Lego Icons 10332 Medieval Town Square Discussion Thread
Artanis I replied to BrickJagger's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Such a shame to cheap out on the shields like this. Bit of a slap in the face, really. "We know you love printed shields, so here's mostly some blank ones, for no necessary reason" Almost like having a shop that prints wizard torsos, that comes with a whole heap of blank torsos. Or is that going to be the GWP? -

It shouldn't have. From the BDP site, when you click on "Payment and shipping (?)" on the project's page: I think maybe you guys should contact Lego customer support. (Unless you are happy to pay this early) -

Strange. I used Paypal, which is just a proxy for my bank account, and nothing went in or out. Maybe it is payment-type related, or maybe the Lego subsite for each region has its own approach of doing the payment set-up. -
The thing about the 4 different coloured Futuron and 5 different coloured Classic minifigs etc, was that they were still identical within themselves. There weren't 5 different red ones with obviously unique faces, there were just generic red ones. So it's not the same at all! It didn't matter how many of each you had. If you have 10 mooks and they're all the same, it doesn't matter, IF their faces are generic enough. But if they all have the exact same tooth missing, identical bruises, then it looks all wrong. And if they're all high rank, it makes no sense. Worse, is when you have 10 Jack Sparrows and 3 soldiers for him to fight..! Bring back the classic smiley!

You don't need the money until they are sent out. You set up the payment details when you pre-order, and they bill you later. (Sorry to rub salt into the wounds!) -
I am wondering if that red dragon is reusing parts for a fell beast? Or were they used somewhere else before? (My understanding was that new parts are generally not produced for Ideas sets.)

Classic vs. modern (set 6055 vs. 10305)
Artanis I replied to The Reader's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
The plain smiley always wins... but I agree with others about the colours here. The sand green doesn't go nicely with the red & blue. If the legs were brown or dark red it would be fine. -

Why do you think classic era LEGO (70s-90s) are often looked upon more higly than modern sets?
Artanis I replied to Kit Figsto's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Nostalgia, maybe, but clearly the difference is charm. Sets & minifigs. Compare a young child's drawings with a young adult's. The older person's drawings are way more detailed and representative of the subject matter, but the child's drawings are more charming. Also, the plain smiley face is cute and sweet, and reminds us of a time when everyone in Legoland was cheerful and happy. If experiencing that coincided with your childhood, then it doubles-down on the nostalgia factor. -
It's honestly not all that bad, but I do actually miss the 'good ol days' when they were just all the same minifig. Sp001 on Bricklink is Blacktron. 1 unique minifig for all sets it was in! Nowadays I need to track down 10-15 different entries for each faction to add to wanted lists etc. Last I checked these ones still aren't all on there!

They said they'd make a maximum of 30000. They have increased the number in the past, (and it's only scalpers that would be negatively affected,) but I think it might take a lot of folks whingeing about not getting one, for them to add more this time. It's possible, but I wouldn't bank on it.

Got up at 3AM to place an order, (someone warned me it would be sold out by the time I'd normally be up,) and of course the site was down... I eventually got through to checkout by 3:30, and saw that the progress bars weren't too far along. When I got up to go to work later, it was sold out, comments were saying it took 3 hours. Relieved, but very disappointed in the process, and especially for the large number of comments I read of folks that were gutted to miss out. On the plus side, all of the parts should be available (even if some become rare) on Bricklink, and the instructions as a printable .pdf file. Should be cheaper than the scalpers prices.

8 minifigs, with 1 soldier* and a hooded rogue-type character. Can't see their torsos. Someone get around to Roebuck's house to stop him killing himself... I see a grey goat, white cat, brown squirrel, green frog, red bird, blue bird. No horses or cows etc. No farm birds. *Lion Knight - minifigs are slightly viewable on the top of the box -
The problem with putting clearly unique characters in the cheaper sets is that you end up with a fleet of commander pilots

They did Voltron, they could do a slightly larger G1 Devastator if they really wanted. Although the other combiners would be a lot easier, they're not so iconic -

Assessing The Potential Unestablished Space Factions From Various CMF Series
Artanis I replied to SuperSquidman's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Post would benefit from using pictures! For the cyborg & laser mech, I just gave them vehicles from Ultra Agents sets! My own personal version of Space includes many minifigs from both CMF and other themes (primarily Nexo Knights, Ultra Agents, Monkie Kid, Stuntz, Vidiyo, Marvel, but a few others). Every alien that looks a bit suspicious has joined the Black Hole Gang. Anything that could be considered a bounty hunter or mercenary is one. Then there are some groups based on multiples of the same minifig like the moon protector knight thing, space troopers etc (a few different ones as you've mentioned), Nexo villains, Ironclad villains, and Nexonauts... and a big band based on Eternals. But many of these required donning a suitable helmet and/or other part-swapping.- 5 replies

Those torsos are future Space minifigs for me, I haven't opened that set yet, but I've already got the other parts they need to join the Stunts(z?)-based team You're not the first to ask about that part, funnily enough!
-
Yeah, there's gonna be some part swapping to redeem that guy and make multiples viable

LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion

This sub-forum is for discussing sets and posting mocs that are sci-fi in nature and don't belong to a different sub-forum. Jurassic Park belongs in the Licenced sub-forum, not here, it doesn't even matter if it's sci-fi or not (it is sci-fi action/horror). Please pay attention to the forum, a staff member already told you what goes in here. Basically 95% of all that belongs in here is Space, since I think the underwater themes go in Action & Adventure -
