"I thought it was the best choice! You and Masson were already in love for crying out loud! Even if I thought about it as a way to control you, that's not why I did what I did! If I could have avoided he choice, I would have, but your stupid little master forced us to make a choice. None were right.

"Everyone, be silent. Don't you see? The very problem that you are trying to bear down upon is the lies that the Regret has sown among you. We are a group, a team, it is our job to work together and to trust each other, we may not have made amazing choices at times, but we must rely on the fact that each choice any of us made was for a reason. Johon may have disobeyed Karie's orders, but everything worked out well. Sure there were some problems with the love potions effects, nevertheless beyond a simple mistake the error was blown out of proportion by the Regret, he lied and tricked and confused you to start fighting among ourselves, why are you letting him win? If we focus on the real problem here, the Regret's lies and confusion tactics we can defeat him, but if we continue the petty arguments about situations that have already occurred and absolutely cannot be changed we are allowing him the victory, even if we kill him, when we are divided he wins. Let's not allow that to happen, focus your anger on him, he is the one truly at fault here."

"While it is encouraging to hear a voice of reason at last, I doubt it will do much good. Karie is most certainly under the Regret's influence and until she is remedied of that malady, she will continue to speak on the Regret's behalf."

No dissent, no arguments, no sloth. Just pure, clean obedience. And with the numbers I have amassed, that will trump any number of humans, no matter how well assembled you are. I've done what I've needed to to ensure that you will not prevail, no matter what the result of this battle is!"

OOC: Only my Roots of Life can heal the whole party, otherwise I can only heal one person at a time. I'm going to be gone for most of the day, Em is in charge of my attacks.

"I think our team is not quite as hate filled as you think, chappo. I get along famously with Em and Punii and that tree over there, and the robot and I will have a normal conversation one day I'm sure." Boomingham grins at the automaton. "So, what's the call, Em? Keep up the attack? You know, boy-o, that's what I like about you so much. You're a straight shooter. 'Cept of course that one time when you helped the Stealer survive. But ah well." Boomingham shrugs and attacks the Tail with his Frozen Saber from the back row.

"We attack until he dies. Perhaps you ought to draw Scupperer soon; give the poison time to take its toll."

Drawing back his bow, Mortimer scowled. "Perhaps letting him live was the wrong choice. I've no clue. But, for now, I'm glad to have another sword."

Karie finds herself head first in the snow, just like every other time. She quickly gets to and tries to hold back her emotions. She felt sore and her back was continually throbbing in pain. She had had enough of being someone else's mouth piece.

"Let's just... get this thing over with." Karie switches to her Blazing Palm and strikes the Spine from the back row.

By the end of the round The Regret is left bleeding and stunned.

yFidQf4.png

"...What an end to this long, long saga... Isn't it, heroes?" The Regret says somberly.

Round Nine Of The Final Battle:

>Boomingham VS The Regret (front): Hit (9+31=40+4=44x8=352-10=342 damage)

...!!!

Boomingham runs over to the stunned Regret dauntlessly, and with his frozen saber, cleaves his shell in two. A crack opens up along his carpace, trickling down his spine, before bursting open. He gives a horrific wail as dark magic comes out of his body in blasts, the cobweb of cracks spreading through his body. The reality around them does similar, the dreary night sky and the endless snowy landscape splitting into pieces. It shatters like a mirror, leaving the heroes back in the Citadel's highest tower, The Regret's body falling into pieces in front of the Lifespark.

Three bright lights - his eyes, the embers of the lifespark, burst of his body last, his formidable from shattered and leaving him nothing more than a flickering ghost.

WVPepG9.png

"The... Embers. Of the Lifespark. I became too weak to control them. They're-"

The tower shakes and rumbles as the three embers still float in the air, all of them pulsing wildly.

WVPepG9.png

"You needed me to keep them in check, you fools! Without my soul to contain them, seperated from the rest of the Lifespark... They're out of my control, and they'll run wild! You've unleashed hell upon us, and I have no way of stopping it...!"

The abyss below them bursts into flames, and then liquifies, becoming a pool of water, before freezing and becoming a jagged field of ice. The entire world around them was going insane, magic running wild inside the massive chamber. light and electiricty dance in frantic bolts around the heroes, nearly incinerating them. Darkness pulses through the room in noxious waves,

the quake growing stronger and stronger. An ethereal hiss becomes louder and louder, culminating in a mighty roar, the carnage growing and growing in intensity. Soon a flash of light rings out, and a majority of the party vanishes into thin air, swept away in the ethereal maelstrom... Leaving some of them alone with The Regret in the magical cataclysm, with no way to escape...

The Regret shouts at the remaining heroes over the carnage.

--------------

In the midst of the chaos, six of the heroes feel a tugging sensation. It grows stronger and stronger as the calamity grows worse - until, in a burst of light, they feel their bodies flung into what can only be described as a void, their mind and form being flung through a great distance. The party sees moment after moment flash past through their eyes, brief glimpses of various histories assaulting their minds during their disorienting experience. They can feel themselves getting weak and fatigued, their conscious mind wavering and their body becoming feeble. Before they past the brink of nonexistence, their journey ends abruptly, depositted in some dank cave. Those six heroes were...

The party stands up, their bones and muscles shaking from the simple task. They felt exhausted and weary, the trip draining them almost completely and utterly.

They get their bearings... Behind them was a massive cave in, a practical mountain of rubble. There was no escape from this cavern. Looking up at the spiked ceiling, they realize that this was the very same cave they fought Seerus in.

"Did... Did w-we... 8wheeze* win? Where we *cough* just... Transported beneath the c-cita-"

It was then the party hears a moan, beloning to someone who was most definitely not a hero...

XwIIekK.png

A horribly gnarled Progg lies in a pool of his own blood and other bodily fluids. He was shaking and convulsing horribly, clutching his body in pain in between lapses of limpness. He moans and shrieks as more and more cuts appear on his carapace, his blue scales being bleached a deathly white. Black, bony spikes emerge from his back, tearing through his body, creating even more wounds. A corona of dark magic surrounds the poor animal, rippling through his body, filling him with an unimaginable agony. In etween roars of pain white globs of light burst from his body and float away, dissolving into nothing...

He turns and speaks to the heroes, blood pouring out of his face grate, his eyes demented and pain-stricken.

"Who... Are... You...? What do you..."

Another spike bursts from his back, piercing his skin.

"AAAAUUUUUURGH!"

"Who are we missing?" asks Boomingham, glancing around. "The Stealer, Johon? Alice." A deep exhale. He slips his swords back into their scabbards. "And who is this chappo?" After a few wobbly steps forward, Boomingham squints. "Don't look like you're doing too well, chappo. I'm Lord Lawrence T. Boomingham, a True Hero, slayer of the Bluehood and Poisoner and Regret. Who are you?"

"My name... my name i-is... Prometheus, and I..."

Another sharp howl of pain. prometheues lurhces to the side to hack up a mixture of blood, dark magic, and bile, before collapsing to the floor in exhaustion and defeat.

"I don't know... How in the world you got here, but... You must help me, please..."

qi64g.png

"P-prometheus?" Punii wheezes between choked breaths, the journey taking a toll on him. "But that's... *wheeze* what The Regret called himself before..."

Lm1otRd.png

"The... Regret? You keep mentioning a Regret..."

Prometheus coils up to reduce the pain, more wounds appearing on his body - as if by magic.

"Well damn." Boomingham licks his lips as Barty bursts into existence. "What's the call, little guy? Past? Present?"

"It doesn't matter. He dies."

"Wel that part I ain't so sure about." With a glance towards Em, Boomingham licks his lips again. "We've got a leader who gets to weigh in. And I'm not sure where my vote goes myself." He looks towards the poor Progg. "Though we ain't got much time either way."

"You will never learn, will you, Lawrence. Never."

"I stole a... I'm a slave, to humans, and I stole some of their magic, and the caves... they caved in, and I thought I could save myself with it, but..."

Prometheus's claw unfurls, revealing a charred scroll. Only one word is still readable on it: "Animutilav."

"The angel... The angel can likely feel how dark, how powerful, this scroll is. Please...Kill me, before it's too late..."

"No." Boomingham expands any and all his ether to heal the Progg. "What you've done, you've done. Your punishment will come when it comes."

Boomingham tries to heal promteheues, but it fails. The aura of dark magic, created by Animutilav, snaps at Boomingham, forcing the paladin to move backwards unless he wanted a dose of the magic being pumped through Prometheues. Content it had repelled Boomingham, the aura returns to torturing Prometheus.

Lm1otRd.png

"There's no dispelling this magic... And there's no escape from here either... Please, kill me, I beg of you. None of us are leaving this place - just kill me, please!"

Karie feels weak, throbbing in pin from the previous fight. She realized where they were, but said nothing. She holds onto Sexy's hilt, feeling sick to her stomach.

With a shrug, Boomingham responds to the tree: "I don't mean good or bad by healing this Progg. I have been to the past twice now. If this is the third, this Progg will not die. I long clung to the idea that perhaps I'd be able to alter what has happened, but I know by now it is foolish. This Progg will live to be The Regret." Boomingham looks at the Progg. "But for the time being, he is but a slave who fought back against what he thought was unjust. The Regret will shatter who he is now regardless, but his last moments may be either painful, or not. I already assisted The Regret in having an unpleasant end, such as he deserved. Perhaps I can assist this chap with a pleasant end, something he deserves as well." Boomingham redoubles his efforts to heal the Progg, or at least ease his pain, regardless of the cost of ether.

The aura of darkness once again lunges at Boomingham, causing his attempts to fail and wasting his ether...

"But I'm... I'm pretty *wheeze* sure The regret said this lasted for almost three *cough* weeks... We may be with him, and the magic in him, for a while..."

Lm1otRd.png

"Who?! Who is The Regret?!"

qi64g.png

"And... *wheeze* we're just as trapped here as Prometheus is. I don't know if there's any way out of here..."
