    Castle sets 2008/2009

That Orc queen/witch is a sweet figure, not least because of the neat head and green lightning staff. It's funny, it's also one of the few female minifigs I don't fancy. The Crownie Queen is also a very nice figure. I assume the crown pegs into holes in the back of the hairpiece. Hopefully they won't be too noticeable when the crown isn't in, but it's still a very cool idea. It's a bit of a shame there're no elves next year, but if that means more focus on the trolls/orcs and dwarves, then fine.

    10193 Medieval Market Village

Looking again at the pictures, there are loads of really nice pieces in there. The multi-purpose flame/plume is a really great looking piece, and it's nice to be able to get a better look at the new telescope piece, seeing as how there seem to be an awful lot of them here. There seem to be quite a few gold pieces here as well, which I guess is nice. You know what else I like? The signs hanging outside the buildings. I don't know, there's a real attention to detail there, which all too often isn't seen. The buildings themselves are really well designed as well, with the hinges and stuff. The market stall is pretty neat too, especially the stiped roof. The tree is quite well designed as well. Trouble is, the more I look at these pictures, the more I want this set now.

    Watch the lego batman cartoon!

Oh, I forgot to mention that. It's a great little scene, such fun, and I have so got to make a Penguin chopper and a Penguin-unicycle sometime. Hmm... that gives me an idea for my next goody-bag: Bat-unicycle anyone?

    Batman theme in 2009

I see your point, but give him something like the beige car here, only in black and white, and it'd look stylish and ganster-y. Or maybe even something a little more BTASy in style, with the deco grille at the front. Of course, the camera is a must. Plus we'd get a purple fedora. Robin's a villain now is he? But we definitely need a suit Riddler instead of another jumpsuit one. Give him a green bowler as well, and a question mark cane. Green Ivy would be great, and we so need a purple Catwoman. Never much cared for the suit in the comics, I prefer the new one, but a minifig purple suit could look so great. Exactly. The thing we all have to remember is that Lego is a toy, and no matter what people say, comics came about for kids. Both are essentially very childish things. Comics should be fun, and the sets should and do reflect that.

Heck, most of us would be happy to just be surrounded exclusively by a load of hot female minifigs.

Oh, I know. All the more reason for me to watch the show right? And me... Honestly? I don't care what else needs buying next year, travel, food, clothes, comics, I am finding the money for this. It's what, £85 here, which is hardly bank-breaking (that said...). Lot's of wonderful new figures (including two women!), and two great buildings, plus cool parts, nice colours, animals, a turkey... it's just such a great set. This being me, shouldn't that question be "What do you think without hitting on me?"... However, I guess you're right, it's not an essential set. I got it as it meant that I could hold off on the three I have left to buy until later, and they won't be too expensive. But since you already have all the figs from other sets (or will have), it's probably not a necessity. Still a great set though. I was going to say "As if I'd fancy your sister, who I've never met" but we both know that's not entirely true, don't we? But she's the first year I quite like. And I'll be honest, it's not a t-shirt I would have bought, but since I've had it bought for me, I'll wear it. And it's turned out to be a better t-shirt than I thought it would. I caved and bought the second Lego Indy t-shirt yesterday. With any look, we might get some for the Batman game. But to be fair, that's not as many as some villains. *cough*The Joker*cough* *nods frantically* Yuh-huh. I noticed they were the wrong way round, what's up with that? Trouble is, they've been 'the wrong way round' since I bought the set, two years ago. That means that it'll bother me if I swap them over... No, go on. And I promise I'll work on something for our Batbrick/Brainbox MOC thread. All I have at the moment are half-formed ideas. I almost hate to tell you (and I'm surprised you didn't notice) but you've already edited issue 4, and this was the final copy release. I sent drafts of #6 and #7 a couple of weeks ago, before you went away on holiday. I can send them again if you want. I mean, come on, I'm the one who drank too much last night, not you. Hmm... I'll check it out sometime. As for RIP, my CE hasn't started on it yet, next issue sees part 1. Three (might be two)weeks to go...

    Transformers

I picked up TFA Grimlock half price in Tesco yesterday. The gaping hole at the front aside, he's a really cool figure. The transformation scheme is eerily similar to the G1 one, which is a good thing, and I rather like the 'opening mouth' mechanism. It's also a pity the flame sword doesn't have somewhere to go in Dino mode, but hey-ho. Plus he was half price. I also managed to impress my mates yesterday with "Unicron? Oh, he transforms into a planet".

The what I did today thread ......

Yesterday I went out with family and a few friends to celebrate my 18th. It was a really nice night, the food was good, and it was nice to spend time with my friends away from college. Then we all came back to mine for a bit (okay, so they didn't leave till 12) and, well... I think I may have had slightly too much to drink. Then today I had to go to a pantomime rehersal, and seeing as how I'm tech crew that meant sitting in front of a pair of speakers. Not a good thing after last night.

    EES Coelacanth

Nice little ship there Hewkii. Lots of neat little details, and the overall design is a good one. I'm wondering though, is the colour scheme at all inspired by Batbrick's recent Space Pod?

    Black Hole Mk. II

Seriously, did you actually think anyone wouldn't? This really is a great ship. The overall look is a really imposing one, full of intimidation, and for a capital ship, that's quite a good thing. And my does it look big. I've always wanted to try and build something huge, but I don't really have the time... or the space. The details here are very nice as well. The four fighters are great, and the support vehicles are cool, as is the myriad of weaponry. The whole cockpit is neat, and I do rather like that railing there. You know what? It's just really, really good.

    10193 Medieval Market Village

Holy history Batman! This set is simply amazing. Such a simple premise, but one that TLG have really gone to town on. So many wonderful details... First off, 8 figs. Never a bad thing. Two soldiers, nothing special. But then there are the other 6 figs, 2 of whom are women! The cows look great, as does the multi-tonal turkey. The rooster and chicken aren't bad either, and the duck looks neat even if it's not wholly accurate when compared to actual ducks. The buildings themselves are simply brilliant. The sheer fact that they have such fantastic interiors did it for me, especially the pictures on the walls. It took me a while to work out what it was, but the blacksmith's water-powered hammer is wonderful. And as for the exteriors, well... I don't care what else I need to buy next year, I am getting this. Hmm... I had quite a bit to drink last night (it was for my birthday after all). I really hope I'm not imagining all this.

    Watch the lego batman cartoon!

I watched these the other day, and I must say that whether or not they're the actual cartoon we were told about, I love them. It manages to feel very Batman, but still have a tongue-in-cheek, almost pantomime feel. Like Batbrick said, the Two-Face coin bit was great. I mean, you have to feel sorry for Harvey there. Cruel, cruel Robin! And poor Riddler.

    Batman theme in 2009

You see what happens when Batbrick and I aren't around? Everyone discusses what they're supposed to. Twice! Plus the Batgirl uniform could be used as a trophy if nothing else. I'd still rather see Scarface hold the gun, it'd just look better than Wesker doing it, from both design and character perspectives. So do we know if he's in the game then? Because I keep hearing conflicting rumours. He has a van. Personally, I think he deserves something a little more stylish. In that case, give us tropical Joker on a little island, with a Joker-rocket missile launcher built on it. Then give us a Bat-rocket that Bats can use to chase the missle into orbit. Something like the one from Batman and Son. I've got it! A Bowler Wildcat! I'm not so sure about that. There are lots more villains we could get, not to mention heroes, locations and lots more Bat-vehicles. The Bat-vehicles don't even have to be 'real' either: Bat-train, Bat-neutral buoyancy undersea scooter, Bat-skis, Bat-luge, Bat-skateboard, etc. Because rereleased villains are always good for vigs or Batcave trophies.

    Indy 2009 Discussion Thread

I was just waiting for someone to say that... Yep. I actually think it's a pretty nice figure. The torso/leg design is great, and the hairpiece is pretty nice. I like the crown piece too, it's an added detail that we wouldn't normally expect from TLG. If anything, the hair is perhaps a little high, but other than that... (oh, what the heck) nice Willie.
  17. No, I think he's right. They are MB. Numerous sets for Alpha Team: Mission Deep Sea. I think the pieces here are from 4793 Ogel Shark Sub. Also, the black and blue undersea scooter is 6115 Shark Scout.

    What Started it All?

My parents took advantage of a promo offer with Ready Brek for two small Lego sets, a Pirate raft and a Castle Catapult. I was pretty young at the time, about 2 probably, so they saved them for a while and gave them to me. Sadly, they didn't keep either the boxes or the instructions. But that was the start, and I've never looked back. And now here I am 14-15 years later, turning 18, still going strong.

Thanks guys. No Lego sadly, but I suppose I can't complain too much as my parents are paying for my driving lessons. But, that said, I did get a Lego Indy t-shirt from my best mate.

I tend to just notice things about people. I feel a bit uncomfortable in large groups of people, so tend to stay quiet. But that does tend to mean I notice things about people. Mannerisms, tendancies, etc. Oh, it's pretty big. It stretches out of Switzerland into France for part of it. I'm not a physicist, not by any means, but I do take an interest in astrophysics. It's just so cool. Hence my interest in all this. It's just a pity it's broken down... One question though: will that apocalypse be interactive? Exactly. Plus he's an obsessive-compulsive cheater. Remind you of anyone? I think I'll just order them. There's very little chance we'll get them in any of the high street stores now, so I'll just get on with it. Plus I can order the collectors catalogue and some keyrings as well. The Calendar is worth it for the jester alone frankly. But the rest of the set is pretty nice too, and like you say there're the vegetable pieces. The jet is great. The shooters probably need to go (must get round to that), but other than that it's fantastic. Dark blue always looks good, and mixed with the yellow and silver, well... The wheels on the truck are perhaps a little small, but I can overlook that, and it's also pretty cool. Even if it is about half the height of the volcano base. 20% off is awesome, try and get it before the offer expires. It really is a great set, and a fun build. I love small, quick builds for that instant fix, but sometimes there's just something nice about a great big long build. Nice pieces, fun details, lots of mini-vehicles... what more could you want? I daren't ask... "Wellies" is British slang for wellington boots. I forgot you're not up on your British slang. In related news, I got a TDK Joker t-shirt (among others) for my birthday today. I on't know if you've seen it, the white one with his eyes, nose and mouth. Anyway, Amy was very impressed. So much so I got two birthday hugs! I did notice it had the Pre-Crisis giant penny story, with the 'reverse magnetic field' escape. Probably because he hasn't had enough stories for there to be some duds in there. I think it was supposed to look "a bit TDK-ish" but I'm not sure it really managed that. However, it was still a good read. Yes, I stumbled across that little factoid. Doesn't excuse it though. Ah well, that's 70s chic for you. Neither the Batcave or Arkham have actually changed since you last asked, but there are a couple of things I forgot to put in last time, plus the new Two-Face van/truck (official set MOD). I might look into making that rather nice Bat-rocket idea I posited in the 2009 thread as well. I also have one other idea that I want to look into. I promise that I'll work on some stuff for our MOC thread sometime soon as well. Oh, that reminds me: don't forget to look at editing those two issues I sent you.

Of course, as far as anyone else is concerned, I'm merely using my intuition. Oh, very funny. I'm more 'quietly cycnical'. My friends know how grumpy, cycnical and sarcastic I am, but no-one else does. It's funny, I'm also a really good liar. Not a good thing, I suppose, but not even my friends know when I'm lying. It's really quite bad, but because of that, strangely funny. Check it out on Youtube, but go for the one with lyrics. It basically explains the whole point of the machine, but to rap. I'm not a fan of rap, it's just that someone at college told me to check it out. Oh yeah, that was nice. Especially the bit where Bats outwitted him with the "worthless riddle" bit. I might as well be buying shoes. They're in greater abundance here than Lego seems to be. On the plus side, I'll order some of the Batsets and the Castle Advent Calendar in a couple of weeks, now that my Autumn S@H catalogue has arrived. I'll probably wait until after my birthday though. What do you think of the Agents sets? I know I was selling them quite well ( ) to you a while ago, but what do you think? I think it best if you don't bother. Who knows what might happen. But... I'm not sure if you're weird enough for me. Seriously, my mate met her the other day, and decided that she's one of the weirdest people he's met (and he's been out with a few odd people). I mean... she wore wellies to college the other day! Have you seen the Batman vs Two-Face collection? There are a few classic stories in there, and a few from the 70s onwards. I came across it in the library, but had to pass as I had no snesible way of carrying it around town for another hour. Aw, so sad. But still very funny, especially considered it was done relatively quickly and cheaply at a time when barely anyone was working. Indeed. I'm going to start driving lessons soon, imagine turning up in the Jokermobile. The latest issue of my CE arrived the other day. It looks as if they're printing Joker's Asylum, starting with the Joker. Further to our previous discussion, it's not a bad read. The story is okay, and the bookends Joker narration isn't too bad. It's just a pity it's not what I (and likely a lot of other people) expectec. Joker telling twisted versions of stories, rather than just a straight story. Heck, he doesn't even narrate the story. A missed opportunity, methinks. Watched Tyger, Tyger the other day. I haven't read it, but I noticed there were quite heavy allusions to The Island of Dr Moreau there. Okay, so it was quite a nice episode, but I think I much prefer the human Catwoman. Moon of the Wolf was-- hang on, I'm noticing a theme here: monster cat, monster wolf, and Man-Bat resurfaces soon. Ah, but good old Dr Milo is back, and up to his old tricks. I have to say though, it's a pretty funny coincidence that a guy named Romulus just happens to become a werewolf. Day of the Samurai was a nice chane of pace, even if Bruce did insist on wearing that brown suit in Japan as well, poisoning any sense of style the county may have. But the maskless fight at the end was quite nice.

Power Miners: New Sets for 2009

That could be just a result of these still being somewhat preliminary. However, if it's not, I don't really see why it's such a big problem. It's not a bad torso, why is everyone so bothered about it? Or, on the other hand, they could both be going straight in the parts bins. They may still surprise us, but a lot of the pieces definitely look suspiciously like orange, which likely means they all are. Sadly.

    Batman theme in 2009

Especially in the 60s series. There wasn't a week went by that someone didn't try to rob Wayne Manor. Joker even found the entrance to the Batcave! Exactly. The minigun wouldn't really have to be that small. I gues they could even just make the gun permanently attached to Scarface. That way, we wouldn't run the risk of losing such a teeny-tiny piece. Two-Face kind of deserves a car, like he had back in the 50s. Only less green and purple, and more black and white. But something like next year's Shanghai Chase car, half black and half white. Now that would look sweet. How about a Bat-rocket? Add a Bat-spacesuit, and you've got something a bit different. Maybe it could be an upward race against a Joker-missile, filled with Joker gas, with a smiley face on the nose. It was, yeah. Maybe it could have a loudspeaker on top, broadcasting loudspeaker messages. Not so much 'pretending' but Two-Face was suspected initially. No, that's not quite true, Harvey Dent was suspected initially. He'd been protecting Gotham during Batman's year away. It was revealed that the second Tally Man framed Two-Face under Great White Shark's orders. This led to the reawakening (again) of the Two-Face personality. Woah, nice. I'm only a little miffed that you beat me to it.
