  1. Something is noticed: When I click on the Austrian Infantry Officer, the buttons of the torso get much darker on the minifig. Some of the others also have this.

That's correct. I had to manipulate the stickers to get rid of the #c0c0c0 background colour. It was translated to transparent by a tool. But unfortunately all the other areas of the same colour are then also transparent and have to be manipulated by hand.

But should be changed now ...

... if he needed any help and he said I should check with you. I'm a graphic and web designer, how can I help you out with this?

I would apretiate some help to get a proper look of the page:

    - some cool icon on the left top

    - a good header image (the current is the original pirate library one, but resized)

    - a good layout of the menu frame on the left

    - maybe a redesigned main frame to be used as template for further pages ...

  2. Keep us informed of your progress Andreas.

Where did you get the head that you have today?

Eventually it will need to be somehow integrated in the Classic Pirates website.

The template requires Dreamweaver. Do you have that on your PC?

Problem-1 seems to be solved: New version

    http://members.cheese.at/woody/minifig-gen2/minifig-gen.html

    Source of the head:

    Minifig Generator

    No I don't have Dreamweaver.

The actual side only consists of a tree containing html pages (with javascript) and images. Nothing more.

In principle we can start to bring in some further decals.

    ....

    2nd change for today:

I've split the main page into the standard items: heads, torsos and legs

The 2nd page now contains mosana's austrian decals

Anybody who wishes to add his decals can do the following steps:

    - copy the austrian html page (for example to french)

    - manipulate the images in the table and replace them with the new ones

    - the images have to reside in images/french/

    - also change the href link to the image name

    - add the name of the decal below

afterwards place a reply here with a tar.gz or zip archive of this subtree (french.html, images/french/)

Then I can easily add it ...

  3. ....

So I'm very interested in your idea's !!

Are you willing to work with me on this?

I have to solve some points to do that:

    1. I want to change the actual torso to 2 different icons. One as original lego one coloured torso and one for the torso image as we have that currently in the torso library.

I do have an idea how to solve that and I will check that this week.

    2. As you have seen in the menu on the left I'm already prepared to have a lot of torsos. So I think when solving the 1. point it's managable since I will generate the torso lib automatically.

    3. Would be nice to get some head's as used in the generator. If somebody post them here I wil incorporate them in the next version.

  4. - I used a starting body (the one called mask).

    - I converted the picture to a gif defining the grey as transparent

    - putting that together in power point (can also be done in a paint tool which uses layers like gimp)

    - where necessary I changed one part of the mask (like trousers or body with another colour)

    - the last step was to reduce the size to 140 width

sounds complicated but can be done in several minutes ...

  5. To clarify, most armies, such as Britain in the Peninsula, Russia up to 1812 and Austria wore the Stovepipe shako or a slight variation of it:

    ...

You are right. A very good overview about russian uniforms and shakos can be found at

    http://napoleonistyka.atspace.com/uniforms_Russian_army.htm

And for the austrians (from some pictures I used before I was in the opinion that the shakos look more like french then like stovepipe but looking at these I agree to mosana ...

  6. ....

Maybe he can provide us with a representative picture of a typical French and English shako of the Napoleonic wars?

    .....

To my point of view the french shako you have shown us is one of the most typical ones used in Napoleonic times.

You will find that that type of shako is also wearn by Russians, Austrians, Germans, Prussian, ... troops. But most of them use different forms and colours of the plums or cascades ...

Therefore the idea of having two parts will be great.

The typical english one ist also the one shown in your picture. All of them are smaller at the top. The original Lego shako comes to my feeling nearby.

Other shakos which would cover a lot of troops where:

"Kolpaks" (for husars and rifles ....) and dragoon helmets (which look also similar in all countries ...)

  7. Hello Pirate and Imperial lovers!

    ....

I plan to bookmark this thread so I can continue to interact with your comments and questions.

    -A

Thank you for joining the thread. When I was starting it, I was in the hope that the demand is that high that some of the producers of additional parts will be interested.

Due to the last infos from the other members it seems that the demand will be much higher then 500 pieces ....

    Andreas

P.S.: And by the way: The minifig pictures on brickshelf are great !!!!!

  8. I see what you mean now. you use the dotted-line square tool to draw a square around it, then copy and paste it into a new paint window. You move it up into the top-left corner, then drag the endges of the paint window closer until they touch the edges of the torso, as seen in the last picture of the tutorial. You can then colour the background in with grey.

    great tutorial ...

  9. Some comments ...

The french style would be apropriate for most of the other armies: Russian, German, Austrian, ....

The original is still true for the english shakoos, which were all smaller on the top.

Concerning legal issues we should have in mind:

    - there are already sellers of custom parts

    http://brickforge.com/

    http://www.thelittlearmsshop.com/

    - for the original it depends on lego

-- maybe it has to be differed in a way so that it cannot be mixed

I think the discussion will only be necessary for the injection molding topic since in the other case the number is much to small to be interesting ...

    Andreas

  10. I would propose to have a sumary of the results achieved so far:

Maybe the other contributors can edit this message to get an snapshot of the actual knowledge:

That's only a proposal, so please change it if there's something wrong or incorrect.

    f saber/scimitar (slightly curved blade)

    g grenadier helmets

    h colpacks

  11. You often find cavalry helmets for garde du corps, cuirassiers and others like shown in this picture

    PLATE88DX.JPG

I would have to disagree. It would be cool but could we sell enough to warrant production? The French style shako could substitute for this style thus increasing the market for that item.

Yes, from the business case point of view your are completly correct. It would be a success to have a small number of different types and to sell them ...

But to be honest I don't think that there are enough people interested in these helmets.

So therefore a mold for resin pieces having some hundred pieces in mind will do the job ...

    Andreas

  12. I'm making some Seven Years' War Austrians, mainly for my own amusement, but I thought I'd post them here.

Although your designs were already wondeful you are still improving ...

Very impressive, I like them ...

  13. Possible Items:

    - french style shakos (wider at top than bottom)

    - muskets w/attached bayonets

    - wedgie caps (I don't know what the real name is for what I think of as "air force" caps)

    - cavalry/highlander sword (partial basket hilt?)

    - saber/scimitar (slightly curved blade)

    - grenadier helmets

Items that sound appealing but I don't think would sell enough to be useful:

    - Imperial Eagles

    - alternate epauletes

    - alternate backpacks

    - busby helmets

Yeah, these items would give us a lot of possibilities to build all different forces ...

    Maybe I have to add:

    - husar shakoos (but that's maybe ment with busby helmet)

    - polish lancer shakoos

    - and cavalry helmets with a rope wearn by dragoons of different countries ...

  14. I've received some lego parts from USA or Canada. The shipping was done in letter form using this special letter bags which have a protection inside for small parts. If I remember it correctly the costs were not too high (some EUR).

I don't know how sensitive resin parts are ...

    Andreas

  15. I would be more than happy to try and make them again. But the problem is to get the materials.

Concerning materials there are a lot of resin offers also in ebay ...

Would be very interested to see photos and results from this building process!

  16. For me and my materials...the total cost would be aroound 50$.

I have done a storm trooper helmet before and it turned out well.

The amount of Shakos I could get in one hour is with one hat in a mold would be a bit more than 50, I would imagine.

    ...

Maybe we should ask Imperial Scout to make a try.

I'm willing to spend 10 EUR for a trial, if there's an easy way to transfer the money (f.e. paypal)

Do you have a picture of your storm trooper helmet?

    Andreas
