Great job. This it why I come here. I love how everybody is commenting on the handcuffs. We are all thinking: "Why didn't I think of that?"

The LEGO Movie Sets News and Discussion
darwinquincy replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
This is actually the first SDCC exclusive that really annoyed me. My daughters are absolutely obsessed with Uni-Kitty, and would love these face prints. It just seems like such an odd choice to limit to the SDCC crowd.- 2626 replies

The colors make me think of Borgin & Burke's from Diagon Alley. Fantastic detail. Stuff like this is why I prefer 16x32 modulars. Looks like you even included some details on that sides. Have any shots of the sides?

As a former park ranger, this warms my heart. Nice work, especially with the change in pants.

LEGO Ideas: 21110 Research Institute/Female Minifigure Set
darwinquincy replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Town
Amen. My daughters love female minifigures. This set will provide 3 of them in a unique setting. Win, win, win. (Plus a dinosaur. Roar!) -
My kids would love this set ... but I strongly suspect that they would destroy it while playing with it. (I think were are on the 4th rebuilding of the Friends house.) Still, I LOVE that sick/queasy minifigure face. I assume that is new, because I've never seen it before.

So did anybody go today? We are going tomorrow, and are trying to figure out how early we need to get there in order to get tickets. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
darwinquincy replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Merida's Highland Games (41051) from the Disney Princess line has a target, but it is a sticker. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?S=41051-1 -
All I can think is this: I really want a 4x4 pointy wing like that.

Does anyone else live in fear... (of new sets missing pieces)
darwinquincy replied to Farmer Harv's topic in LEGO Star Wars
After innumerable sets, I've never had a missing piece. However, I did get a broken piece in the Republic Gunship. It was one of the large LBG technic pieces, broken right through a hole. I got impatient and built it with a black one from my collection. Now I'm too lazy to take it apart to get to the technic piece, which you can see from the open door. -
Where does a red 48x48 baseplate come from?

How do you display your modular building collection?
darwinquincy replied to yanathin's topic in LEGO Town
I also use an Ikea shelf. In this case, it's a wall shelf rather than a bookshelf. My kids play with these sets, but we keep them on the wall when they aren't in use so they don't get totally destroyed. -
When will the Lego Friends Theme retire?
darwinquincy replied to Savage Oppress's topic in LEGO Town
I fully realize that we are being trolled here, but let me say this: I have two little girls who love both the Friends and Star Wars lines. For the 2014 sets, we just aren't that excited. We will buy the Death Star Troopers set, and probably the MicroFighters, but the rest of the 2014 Star Wars wave isn't very impressive. For 2014 Friends? Yeah, we're going to break the bank on those. (Also, I was at my Lego Store on Sunday, and Friends was almost completely sold out. They had Stephanie's Lamb & Water Scooter Fun, and that's it.) -
I was able to rebuilt my old Main Street (6390) for my kids. I left it just as it was. I look at it this way: if my kids are going to build their own stuff, the simpler old-school designs might provide a clearer roadmap than their newer sets.
