Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return
StickFig replied to Waterbrick Down's topic in The Heroica Archive
Matthias, still wondering about the roots burning behind them, watches the others gathered around the sarcophagus. The room gives the gnome the heebie-jeebies... he inspects the solemn cavern, paying special attention to the exit tunnel, and then speaks a strange thought aloud. "What will it prove to open it? What can we find? A dead body would prove nothing, and neither would an empty tomb. Suddenly this feels a very strange place to be for me." -

Matthias removes his hands from his nose and places them on the nearest roots, attempting to feel of what nature they might be - what plant or what veins of ore produce such strange formations. -

Frustrated, Matthias does his best to kick a spider husk to dust. Ya'll, I apologize if my posting gets sporadic - my second son was born late last night! -

Matthias looks from Hoke to Umbra to Althior and then down, almost as if he's considering himself. Noting that Nuitan seems ready to go, he shakes his head in sympathetic disappointment at his own words, addressing the other Heroes but fully aware that the others will hear him. "Gentlemen, there are two accomplished healers among our small party already, and we should consider not only who to take but who to leave behind. A marauder and a cleric together have the best chance of standing, or at least surviving, and the Lady Minstrel's skills are more likely to be put to use working with us than quietly staking this place out." -

Matthias, on edge but still not wanting to be drawn into the conversation without some idea of who the participants are, peeks out into the street to see if there is anyone watching the house. including a quick glance up to the sky, then makes his way around the room, peeking into the kitchen and down the stairs to the cellar, afraid he will find listening ears or watching eyes but on the lookout for a bite or a drink as well. -

Matthias struggles internally to decide whether he should speak, and decides he has nothing to offer the conversation, especially since he doesn't know any of the three figures in the firelight. Instead, he surreptitiously eyes the entire room, looking for the locations of doors, windows, stairways, passages, and other entrances and exits. -

Matthias, a little shaky and an little green after his first flight on a Dragon, does his best to focus on peering in the doors and windows to see if any occupants - or looters and squatters - remain. He also tries to find anything that's not been destroyed in the rubble. -

"So, to the Dragon House, to see what we can find out? Or Something Else?" Matthias asks, a slightly unsettled tone creeping into his voice as he anxiously eyes the enormous dragon. I'm going to assume that Matthias does have his stuff back, and that the strikeout is just a typo? -

Having sat down again at the bar, Matthias closes his eyes and begins to pool ether at the tips of his fingers, reaching out to the large group and wondering if he'll be able to hold enough ether to heal all the injuries that are about to happen. > Matthias: Heal (no weapon) vs. First (by battle order) Injured Party Member -
No problem on the math - I tend to be much more interested in the mechanics of the game than the lore or relationships... to my detriment. It was a fun quest, and believe me, it was really, really, really satisfying to have Matthias just absolutely wreck house.

Matthias listens to the group breakdown, and pipes in quietly in Hoke's direction, "One might think a Dragoon would be most at home in the Dragon House...." The druid hopes that might actually be helpful. He sees no need to add his voice to the growing cacophany of rebellion around him... and really, who do the Town Watch think they are? (That's a no.)
