    [Local Landmark] HVB TowerMunich

Wow, very unique building! Never heard of this one. It's so geometrically unique, it looks somewhat surreal. Great job with your model. You have incorporated some very subtle shaping and textures and the scaling looks accurate.

[CONTEST] LEGO Architecture - Local Landmarks

Well, with only a few days left, which was closer than I wanted to be, I have posted my entry. Building on a schedule was hard for me, but I had a lot of fun. I'll probably repost it after the contest (director's cut) with some more detail and some of the inner workings. Good luck everyone! Now I'm off to check out your entries...

[CONTEST] LEGO Architecture - Local Landmarks

About 2 weeks left to go! I'm happy to report that I think my entry is progressing according to schedule and I hope to finish and post in about a week. I'm trying to add one detail and part of one section needs a color swap as I blocked it out in rainbow get the shaping right.

[CONTEST] LEGO Architecture - Local Landmarks

Huh, neat idea for a contest. I've never actually entered a LEGO contest (done raffles and NNovvember) but this is really up my alley and it's a topic and scale I've been wanting to try. A while back I got the New York set and The LEGO Architect by Tom Alphin and just loved them but haven't really MOCced anything. I have some ideas already. I've never put myself on a MOC deadline before, but I hope I can be determined to finish something and just give it a try!

  7. There was some... er, how to say nicely... entries I didn't understand, didn't seem to me to fit the ideas of the original contest rules, "seriously, why?," lacking detail / very plain, and/or we already have/had that by LEGO or seen on LEGO ideas. But, I don't mean to be negative so I hope my comments help in a constructive criticism way... Without looking at other votes, these standout to me: Entry # 16 - 1 point: Sure, it's a riff on the mighty micros and LEGO's past sets, so is it original? Maybe not, but when it's this much fun for newbies and nostalgic LEGO fans, I don't quite care. Entry # 26 - 1 point: Right on, I definitely think a homage to the themes you mention are overdue by LEGO. The possibility for the separate vehicles combining &/or "transformers" is very LEGO like and is creative. LEGO sometimes does this, but should explore it more. Very impressive digitally as well. Entry # 27 - 1 point: Sure there are two zoo entries here, but this one gets the nod by me due to it being more zoo-like rather than farm-like and the modularity is LEGO like and promotes collection and expansion sorta in a LEGO Minecraft way that is clever. Entry # 32 - 1 point: What can I say, LEGO City but "futurized" seems original to me. Just do all the normal LEGO City stuff, but explore time advancing it would be an interesting short term theme to try out the design space between LEGO City and the recurring sci-fi themes, and they could supplement the sci-fi themes as well. Picture this coming before or after Space Police 3 for example and maybe you'll see what I mean. Entry # 37 - 1 point: I voted for this one, for raw untapped potential. I think this has a lot of promise to train fans who can't quite leap into the budget required? for LEGO trains, as well as the relatively uncommon microscale efforts by LEGO (microscale modulars, Star Wars micro builds, Minecraft micro biomes, etc). And if you really want to think outside the box, it could be expanded to LEGO micro cities and transportation.... Anyway, I am glad to see builders building and thank EB and LEGO for their support in this contest!

    Kentucky Brick Expo Apr 23 - 24

I've been meaning to check out one of your events since you are my local LUG. I don't think I've even met a AFOL in person. Well, indirectly at the LEGO store and the Art of the Brick exhibit at Union Terminal, but not actually introduced myself, etc. I'm curious about the vendor area, like what kinds of things will be there... but mainly just want to see your builds.

PAB Cups: What Did You Get?

I'm confident the option to include PAB parts in your cup is on a per-store basis. I ask first and each time. Last time I asked my store they said you could include a few, but not to abuse it. I wish that when the models rotate the old pieces would be included in the free-for-all bins. That would be clear.

    MOC: Hero Factory Breez

Check out that sublime green booty! LOL. I really like it. Some interesting shaping in the torso and feet and that bow is killer.
  11. None of those. "Money for nothin' and your chicks for free."
  12. Chicken and fox box? checking in here! Thanks again EB staff, I love it.
  13. Oh wow, this is my first check in here in a month or so, and the waves are out! Now to play the over seas post waiting game....

    Most hated LEGO sets?

I remember some strong dislike thrown at the Clone Wars Twilight set - http://brickset.com/...-1/The-Twilight "4 Juniors" and "Jack Stone" - http://brickset.com/...heme-Jack-Stone were really lame, but they were meant to be "junior-ized" because that was their motive, HOWEVER, (and I can't figure this out) wasn't about then when juniorization was starting to spread into the mainstream themes? I want to think it was http://brickset.com/...heme-World-City but now I'm not sure. Can any one help? Galidor of course, but some early Belville stuff was equally ugly. Friends originally debuted to controversy! Don't forget about that. In the AFOL community and in the media at large, everyone had an opinion. We all have learned to forgive the early Star Wars offerings. Yeah the 1st Mil Falcon was ugh-leeeee, but it had charm, it was still the Falcon. But I don't think anyone liked what is possibly the ugliest licensed set ever made - http://brickset.com/...tar-Wars-Bucket No wait. That was the terrible http://brickset.com/...rike-vs-Electro Oh. No. Sorry. That was the miserable http://brickset.com/...timate-Showdown The Knight's Kingdom II sets were disliked. Don't you remember the "jellybean knights" phrase? Angry Birds... well, it didn't seem to go over very well, but.... it's not even out yet. But I do feel like it will be the next "shelf-warmer" and predict it hitting clearance shelves around the world. http://brickset.com/sets/theme-Clikits in AFOL hindsight, offers little. I've seen conversations among Flickr's AFOL pros that only a few pieces can be connected via most common System connections, but it was a jewelry theme, not a building one... Minecraft? It seemed to get little AFOL love, but it seems designed well according to source material, so... Here's what the rest of the internet says... http://io9.gizmodo.c...bled-1515836292 http://www.businessi...failures-2014-2 https://www.reddit.c..._lego_set_ever/ I watch you sometimes on Youtube, I'll watch and see if this becomes a video.
  15. Well, I'm mixed on it. On terms of price per piece, it's really not bad, plus you aren't getting the 10cent per piece ratio with 9 minifigs included, so it's good on this merit. However, on terms of is this a set for this price point? I like the manor, the fact that's it's a facade for climbing, the overall cave look, the minfigs are perfect, and some of the accessories are good, and the batmobile is perfect. It just seems like it's more expensive than many of us, myself included, wanted for the set. I wanted this set to be $150US or less with the caveat that it would probably be bare-bones, but I would get a batmobile, some figs, some accessories maybe a manor section, etc. Anyone could have made a set fit into that price point... reduce the amount of tiny slopes, do half of the bat-computer column atomic pile thingie (that looks like 700 pieces right there), the copter doesn't need to be hoisted up way up there to take up all those parts, the manor doesn't need to be hoisted all the way up there to take up all those parts (or skip the new swirlpole), the climbing wall function could have been done with less, a shorter back wall facade type thing could have got the cave idea feel across and part could be taller for the manor, it could have been connected better to use less structural support, etc. I feel like I could have made a better set at the $150 mark than this set is at the $270 mark. So in the end, I'm disappointed only because of my own reasons and that I was really looking forward to getting this set. I'll have to make do with building or Bricklinking my own batmobile and using older blue Batmen, which is fine, I like challenges. But what do I know? Maybe LEGO has enough research that this was to be the price point for this set?

    This is evil:

    ALSO AVAILABLE IN PINK!
  17. Are there any pictures or instructions about? I would love to build one to surprise an engineer friend. I'm non-Technic oriented, but I might be able to make due pausing the video.
  18. It's a LEGO Christmas miracle... I'd been kinda in the dumps kinda mood for a while, but not only winning, but winning a theme I collect, and definitely don't have, and getting on the calendar, is a nice spirit lifter! Thank you CopMike, EB staff, LEGO prize fairy, anyone else I forgot, etc for the awesome minifigs in advance. Good luck all. Don't fret if you don't win, there's likely one next year. Colorz wearables - by a fellow Eurobricks user :)

Cool idea, but this might be considered advertising? I shall not backseat moderate though. Why not have holes through? You could then simply push the tiles out from the back with a small metal or plastic bar, pin, pen, lego bar piece, etc. EDIT: Nevermind, it does look like there are holes?
  20. My ideal Christmas tree... ... would be one safe from destruction by cats! As always, thanks to EB for the yearly holiday raffle and good luck and happy holidays to all. EDIT: Oh dear, someone on the page prior beat me to my joke! LOLz

PAB Cups: What Did You Get?

That's my local store. Glad to meet you. I usually only get there once a month or so. I haven't seen much of an AFOL's interest since the "build a model" invaded the wall, which has been disappointing to me. I haven't asked staff if those BAM parts can be put into cups yet. If so, then yeah, there's rarer stuff and you can check part lists of the model to see if there is stuff you can use, but if not... I was there last beginning of October, sorry but I don't remember anything specific. I will try to update more if there is interest, and there's someone else here who chimes in on the contents of this store sometimes.
  22. Okay, someone fixed it? It works now, thanks.
  23. Got mine 2 days ago here in the mid-States. Thanks CopMike, EB staff, LEGO, who else? I stopped by Target and picked up the Sabertooth Battle Pack (heard it was on clearance) for my new Chima figs to fight. I'm probably going to pick up the Phoenix set come 2x VIP points. I like dem Ice Bears too though...

    The colours, according to Bricklink

I'm back and oddly enough the links I was looking for just came up on the most recent entry on http://www.newelementary.com/ Sounds like you are familiar with them and most of theories I posted about, but good work anyway.
