6 years already. Lion Knights, Black Falcons, Forestmen, Wolf Pack. Both military and civilian buildings, ships, carriages, walls, towers and the good classic stuff.

    5004419 Classic Knights Set

Sorry for my ignorance, but do I get that figure if I spend $50+ in a Lego store? A physical, real-life store, not just on an online one?

    Eldorado Outpost

Very nice! Not only the colors came out right, but so did the design

    REVIEW: 41068 Arendelle Castle Celebration

Interesting, colorful set. The design is bit dull and straightforward, though. It looks like a set from the late-80s/early-90s or is it just me? The box is definitely retro, going back to that time.

    Nexo Knights 2016

The kid in me loves this theme. I'm glad to see the falcon, the wolfpack and all the logos there. Nice homage, and a nice way to bring them to present-day Lego. I hope that doesn't mean we won't see those logos back in reagular Castle at some point (a little Conspiracy Theory: the only reason Lego has released Nexo Knights is to make kids love the falcons, wolfpack and stuff and have them ready to grab the delicious new Castle theme that's to come! ). I'm still curious about the smaller sets.
  19. Not entirely related to Castle 2016, hence the new thread. So: Should any new castles have baseplates? And should they have raised baseplates? I was (re)reading some reviews and I noticed that some castles do have baseplates, and some don't. Some are raised. A case could be made that the "flagship" castles did have baseplates but the smaller castles (shall we call them "fortresses"?) didn't, but I don't think that's really the point. The point is: Does having a baseplate, especially a raised one, make a castle better in any way? On the one hand, it seems to me that not having a baseplate makes castles more modular, because you can add and add from official sets, while baseplates tend to limit that. On the other hand, (raised) baseplates add detail and possibilities, like 6081 King's Mountain Fortress, 6086 Black Knight's Castle, 6090 Royal Knight's Castle and 10176 King's Castle, for example. Compare, for instance, with 6080 King's Castle, 375/76075 Yellow Castle and 6085 Black Monarch's Castle. Yes, I know that some of these castles have baseplates, like 6080, but it seems you could just swap those for plates and all would be the same. Not that the "(raised) baseplate castles" are better, but there seems to be "more to the eye". Not sure about playability, though. Any thoughts? WOuld you like to see raised baseplates in any new castles?

2016 City Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Thanks a lot Klaus-Dieter. I love the ferry already. I suck for boats that carry other vehicles. My worse complain about GIJoe (another passion) is that they never had a naval carrier (apart from the USS Flagg, that is).

    Nexo Knights 2016

Thanks for the info so far, guys. Great drawing you got there, CM4Sci. So it's definitely a He-Man-like theme, I guess. I wonder if the next one will be Silverhawks

    Nexo Knights 2016

I wish Lego would release some impulses based on the upcoming sets so we could have a taste of what is to come. Just a couple of polybag sets when you spend some amount of money buying in a Lego Store, for instance.

Anyone who can drop by a Lego store and throw a couple of questions? Maybe take the kids for a brick Sunday? I'd do that, but I recently moved to a city where there's no Lego store.
