My first minifigure: post your story
StickFig replied to Mr Meleca's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I very clearly remember my first set... according to BrickLink it came out the same year I was born, although of course my parents didn't buy me LEGOs until I was four or five. I remember mostly the little van... (Pictures from BrickLink.) I wasn't as lucky as you to get a cool space minifigure; my first was about as plain as minifigures can be. He is long since gone, his pieces put into other minifigures and his face and hands sold (I have converted to human-colored minifigures). Still, this little guy and I had many, many fun hours. -
Looks great! I feel like the only way to pump it up one more notch would be to tile the floors. The exterior details are excellent; the roof-slope shaping is very nice. Great build!

BrickWarriors - New City Watch Items
StickFig replied to Thrash's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I agree that the halberd is the best part of that. On the BrickWarriors website you can see the other colors available. Looking good. The only thing I don't agree with is the face-guards on the helmets. For a good (usefulness-wise, not necessarily alignment-wise) City Watch, the guardsmen need to be able to interact readily with the citizens they protect - I feel like a more open helmet helps with that a lot. Without the faceguard, though, these helmets are basically just the LEGO conquistador helmets, so I don't really know what I would have done instead. -
Matthias, fixated on his target, has no chance to avoid the crushing blow as Cinna is overpowered by the fierce swarm. His tiny body, thrown and crushed by the whirling wings of the harpies, shows no sign of life.
-
Oh, sweet, thanks Nerwen!!
-
Matthias is flustered momentarily as the harpy rakes at him, but comes away unscathed. He manages not to lose sight of his target and fires another bolt at Harpy E. OoC: Another newbie question - I'm not certain why I took no damage: (21/2)=10.5, 10.5-7=4.5... I'm sure I'm never supposed to question the quest master, but I'm just trying to understand the mechanics.
-
Matthias dutifully keeps his finger off the trigger until everyone else has attacked, then looses a bolt at Harpy E. OoC: Newbie question, does our half of the party get the +3SP bonus from Hoke's Flagpole?
-
Matthias lifts his crossbow towards the swarming nightmares, but hesitates as they swoop and scream. "Which one should I shoot?!" he yells to Cinna and the flagpole knight.

Matthias happily puts the bolt into his crossbow, downs a potion, and follows Cinna across the ice bridge. -

An eager light takes over from the uncertainty in Matthias' eyes. "Well, what are you waiting for?!" he asks. -

Matthias, crossbow in one hand and bolt in the other, stands agog at the mages' discussion. First sky flowers, now ice bridges... what will they think of next? "Will that work?" he queries, unsure whether to risk loading the crossbow again. -

Matthias, crestfallen, regards his loaded crossbow. "Hours?" The inexperienced and overeager gnome begins to gingerly unload his crossbow, hoping to avoid loosing an errant bolt. -

"Sky flowers?" The gnome gives a quizzical look. "I understood flowers grew from earth...?" -
Heroica RPG - Quest #90: A Trip to the Circus

"My big friend, there is no place like home. No warmth like home. Orrik forged much beauty in this world, mountains and oceans, tall fir trees and even empty deserts, things I've only heard of and never seen. But there is no such comfort as home." The tiny gnome stared up at Baradock and Glup, reminding himself inside that seeing the world was his dream... thinking of home was beginning to get to him. "Glup, what's the most beautiful place you've seen? Or you, Baradock the Barbarian? You've surely seen many things." -

StickFig replied to Waterbrick Down's topic in The Heroica Archive
"I can see the allure of continually travelling, but I think most gnomes would agree with me that there's also something to be said for a place to call home, something solid and earthy. I'm a long way from where I once considered home, but out here I still know that my room at Heroica Hall will be waiting for me each time my wandering mood is spent. In any case, as proved at the Fire Nord camp, I'm not much of a performer." Matthias shakes his head and laughs. "No, I'm not the circus type, just a gnome with a crossbow and a desire to see better views than what you get standing behind a barber's chair." -

Matthias listens to Boris' argument with the orc with interest, getting more and more agitated until Glup's outburst. When the grumpkin addresses him and the club-wielding barbarian, the mini-man laughs deeply. "I'm no veteran, that's certain," he confides to Glup. "That's why I didn't tell Grishnod what you did earlier - I'm glad you finally did - but I didn't want to overstep my bounds with the real heroes. I'm just enjoying seeing more of the world than I ever thought I would." -

Matthias shakes his head, trying to get rid of the ringing in his ears from Beorn's last blow. "I had forgotten we were going to have to hold onto him...." Matthias jogs after Cinna towards the woodline, scanning the sky for birds he might be able to ask for help following the orc. -

Matthias, pleased that he's finally done some damage, fires at Beorn again (from the back row). Glup attacks Viking Fort Door. -

"Curse these tiny bolts," Matthias mutters as he once again reloads his crossbow. Realizing that the remaining Viking Wall Guard has too much armor for his bolts to penetrate, the gnome attacks Beorn from the back row. Glup attacks Beorn from the back row as well. -

"Well, rats, I was hoping that door would catch fire and do some work for us," Glup mutters. "Looks like we'll do this the hard way!" The daredevil grumpkin draws her rapier again and attacks Beorn Bronzebottom with abandon. Matthias winds his crossbow and fires another bolt at Viking Wall Guard B. -

OoC: Didn't Matthias at least scratch that guy? Matthias takes more careful aim this time and again attacks Viking Wall Guard B from the back row. Glup rolls her eyes at the exchange between Purpearl and Nel. "What a pair of sops," she thinks to herself. Looking around, she notes that the party's enemies are all being dealt with so she throws a fire bomb at the Viking Fort Door. "Let's get out of here before the rest of the fortress wakes up!" -

As he's about to pull the trigger, Matthias notices another guard that's not being attacked, and shifts his aim at the last minute to attack Viking Wall Guard B. OoC: Thanks for the tip!
