I asked back at the Lego online shop for this shako but they answered that this part isn't available any longer. So we are in the need to find a silicone molder willing to make some forms and to sell them .... Andreas

Here are some pictures from some previous work. The Ulan, Husar, and top hat is made completly from some modelling clay. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/woody64/...onic/Austrians/ There you also can see a top hat rasped down to a shako. Andreas -

Yes they are new ones. I will upload a larger image to my brickshelf gallery later on. These decals are made based on a picture showing french troops storming the fort malborghet. Andreas -

I made a first trial in my previous response. There I sumarized the decals, hats and legs in a way that it is easy to imagine how the figure will be looking like. -

I'm building up some soldiers to reproduce a drawing of the battle of fort malborghet. I will add some of these decals soon. -

Would be nice to have a gallery of the stickers. Or to resize them to an apropriate size and to place it beside the text. Yes you will find them also on ships with the classical british red/white uniforms for the soldiers and I think also with blue/white for the marine officers. http://www.britishempire.co.uk/media/cigar...tteoldpart2.htm http://www.napoleon-series.org/images/mili...lMarine1815.jpg

Not so wrong in some cases: Also the british 1801 infantry regiments had such top hats.

Interesting. I thought more people will vote for a more french looking shako then for the original. But nevertheless, I also think 1EUR could be a good price. But more interesting is the quantity to attract a possible molder to create some base forms. I will need between 20 and 30 shakos. Andreas

I'm thinking more on a shako looking like this: http://www.hat.com/Curr/boxrafre.jpg With this shako we have the possibility to build a lot of different soldiers of different armies. Maybe the moderator can split this discussion into an extra one, since that is an important topic to discuss. from brickarms I got this answer:

I've taken a look on www.brickarms.com and sent a question if the production of custom shakos is possible. Let's look for the answer ... andreas

A DVD critic with some pictures .... ? http://www.dvdoutsider.co.uk/dvd/reviews/w..._and_peace.html Who's interested should take a look on youtube. There I found some film sequences from different films and also some privates scenes taken from the (now I think yearly) event at Austerlitz. There are different groups acting in historical unifroms ...

OK then I will add one ... As boy (I think I was younger then 10) I saw in my fathers modelling journal a picture of an 54 mm soldier of this time. Later on there was an article headed with "the return from balkalava", where somebody made a lot of figures in 54 mm scale based on the picture below. The exciting thing was, that he had used soldiers of the 8th army as base material .... Growing up I did a lot of painting with Airfix 1/72 figures based on the Funcken books (and specialized on Napoleonic wars). Then I tried to do some small adaptations of Airfix 54 mm figures and ended up with some Austrians of the 7 years war also built up from 8th army figures ... I stopped that for a very long time due to studying and working. When browsing LEGO bricks with my youngest son I found a lot of minifigs and as I saw some adaptations of the Napoleonic area I started to do some of my own. That's it. Maybe I can rebuild this picture of french troops entering the fort of Malborghet. The decals are ready, the minifigs are ordered. Let's see .... Andreas

Austrian Ulan French Ulan 2nd regiment French Infantry based on a drawing of the occupation of the fort Malborghet (Austrian Thermophyls, Hptm. Hensel, 1809) That's my current project. I've already designed the stickers for 20 soldiers. I hope to get the minifigs from a lego seller. And then I want to rebuild a part of the picture.

I think we have to award Morsana for his work with the medal of honour for his great torso designs. I'm considering to change some of my designs to use Morsana's collar designs ...

What do you use as master for your designs? Internet pictures ? Or do you rely on books (osprey men-at-arms or something similar) Concerning my stickers I will be at least 4 times slower then you ... Andreas

There's no specific reason. When we resize the stickers to the original lego torso size then you can see it less clear. I haven't tried the difference on a real torso yet ... Andreas

Yes you are right I haven't used the original colours. I often use the originals colours only as base and did it a little bit darker or lighter. Also I haven't checked yet if it's better to have the dark surrounding or to use the background colour for surrounding.
