The results for the second 2019 review season just got published. The Medieval Blacksmith and Winnie the Pooh passed.

I think the blacksmith is an amazing build, only afraid it may block the Foresmen Tower's approval as of the same theme (after it gets 10k of course as it surely will considering it's the fastest growing idea at the moment)

Very good choices, especially Blacksmith. I'm curious how they'll handle the characters of Winnie the Pooh, the way they're presented in the submission is alright, but we all know they'd be much better with specialised molds :innocent: we shall see, but I'll probably pick it up, I always liked the franchise

I feel its a shame Winnie the Pooh made the cut. The set almost looks like a miniature version of the treehouse and it is one of those sets that could/would have been a set within the Disney line at some point in time. I get that the ‘pick-a-popular-franchise’ method works great in IDEAS, but I’d rather see franchises that normally would never be a set, like F•R•I•E•N•D•S, Dr. Who, Voltron, Adventure Time, The Flintstones and The Big Bang Theory managed.

That said, I get the choice, Winnie the Pooh will most likely sell a lot better than Thunderbirds. The Office would probably outsell every single IDEAS set ever, but NBC has their own take on selling their franchise: https://www.diply.com/100117/theres-a-new-office-themed-lego-set-on-the-market

I think it might block a lot of similar builds in the pipeline, but I was very wrong with my guess this round so maybe I am wrong :shrug_oh_well:

I really hoped for Seven Dwarfs's House but I should say that these two ideas absolutely deserve it. I really hope that we'll get good new molds for Winnie The Pooh, it just doesn't work the way it is now ))

I too am a bit saddened by the rejection of the Dwarves' Cottage, though I suppose it did technically conflict with the already existing Disney Princesses line. :sceptic:

However, for me the approval of The Medieval Blacksmith does help make up for that loss, because it is just as beautiful as the Cottage (if not better), and that it's an original build is probably for the better, especially for Classic Castle fans.

My guess is that Winnie The Pooh just won the battle between those two Disney sets being more popular among the kids + less expensive in production considering sizes and details. Yeah... a bit sad, Seven Dwarfs' House is an A+ design

Well, as I just contemplated over on another topic, there's always that chance Lego could revisit the project in the same manner that they did for 2015's UCS Helicarrier and the following year's Ghostbusters HQ, considering that those sets and a few other coincidental examples had very similar LEGO Ideas projects preceding them.

I think Haunted Mansion might already be in the works for the Disney Parks D2C line which could be why it wasn’t chosen.

I'm also kind of expecting Thunderbirds to pass as well, which leaves me with mixed emotions. On the one hand, my inner child is squealing in delight at the thought of a Lego Thunderbirds set. But if this project passes review then all other Thunderbirds Ideas projects will be blocked, and it it fails the review then it means Lego has no interest in producing a Thunderbirds set, so either way my own Lego Ideas project is basically finished.

I wouldn’t give up all hope. Adventure Time showed that just because one project based on a particular licensed property was declined once doesn’t necessarily mean that there’s no chance they’ll ever do that property. And heck, the just-released ISS was based on a specific project that was declined, and then got a second chance.

Thunderbirds’ chances of ever getting an Ideas set might be exceedingly slim, to be sure, but not quite zero.

That's quite possible, and likewise regarding The Dwarves' Cottage, as Lego could've already had such a set in the works for the Disney Princesses line, though of course as a moderately-priced retail set rather than a larger D2C. On the other hand, Lego may be cooking-up D2Cs based upon both the Mansion and the Cottage in anticipation of their rejection in review.

Another possibility is that Lego may be working in a D2C 7 dwarves rollercoaster (as in Disney World Park) as a companion to Disney Castle and Train.

Does anyone think we see the Futurama Planet Express as a set?

I'd love to see it... but doubtful as a set.  Only seen MOCs of it.

That’s a shame.  I love the version that’s in review stage at the moment.  The fact it got to 10’000 supporters so quick shows how much people want Futurama.  Not to mention there is a second Futurama set nearly at 10’000 I believe.

I also dont think it’s worse than Simpson’s or Friends and both have them have received sets.

Is that the Keaton Batmobile?

Nope, it's a completely original creation, inspired after the Decopunk/Retrofuturistic work of Vincent Gashod, most particularly his SL20 Streamliner...

40430513682_bd5f1b07ec_c.jpg

Here's a description by the project's creator that explains what sorta particular niche his creation fits into...

Quote

First presented in the 1933 Chicago's World Fair, the Hispano-Suiza Savanna Master represents the pinnacle of the Old Continent's car technology.

The Savanna Master is powered by a HS v12 engine, rated 800 horsepower. Somewhat underwhelming if compared with other supercars like the SL20 Streamliner. However, what it lacks in raw horsepower is overcompensated by its groundbreaking front driving nacelles, capable of adaptive roll and pitch correction. The result is unparalleled adherence, even in the uncambered expressways that are so common in the Old Continent.

I love Dieselpunk aesthetics, which are strongly influenced by the Art Deco and the streamline design. Streamlining is like the grandfather of car aerodynamics, and it roughly began during the golden age of the interwar period between WW1 and WW2. Always wanted to build something in this fashion.

The Savanna Master is directly inspired by the works of Lego Dieselpunk Master Vincent Toulouse. If you don’t know Vince’s artworks, then you should check his photostream in Flickr. Really cool stuff. His SL20 Streamliner is the direct ancestor of the Savanna Master.

The Savanna Master is an attempt to achieve a vehicle fully dominated by curved, smooth surfaces. A streamliner in the classic sense. I'm not an expert in Lego sets, but I believe Lego has never produced something similar. the car also hides some interesting building concepts, like a 45° tilted body cover.

I was so sad to see that the Seven Dwarves’ Cottage didn’t make it through ( pleased as I am for Winnie the Pooh .. Ben is a fantastic guy )

The Cottage was an amazing design .. and as Snow White herself says in the movie “just like a dolls house” .. would have been a day one purchase for me .. never say never though .. hopefully something may appear one day. I’ll see what they come up with for the Winnie the Pooh minifigs .. the mess they made ( just my opinion ) with the Flintstones still lingers in my mind.

There was a canceled Simpsons house project a short time before the official Lego set was released. I wouldn't give up hope.

To be honest i think it can be objectively said that the flintstones figures were really bad compared to the way Lego did the Simpsons and now the Minions. I know the "no moulds for ideas"-rule. But in that case there should have been an exception for Fred and Barney or the set should not have been made. The worst case happened with less characters and designs of a much lower quality than the original creator did. There is no excuse for Barneys long legs. The guy responsible should be ashamed.

Do we know how long an ideas set can be in production between anouncement and release? I can only imagine Winnie Pooh reusing cmf moulds like Steamboat Willie did.

Thanks @Gorilla94 .. I never realised there had been a cancelled Simpson’s House idea .. I think I was still slightly in my dark ages then .. totally agree with you over the huge mistake of Barney’s long legs .. short legs would have been best or even the ‘teen’ legs that were due to be revealed not long after !

I chatted with the chap who created the Seven Dwarves’ Cottage and said I hoped if they did green light the idea one thing I hoped they would do would be to give Dopey his ears ( attached to the hat ) they were such a big part of his character.

I keep looking at the pictures and thinking I’ll build my own .. but then realise a lot of the parts don’t come in those actual colours !

I’ll keep my fingers crossed it may appear in the future : )

If this is the case with Seven Dwarfs then fingers crossed they will go for the beautiful design that was submitted to Ideas. I understand it might be painful for creator but the entire Lego community would be happy!

Just to make sure: i am no leaker. I have no insider informations. It is just my thought because of the Simpsons house.

There was a little difference to the Simpsons house, too. It was deleted by Lego without comment before it was able to reach the review phase.

If Lego does such a set it could be "inspired" by the Design. It was the same with the Ghostbusters HQ.

So... what's the appeal in that set other than the fact that it's based on a popular IP? It's just a bunch of miniscale builds and three minifigures we have gotten already.

Plus, isn't Kingdom of the Crystal Skull also part of the franchise? Shouldn't that movie also be represented there?
