Matthias, impatient to get on with it, taps his foot absentmindedly while the others debate.

Matthias adds to Half-Born's words in a low, quiet voice. "Master Vindsval is right, Master Ezeran. And even if those guards knew the ultimate possibility of their duties, we had no need to enact it. We were in no immediate risk - and indeed, in no risk even once they spotted us, as witness by their remains and our lack of wounds. I do not relish the fact that I killed four of them because of your lack of restraint." Then then gnome addresses the giant, in the same steady voice, as the latter prepares his smoke grenade. "I do not expect there will be further reason for such unproductive outbursts, Master Vindsval."

Matthias stands in the back, at the end of the battle order, and heals anyone who gets hurt. If no one is hurt, he fires at the guard.

Matthias wonders why Luke might not say anything... He waits for the man's reply to Half-Born, scanning the area for further threats, as he does his best to hide in the bushes.

Matthias nods quietly in agreement with Obbex' observation. As they depart, the gnome lets his disdain for idea of assassination spill over into disdain for their employers, and does his best to snag a grenade while no one is looking.

"Let's go find him, then," Matthias suggests. "None of us are happy about the assignment you're proposing. Convince us."

Matthias whispers to the others out of the corner of his mouth. "These people need to make up their minds. Vacation? Assassination? They are as bad as bloody elves."

Matthias doffs his hat and gives a small bow as each person is introduced, but gives Half-Born the floor to make introductions or begin the briefings and negotiations.

"It's amazing; our employer purposefully hired not one, but two of us who can speak with animals, and yet only one had a brain. I suppose our employer was rather lucky, if indeed we are the five Master Dog is looking for." Matthias rolls his eyes under the brim of his hat. Speaking up to Half-Born, he adds, "Master Dog here is waiting for a party of five."

Matthias takes an instant dislike to the other hero's rudeness. "Five people... like perhaps myself, Master Selfish here, the half-giant, the sorcerer with the weird shirt and purple hat, and the young knight in shining armor?" "Master Vindsval, I believe we have found our contact," the gnome calls out.

Matthias leans in, the dog towering over every part of the gnome save his hat, and whispers conspiratorially, "Who are you spying on today?"

"Business?" Matthias does his best to mask his surprise, this being the first time he'd met a dog with such ambition. "What business are you in, if you don't mind my asking?"

Matthias waves up at Yavarr as the sorcerer introduces himself. "I'm Matthias; peace to you, Master Ezeran." New to Tridentia, the gnome is content to let his comrades take the lead. Taking stock of his surroundings, he watches Parfenius, boy, and dog converse. "A wonderful day on the docks, is it not, keen friend?" He addresses the animal in its own tongue. P.S. - Stats are good, let's do this, Leeeeeeeeroy Jenkins and all that!
