Do you think that Alien Conquest is up to Lego Space standards?

My son really got into Mars Mission, and is still really upset that the theme ended. He likes the Alien's from the new Alien Conquest line, but has not shown any interest in getting any of the sets. He went straight for the minifigure pack though in the Lego store yesterday. That may be what this theme has done - created some great new minifigures and accessories (the new gun is a classic) but I cannot see the theme lasting long. The set I would buy would be the Vic Viper if it was available seperately - that is a beautiful design - but I cannot justify the spend on the big set it comes in.

Sharing your LEGO with your kids

I'm halfway through building my Spaghetti Western contest entry and my kids (8 and 6) are playing with it regularly. Most of my MOC's have been built to be played with and started as requests from my kids.

    LEGO Store "Build a Minifigure"

Legoland Windsor was well stocked with very good parts last week - My kids and I made a whole box of mermaids - 3 different heads and hairpieces. They also had forestmen torso's and hats, combined with green, brown and black legs, plus several different faces and Cavemen hairpieces meant I created an army of forestmen (Well 3) too, none of which had the same head as the CMF figure. When you add the Annual pass discount, £4.50 for 3 minifig's isnt too bad when they are good parts like that. Loads of pirate parts too and lots of other series 1 minifigure pieces - Magician hats and torsos, cheerleader torso's and hair.

Hi Guys - Hope this is not a ridiculous question? 1. Design a Wild West train. Limit yourself to a maximum of four wagons/cars/coaches/flat beds etc. Engine can include a tender as well and it will not be included in the four car limit. You are allowed to include railway track, however a full MOC background is not permitted as this category is all about the train! You are free to use as many figures on or around the train. Is a vehicle that runs on rails good enough? There were vehicles in the old west that ran on rails that might not quite be called trains - I'm going to build it anyway but I'm curious if you'd consider it out of scope if I built something slightly different?

    Disney 2012 Discussion Thread

The Cars franchise has generated over $6 BN in merchandise sales since the first movie, and that's a figure from about 2 years ago. I suspect the Cars brand will replace permanantly the smaller scale racers sets. Disney are also continuing the Cars universe with more Maters tall tales and an on-going series called 'Planes'. There was lots of cynicism when Pixar anounced the second movie. - Was it really just a way to extend the life of the merchandise - you also have a whole land opening in Disneyland California based on Radiator Springs.

    Disney 2012 Discussion Thread

I always thought that a major goof of the waves this year was releasing Mater and Lightning seperately - then including one or the other in almost every other set - particularly the mid range sets - It's put my son off the Holly/Mater and Francesco/Lightning packs as he's already got the two main characters. He really wants Finn McMissile though so I'm sure he will pick him up - he has also asked me to ask Lego to make Doc Hudson as often as I can! Personally I wasnt bothered at all by the POTC sets, but I'm really hoping the slot moves to John Carter (of Mars) - This looks amazing, is a Disney movie and has the American Civil War and Mars based creatures and Vehicles - Fingers crossed - It's out next March.

    Squid Squadron

Alien's have flying saucers - here the squids have turned the saucer concept, known to turn humans into quibbling messes. into a superfast attack fighter. Seating 2 (Pilot forwards, Gunner rear) this ship is fast and nimble. The squids use them to launch surprise attacks on Human installations they consider to have encroached on Squid space. A fun, quick saturday afternon build. I've spent all my building time recently on one giant project, so this was a quick breather. It has also used a number of parts that have been in my brick box for years with no prospect of usage (Hello green domes!!) and al the purple wedge plates from the Ninjago Daily Mirror sets. Batman coming back

Well having just read the Marvel press release I honestly dont believe it! A theme that combines almost all the worlds super heroes is quite unbelieveable - I honestly wonder if we will see a collectible Minifgure type product at some point to increase the number of figures. There are hundreds of characters in each universe that could be made. I want a Blackbird, Danger room, and an X-Mansion.... Oh dear my wallet hurts!

Beautiful Minifigure work, Each actor instantly recognisable and well captured. I particularly like Dean Keaton's Tie - for some reason I find it very pleasing!

Hopefully this does not sound like a stupid question? As this is being sponsored by the History section must the Western torn be a Historical western town or could a more liberal interpretation of the 'Western' be theme perfectly acceptable? In other words as long as the town contains western inspired elements is this OK? Fantastic contest and I look forward to seeing the entries - But I have an idea and hope that I can enter it!

    2012 Friends Discussion Thread

My daughter is six and her favourite set is the 4WD with the Horsebox from a couple of years ago. She raids my box for all the horses. I'm sure a Horse/farm realated extension to City would be perfect (She also has the red tractor) She gave me her Pink brick bucket - Just didnt do it for her. Look at my competition entry for the recent Collectible Minifigure contest - I had a request to build Rapunzel's tower from 'Tangled' from her - So I know she would absolutely devour Disney Princess themed sets - And I personally would buy a 'Beauty and the Beast' castle quite happily....

REVIEW: 8805 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 5

An excellent review. I'm not as excited about this series as the previous, but there are many new figures that I like - your enthusiasm for the whole serious is a bit infectious. I do feel slight Minifig fatigue, and wish there were a few less repeaters. That said there are 3 or 4 classics in this set I will have to get - The Detective, Guardsman and zoo keeper will bring many MOC's to life.

Category A and Category B winners

There were some very imaginative entries, and I was really impressed with the standard of category B - Every entry was far better than I could have come up with. Looking forward to series 5!

    REVIEW: 4865 The Forbidden Forest

I picked up this set today at Legoland Windsor. (£9 with annual Pass discount) It's a great set for four minifig's BUT.... Harry is not wearing school uniform in this scene in the book,(and film)- he's wearing civilian clothing - and the hairpiece is just wrong. Having said that this review is one of the main reasons I bought the set as I realised there were so many excellent parts (Mushroom!)included and the value of the minifigures is very good. Just the Harry head alone can be used to easily make an 'accurate' Harry.

I give three points to 14) Eurobricks Collectable Minifigures Series 1 (Eurobricks Collectable Minifigures Series 1 Entry) by Oky Wan Kenobi. I loved many aspects of all of them to be honest, but I would have bought more minifigures from this series - I really want 'The Fly!'
