LEGO Universe

Hi all, yesterday evening we announced the official name for the LEGO Online MMOG (= Massively Multiplayer Online Game) which is LEGO Universe. We had also some press coverage in Danish Television. So I want to give you some sketches, links and information and ask you to distribute these information if you like.

This should be interesting. Who's developing this game? The same guys that did LEGO Star Wars?

I'm hoping this turns out to be "Sims" like. I like the idea of choosing a minifig as your character and being given apartment space, which you can then decorate with LEGO bricks. You could create your own furniture, TV, bed, etc. Even divide up your apartment space into seperate rooms with LEGO bricks. You could even be given a car base to build upon which would become your ride!

Of course, this is just how I hope it turns out. :-)

Funny you don't mention all the figs in the "past" :-P Those are a variety of customs from MCN, notably Red Bean's elven helm and Nick Great's White Ninja! What an honor!

Actually, I think that's a samurai hence the helmet and the armor. ;-)

I'm puzzled by this move. Why is Lego repeating the disaster of video games? Lego specifically moved out of that arena to focus on its own core branding. I hope and pray they're not developing this product - as if they are, in-house, we're likely to see a legoland-esque actual release date of 2009 I'm guessing.

I hope and pray they're not developing this product - as if they are, in-house, we're likely to see a legoland-esque actual release date of 2009 I'm guessing.

LEGO is not developing this game - it's being developed by a company called NetDevil, which has experience in MMORGs.

The concept is one that can be really neat, as they are pursuing a game that has the same type of environment as WoW. I think that they will be heading toward Second Life also in style where your minifig can interact and build online and have this tied in with LEGO Factory.

2. if they are selling software how much that costs.

3. how much ram it takes.

4. what quality of graphics card is needed to play.

5. however many of my freinds that think lego is a little kids toy make fun of me for playing this during school hours.

6. how much time ill end up wasting on this and how sleep deprived it will make me.

Nope cause it's not really a world of warcraft-like one. Actually I'm pretty excited about this. Depends on what we'll be able to do and how people have to interract with ecah other

I haven't read barely anything about this MMORPG ( *wacko* ) but I am puzzled towards why Lego is using these customs in official pictures?!? They didn't ask the artists like you, BB, did they? It was your army officer. ....

In the past section they also put in Nick's White Samurai, Armothe/Redbean's hoplite, Rebean's Boromir, and a 4+ pirate fig! 8-|

Really?Thats good. I was speaking to one of the other ambassadors and they said lego was probably only using them as inspiration.
