Maybe I've missed it but what have you used for drawing and how long did you spend for the picture. Does it give you a better(faster?) possibility to try it? I'm interested in experiences you made with that kind of preparation. I was not sure concerning the arguments for opening the doors. When I remember some visits I think they swung inwards. Here's a picture of Hochosterwitz: one of the most important castles against enemies from the east. It has 14 doors. When fleeding back I think closing a door from the outside against a pressing enemy is hardly to do. But not sure at all ... Andreas

Sorry but since my mother tongue is not english and some details of the english/britsh(?) history are not present (damned I thought history is one of my hobbies) ..... ... or in this case I have to say my mother tongue is not british (.... I'm confused now ...). But by the way, also often phrases common and understandable are sometimes hard to difference. Is "to come down" : (kidding, annoyed, instructive ...) ? As we are on the point: Should I explain the differences between k.u.k, k.k., k. Austrian-Hungary .... ;-)

Are the Imperial Armada really all just Spanish?
woody64 replied to Col. Whipstick's topic in LEGO Pirates
To underline this point of view here's an english pikemen: That does mean grey trousers, breast plate on a green body and the helmet results in an english men. You will find a lot of pictures supporting this for other nations. Andreas -
Mosana made some decals which come very nearby the dressing shown in the first picture: The decals show english troops of the seven years war. To my knowledge, Age of Empire III is mainly playing in the periode between 7 years war and Napoleonic area. Andreas

Maybe too smiling for a priest of this time ... Andreas -

Now seeing the picture I do understand your question. If we are dealing with normal troops to my point of view they can be of any nation. Soldiers were often mercenary soldiers. Often complete contigents were hired. They also often switched side in this time. Sometimes captured soldiers had the choice to fight with the enemy or to be .... Also uniforms were not as standardized as in later times. So if you put some lego soldiers on a ship you can give it a spanish or an english flag. Even ships changed side when entered. Andreas -
Finally I got a lot of new lego minifig pieces to form my artillery corps. Here's a photo of the cavallry in an attack. Centered a mass of light dragoons. Austrian Lancers protecting the left. Hussars at the right In front a squadron of cuirassier And some heavy dragoons at the end. Here some details: Andreas

Very excellent link to Knoetel plates, including a lot of drawings for the allies ... Knoetel
-
From left to right: - Heavy Dragoon (using bicorne but should use also the knight helmet) - Cuirrassier - Cuirrassier Officer - Light Dragoon - Light Dragoon Officer - Lancer - Hussar
-
Yes, that's correct. Bonaparte also uses them for his cuirassiers, but he uses the silver coloured type. For the Austrians the black is the best aproximation .... Andreas

It won't grow very much by now. My main interest is to test and to create some torso designs. (Hurraaa to Mosana for providing a lot of basic designs and a fantastic tutorial ...) Andreas
-
No at the moment not. I want to have a small size of each army type. Currently I have: Cavallry - light dragoons - heavy dragoons - cuirassiers - hussars - lancers (seems to be complete) Infantry - German/Hungarian infantry - Jaegers Artillery - Mounted Artillery - Train soldiers - Supporting staff But a good questions is: whats the size we use for - regiments - companies - ... in lego minifigs. Does somebody know a factor which seems apropriate (maybe used in war gaming or in dioramas) Andreas I bought all of them at bricklink. Some of the torsos were not expensive. The expensive parts were horses and helmets. Unfortunately shakoos are still not affordable: more then 4$ per piece. In summary I have around 80 figures yet and the average is around 1,5EUR per minifig (including horses and cannons). Andreas
-
There's some infantry and artillery waiting behind, hope that frightens you ... >:-)
-
Maybe not so wrong, since the light infantry was mainly built up from hunters (Americans, Switzerland people, also Austrians). Exspecially during the investigations in America before 1800 hunters were often recruited ... Andreas

French Red Lancer and Austrian Uhlan
woody64 replied to woody64's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Yes it is. In one of my available paintings it's equipped with 4 artillerists. The horses are equipped with riders from the train staff. And here's a picture from the cavalry (light dragoons and cuirassiers). Andreas -

Today I received the missing parts. Now the cannon is complete including an escort of light dragoons. Andreas -

Since Bonaparte has raised a lot of new troops, we have to be prepared: The troops now consist of: - a regiment of light infantry (Tyrolian Jaegers) - a regiment of German/Hungarian Infantry - a gun train with train staff, and artillery crew using the "Wurmsitz" - a regiment of unmounted light dragoons - an escort of mounted light dragoons soon expected: - cuirassiers - hussars - dragoons More you can see on: Brickshelf Andreas -
Very interesting, I thought that the molding forms BrickArms did, contain more items then two ... Did you make any further progress with the shakoos in the meantime ??? Andreas
-
No chance. I will settle up some light infantry as also present at Leipzig. The decal is done. Hope the bodies will arrive soon ... By the way. I changed a lot of my decals to Mosana's style based on his excellent tutorial: New Austrian decals Andreas
-
It seems that France is becoming stronger and stronger ... I think there's another alliance needed (Britains, Prussians and Austrians) do exist. Are there anywhere Russians ?;-) Unfortunately I see no chance to increase my troops since Bonaparte seems to own all the shakos and rucksacks I'm searching for .... Well done, Bonaparte ... Andreas
-
One silly question. Wouldn't it be easier to make a shako together with a head?
-
Very promising first result. At least it's the first custom molded shako we have seen so far. Andreas P.S.: I'm willing to order the first bulk of 20 pieces :'-)

I want to encourage you to create some Napoleonic Lego scenes based on paintings. (want to see some more of the decals in use ...) That's my topic: The morning before Waterloo It shows: A rifle officer of the 95th Wellington Picton One cavalry officer Here are the used decals: Here are the minifigs: Here's the scene: Andreas

I am also very interested in the first photo. The color doesn't matter since it can be painted ... andreas

I've taken a look on the possibilities to split the faces and hats but since it uses some tricks to overlay the graphics it seems to be a difficult thing. At the end a proper solution is only possibly with server side scripting and imagemagic not with the current javascript version. That would also give the possibility to overcome the javascript protection mechanism which hinders smooth integration of sides not lying in the same domain. But at the moment no chance for me since I only have a web space without scripting facilities ... :-( Can you specify the points you mean with: I think the interface needs to be streamlined - a lot. Andreas
