You can use Brickset to get the same information but for the whole Lego catalog, not only the few recent ones that Lego lists.

    Sold out

It looks like the long sold out Architecture Studio is making a come back...
  3. This is originally a fully studded MOC that uses studded bricks with holes. Here is the whole story. I wanted to have a small vehicle from the 30's, a pickup preferably. So I searched the internet and found the MOC below, a Ford Model A pickup that was very much what I wanted, and the creator (Legohaulic) makes available the instructions to build it. It is a very nice little car, with instructions. What else could I ask for? Then I built it virtually, in LDD, to test and have the parts list ready for BL. Upon building it, I realized a few things that bothered me, well mostly one thing: note that the build starts as a 4-stud wide vehicle and then, for the back, it moves to 5-stud wide vehicle, The transition from 4- to 5-stud wide is not seamless, there is a weird gap highly visible through the back mudguards (difficult to see from the small pics above). In the meantime, I found that the pickup was inspired by another vehicle, a Morris Minor, which the creator (Gambort) also makes instructions available: So, although I wanted the pickup, I decided to also build in LDD the Morris Minor, because it is built in a very different way, using the Technic beams as a base and it is modular. I liked a lot the way it was built. While trying to make the Model A better, it was getting difficult to keep it structurally strong and then I thought about using the technique learned from the blue car where you have a strong base and you just build on top of it, with much more freedom to do things. It has proven a difficult project for me because I am inexperienced, but I managed to do it. I am very happy with what I have right now (at least virtually, parts are on their way) except for that weird comb wheel that I had to use to get the 9.5 stud distance between axles (the blue car uses 8-stud distance). I have tried to use 9-stud distance with no success, no matter what I tried. I don't want to use 10-stud distance because then the vehicle gets too much out of scale that actually requires a 8.5 stud distance. So I stuck to 9.5 and the project is done, and I like it, and I am just trying to get rid of the comb wheel.
  4. I will try to figure out what you mean, I am too new to Technic to know things. Just yesterday, I was reading a bunch of slides that I found in the internet about Technic parts and I then learned that some pins are color coded and the color means this "friction less" feature or not. I learned this yesterday, otherwise I would have no idea what you were talking about. Still, some things to figure out left from what you said. Thanks for the tip. By the way, that assembly above using the 5.5 axle seems very very promising, I am very hopeful.
  5. Interesting idea. Something like this? It would work fine, and should be strong enough, it is a small vehicle. But there are two issues: I could not find a way to make the wheel axles go through holes and not through cross axles. I need holes. Also, one of the liftarm holes in the original base is being used and with an axle, I don't have that hole anymore. This solves the first problem. This should be a good solution, if not for the missing hole, but still looks good. I need to try it for real.
  6. In my particular build, that 2L pin would actually be locked by the mudguard in a way that it would not allow it to come out, as shown below. but the "minor problem" that I mentioned previously has proven to be a big one (I need the space taken by the pin) so I cannot use the design, even if it was a good one, which I agree with you it is not. I am keeping my original design for now: Its only flaw is visual, the lower part of the comb wheel is visible below the vehicle which kind of detracts a bit its overall appearance. The upper part of the comb wheel that protrudes up is not a problem, it is hidden inside the body of the vehicle. I still hope that some expert Technic guy has a magic formula for a better solution though...
  7. Sorry, I don't understand what you mean. One of the requirements of the base is that both axles must be on holes, not cross axle, as pictured.
  8. Actually, I was too soon in giving up. I just tried to use the car body around that weird base above and there is hope. The wheel and the mudguard are ok, I just have to work around a minor problem. I added the part to one of my pending BL orders, let's see in reality how it goes. Hard to find part, specially in a neutral color, but I was lucky. Thanks again!
  9. Thanks for the tip and welcome to the forum! This was the best I could think of: It looks weird, asymmetrical, and now I need a 1M cross axle. Even if I change liftarm lengths to move that 2M protuded cross axle away from the wheel axle, I cannot work around it in the car body. Well, I must be doing something conceptually very wrong because, I was thinking, Technic parts exist for decades and for decades Lego has not created a "jumper liftarm" (similar to what the "brick world" has, the jumper plate) to allow to have half stud shifts. If for decades a "jumper liftarm" was not needed, why do I need one in the very first time I try to design something using Technic parts? The answer is: I am doing something conceptually very wrong...
  10. I ordered 23 new tiles from a seller. He had the very best price and these were his last 23 tiles of the color. Along with this order, I had a second order, from another seller, and from this other seller I ordered the 24th tile of same color. I need 24 tiles. Both orders had lots of other stuff in them, not only the tiles. Now, the package from seller 1 arrived and it has 20 tiles, not 23. I write to the seller and ask him to send me the 3 missing tiles. He, only then, writes back and says that there was an "oversight" and then he sends me a refund and a "sorry for the inconvenience". No 3 missing tiles. Now I need to order the 3 missing tiles from some other seller, pay new shipping, wait for the order... Would you give a positive feedback for this seller?

    A quick advice

Complaining to the seller about what happens to the package AFTER the seller has shipped it makes no sense. I have had problems with sellers that take too long to ship, which is their problem. But, in the case of BL, differently from ebay, the seller KNOWS that the package has arrived, the seller knows that the order is complete, because the buyers has set the status as such, and still the seller does not post feedback until the buyer does it first. THIS is very very wrong.

    A quick advice

In my short history of buying from BL Canadian sellers, one order took 10 days to arrive, after shipped, other took 9 and other took 5. I have had two orders that took a long time to ship, both from US sellers: one took 20 days to ship and the other took 22 days. This latter was shipped almost 10 days ago, and since it is a US seller and it hasn't arrived yet, it is kind of worrying. It is a rather big and important order for me and this long wait for a US (problematic) order to arrive is also making me anxious. At least it has tracking info and it shows it is on its way. I think this very bad weather across the US is responsible for the delay. And I stopped leaving feedback first. Now I will do as I do in ebay. I will only leave feedback for sellers if they leave for me first, unless I want to place a neutral or negative feedback. I think it is important to leave a true feedback, even if they can retaliate, as it is usual since most sellers refuse to leave feedback first. I think that there should be a rule where if the seller does not post a feedback, the system will post automatically a positive feedback for the buyer after a certain period of time (60 days, for instance). This would make sense, after all, if you have not complained about a person for 60 days, it means there is no complaint at all and a positive feedback is in order. After posting an automated positive feedback for the seller, the buyer would still have some time to post his/her, and if s/he doesn't do it, the system would also post an automated positive feedback for the seller after that grace period is done. The way feedback system works at ebay and BL now is broken. Sellers use it as a means of retaliation. Buyer pays first, buyer has done all he has to do well then, so seller must post feedback first, period.

How do you Manage Your LEGO Addiction?

My biggest mistake, or smart thing, that I have done is/was to keep track of all my expenses in Lego, when I realized that I was "maybe" spending more than what was reasonable in this new addiction. So I started recording all my purchases and now when I look at them, I cannot help but think that what I am doing is crazy, has no sense, no matter how satisfying it may be, because it is just too much for what I get in return, a beautiful thing made of plastic. I tried to explain to myself that these toys one day would be useful for my grand kids but considering my daughters are too young yet, I can't see any grand kid in the near or not so near future, hopefully! So, I look at my Excel sheet, I see that I have spent US$1,200 in Lego toys for my daughters in 10 years (since we arrived here in the US) and then, in the last 2 months and a half, I spend $2,300 alone, buying Lego stuff for me, and I still "have to" spend $520, totaling almost 3k dollars! It was nice, I've had my fun, now it is time to stop. I've had enough. My Ole Kirk's house, for instance, started as a $120 BL project. Then I decide to change the colors I started with, buy more stuff. Then I decide to add landscape around, front yard, backyard, lots of more parts to buy. Then I decide to add light bricks, buy more stuff. Then I decided to add some interior (yes, I did), more parts. What about a Danish flag, that would be cool?! More parts! Then I change this or that here and there, make mistakes and have to correct them, I want the RED apples, not the green apples, I like expensive parts, more parts then to buy. In the end, I have not calculated how much I spent exactly in it, I don't even want to, because some purchases also had parts for the Haunted house or other minor things that I was doing, but my estimates put it at around $450, much more expensive than the original house (although also much better than the original house in my humble view). And then you have to deal with some BL sellers that are a PITA, they take weeks to send your stuff. As I said, enough! I _am_ happy with my Ole Kirk's House MOD, I _am_ happy with my Haunted House MOD, I am happy with a Gift Box Set that I created and cost me $100 (totally based on a video from Lego) and I used it to give the Christmas gift for my wife and again, today, a Valentine's day (call it recycling...), I am happy with, let's say, 90% of what I spent my money on, but I cannot justify to continue in this same path anymore.
  14. . It starts by showing Ole Kirk's House. One can learn that it was actually his house, the workshop was behind the house. Maybe one day I or someone could make a MOD adding the workshop to OKH.And there was a duck! A duck that sparked the idea of Lego! Just like in my MOD, but it was not a white duck...

Advice about potentially dodgy ebay seller.

If you sent them back without a tracking number and delivery confirmation, ebay has not way to help you and you will be completely dependent on the seller good will. Otherwise, you may get you money back.

How do you store your instructions?

You must have tons of Lego sets to have such a problem. I keep all my instructions in a single stack on a shelf. Their different sizes do not bother me, I just stack them "wisely" so that they all stay steady in the stack. Right now the stack is around 15 cm high.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Considering that the two professions I dislike the most by far are doctors and lawyers, the last two kinds of buildings I'd like to see in the modular series are a hospital and a lawyer's office. So many better options out there. Both hospitals and lawyer's office remind me of problems, big problems, after all, you only want them when you are in big trouble. Not to mention how expensive they are... By the way, my dad is a (retired) doctor and my brother is a (non-practicing) lawyer.
  18. I don't know if this has been brought up before but I was thinking, while looking at Lego pieces, that since Lego prints its name in every stud of every piece, maybe "Lego" is the most printed (four-letter) word in the history of humankind, or is this too much of a stretch, considering that there are millions of books with trillions of repeated words in them? Just wondering....

How do you Manage Your LEGO Addiction?

I am about to stop this recent addiction of mine. I have decided that I will finish my two current small projects, the Ole Kirk's House and the Haunted House MOD's, and then I will call it quits. Lego/BrickLink is a nice hobby but the cost/benefit of it has proven too high. I am just waiting for the last parts to arrive so I can finish those two MOD's and be done with it. I will then keep buying Lego sets as I have done before, just a few a year, mostly for my daughters, if and when they ask for them. And I still need to buy the last three modular buildings (TH, PC and PR) to complete a display area that I have designed for my office in the beginning of it all, but I am in no rush since I am using some of the houses I have for that and they fit rather nicely. I want to go back to my previous pastime, James Bond related, to finish something that I started some months ago but never finished since Lego stole all my attention. I am also an AFOJB, adult fan of James Bond...

    Wild Lego Thought

That is why I, afraid of the dull "the", added the "four-letter" possibility in my question... Also "most common" is not equal to "most printed", is it? Lego is very uncommon, specific, but the fact that it goes in each stud may make it most printed... I guess.

    Sold out

I also don't know, I think I read something about an initial batch of 10k units, but I am not sure. The set is still available at S@H from many other countries, which does not help the US customer.

    Sold out

It has to come back, but knowing that we are dealing with TLG, I've quickly learned that ANYTHING is possible, even the impossible.
  23. MOD is 99% ready. Final pictures follow. Some more views. Trees and hedge were mostly ideas found in internet that I slightly modified. The MOD is done but I will still do a few things that will not change it externally. I may later, when it is 100% done, post the LDD file here.

    Sold out

Lego Architecture Studio had the "New" flag for weeks while in "Sold out" status to never return. It is still listed in Lego Shop but now they have at least removed the "New" tag. And yes, last time before the last that I checked the Mars Rover, the expected shipping date was March 8th, which I found a long time to wait, but now they list it as Sold out.

    Sold out

It is impossible to believe that this set will not be sold anymore, so why use "Sold out", just to scare those that have not bought it yet? And if it _is_ sold out for good - again, I find this just not possible - how come? The thing is Lego never fails to amaze me, usually in a bad way. If only its toys weren't so cool...
