Recreations: Robel Bullok & Plasser Theurer MTW100

Recommended Posts

Been working on these for a while but finally finished.

I have recreated two fantastic models. A Robel Bullok 54.22 and a Plasser & Theurer MTW100.

The bullok i first found years ago in a Kibri model train catalogue. I loved it and wanted to build in Lego. I'm no master builder, so couldnt get my head around it. Anyway found this www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=288796. Again wasnt happy or confidant about it. Finally got my backside into gear this year. It was a great experience building these, learning a tonne of building techniques, and using a tonne of reverse engineering, and trial and error.

These are really great! I am actually not a great train fan, but I have always loved those maintenance ones for some reason. And I think you did these really well, very realistic and they just look good :classic:

Nice work. I collected a bunch of Robel pictures but never got my butt in gear to build one. Your model matches the pics. :classic:

Thanks guys. While I'll accept praise for these models the real credit must go to the original builders whose work i have copied. They did the hard work of getting it to work and look right.

I love both of them!

You've done a great work ...the model I like the most is the Robel Bullok: the side windows of the cab are fantastic with those yellow wedge plates.

Only one question: the wagon looks really long, how does it engage corners and switches?

Great work there Venturedude. You should be happy with your creation.

No unfortunately it cannot traverse corners. I haven't tried any points. While some may see this a negative, I don't. Using the original creators comments i knew this couldn't do the corners. More pride in getting it to work for me. Also its now a mantle piece creation

Thanks for your answer, you can use two turntables on the two pair of wheels and one universal joint to keep the wheels aligned after the curves!

Thanks LT12V will have a look at that. There misght not be the strength in the sub frame especially at the rear. But still worthy of a look and see.

Had a good look last night. As I thought the frame is tied into the train boggie piece. It would need a complete redesign to enable it to work. Part of the problem would be the width of the unit. At some points (especially over the boggies) it is 7 studs wide. There are a few jumper bricks in there.

ran the Plasser Thereur at a local expo recently. It made some of the standard 4x curves, but not others. It also was thwarted by the passenger bridge.

Untitled

cheers
