  1. In designing this starfighter, I wanted to devise a way to easily reuse portions, such as the cockpit, so I wouldn't have to worry about that part of it in future builds. Thinking back to Blacktron, and how the pieces of the various vehicles could be swapped out inspired me to design modules that could be reused. I first designed a 'cockpit tub' that would have as many technic bricks as possible to act as "hard-points" for other modules to snap into, and quickly designed a 'canopy' module to accompany it. The nose came next, then I worked on the engine module for quite some time in order to perfect it. Finally, I created the 'undercarriage' which includes working landing gear. 2. I've been a fan of JonHall18's "Sky-fi" work for a while now, but only recently noticed he actually took the time to meticulously photograph every step of the build on the vast majority of his MOCs! The picture instruction sets are rather large once uncompressed, and I have limited space on my laptop, so I decided it would be worth my while to translate them to LDD so I could retain the steps necessary to build them while removing the pictures from my computer. I then realized that others might want to see these designs and contacted JonHall18, who was gracious enough to grant me permission to share the fruits of his and my (but mostly his) labor with all of you. To that end, I've already completed LDD renditions of three of his builds. There are certain modifications made due to LDD not allowing certain connections/alignments, but for the most part they are true to the original. Of course, custom decals are not included and some of the printed pieces have been modified - again, due to constraints of the program. 3. It appears the stickers are each applied to 1x4 tiles, one Black and one Earth/Dark Green, not any other more special type of piece - so why choose? Grab four more pairs of each tile and apply all the stickers. Then you can swap them out for a different look any time you want!

    MOC: Dawnstar - 1st Fleet

^ The LXF will generate building instructions by selecting the 'View' menu and switching to 'Building Mode'. I was part of the collaboration to create the LDD file of this build, it's awesome to see it making the rounds. I really like this rendition of it.

Should Lego cover the old Superhero films?

Although, if we get them before a White Tiger figure I'll be sorely disappointed in TLG. My daughter and I are both clamoring for her. As of right now, we have all the core members of the USM team aside from her, and I was doubly disappointed to see she wasn't even included in the LEGO Marvel Superheroes videogame. They even have the perfect piece for her ponytail, Aurra Sing's hair - they just need to color it black instead of reddish brown. I was just thinking, though, that Coulson appears more often in tactical gear in Season 2 than he does in a suit, and that's most likely the version that would get produced at this point.

Should Lego cover the old Superhero films?

Agent Coulson and black coat Nick Fury could easily be included in future sets based on Ultimate Spider-man, since they both play integral parts in the cartoon. Since they look completely like their MCU counterparts, and Coulson is even voiced by the same actor, it would be just like getting Movie Fury and Coulson.

    X/T-501 "Sand Viper"

Happy NoVVember, everyone! The X/T-501 "Sand Viper" is an experimental space superiority figther used by the Andromedan Liberation Front. While the full capabilities are unknown, it is most commonly armed with twin pulse laser cannons as well as a pair of dark energy missiles. LEGO Digital Designer File. and, of course "the shot":

    [MoC] JIMINY VV (256/11/2013 vicviper)

I love this. The dark green looks spectacular. The long, spindly prongs are awesome.

    X/T-501 "Sand Viper"

Thanks, everyone! HA, yeah, but it fit nicely nestled between those inverted 1x3 slopes on the trailing edge of the wings/BAVS...

Great stuff, some great parts usage!
  12. iframes are completely legit for usage in this case, as they are intended to display external content on a page that is on a different site/server. It's when they're used as layout elements (like separate iframe for the site header, navigation and content) that is considered bad form.

    Black Tron Reunion

Even though I'm a much bigger fan of BT1 (Black/Yellow/Trans-red) they look great!
  14. I've had the idea for something like this in the back of my mind for some time. Now that Brickset has parts inventories, it should be possible to somehow generate an LDD "filter by box" palette for each set you own that has an inventory available.

    2013 Galaxy Squad

I would like to see them mix it up a bit and have homogenized teams fighting each other (if it has to be a conflict-based theme) with humans and aliens on one side fighting humans and aliens on the other. Obviously I would love to see Blacktron make a triumphant return. It would be cool if the Buggoid invasion was spurred by Blacktron agents behind the scenes in order to weaken the Galaxy Squad's defenses. Then we see a return of the SP3 bad guys in conjunction with more "traditional" looking Blacktron baddies...
  16. 21050 Architecture Studio LDD file by vynsane, on Flickr If you're like me and can't yet afford to purchase LEGO 21050 Architecture Studio, or like to fiddle around digitally on the train, here's all 1210 pieces in a convenient LDD file! Download Now! For best results, follow the instructions on how to use this as a custom palette over at here. For Mac osX Lion users (and above), you'll first need to unhide the Library folder in your user profile folder to follow that procedure. Note: I considered posting this in the "Official LEGO Sets made in LDD" topic, but it's not really a model, but just a collection of all the pieces.
  17. I suppose having the extra pieces in 'standard' sets, where the instructions tell you to build what's on the box, is not necessary, since they are truly 'extra'. In the case of this set, however, while the extra pieces aren't included in the piece count on the box there is no 'standard' model you can build, and thus the extra pieces should be taken into account. I'll add them to my file when I can. EDIT: Checked out the inventory on BL - there are no extra pieces yet submitted. Their inventory is obviously based on the side of the box as well. So... yeah... It's as accurate as it can be at the moment.
  18. ^^ Thanks! ^ I just compiled it based on the side of the box. Besides, I have a Mac and LDD Manager only works on Windows. I have a Windows virtual machine, but I figured going by the side of the box would make me feel more assured of the accuracy. The BL inventories can sometimes be... sloppy...

    Star Trek: U.S.S Enterprise

You're definitely on the right track in terms of general shape, but it could use refinement. I totally understand the feeling of being limited by your parts - this is a tough hobby when you're just starting out, as it's expensive. That's why I work in LEGO Digital Designer a lot - you can download it at ldd.lego.com. I would build what you already have in LDD and then try to refine it in the program. Once you're satisfied with the design, you can output a parts list and fill in the missing pieces via BrickLink. Also, have a look through the LEGO Star Trek Flickr group for some inspiration!

    Hyperborea

A nickname coined by the news agency owned and operated by primary Wardenclyffe investor J.P. Morgan. As Morgan was a heavy investor in Edison's work, I'll let you draw your own conclusions. But the tower wasn't the "Death Ray", it was meant as a means of wireless communication AND wireless ELECTRICITY (a concept we're only now coming around to). The "Death Ray" or Teleforce is something else.

    Hyperborea

I do have to say, there's no way Edison and Tesla would collaborate, Edison did his best to try to continually discredit Tesla on a regular basis. I think you should go with one or the other, and since the internet at large loves Tesla, he's your guy. He has that 'mad scientist mystique' that goes so well with a theme like this
