[pid][/pid] Cannon MOC Other 3C

Hello,

we have seen some interesting custom-made cannons and mortars recently which got me inspired to create something myself.

So, here is the Royal Horse Artillery testing out the latest mortar models:

Some detail shots:

I have always loved the Royal Horse Artillery (I used to have some plastic soldiers) and so I am very happy to have recreated them here.

(I had the grey barrels for a long time not know what to do with them...)

Have a nice Sunday!

I got them as a present from my brother-in-law. He says he's found them in Legoland Windsor some years back.

The only model I know of, which made use of these, was the star destroyer (version 2).

Nothing like a good bombardment to completely wreck the enemies fortification!

Custom torso designs I see - are they your own design?

The torsos are not my design. I found them in some decal database - most likely it was somewhere in this forum (but I could not find it now).

Jolly good then! Bombs away!

Dear Captain Golden Hook - you will be happy to hear that TLG have used grey barrels in their recent Star Wars sets (e.g. Mos Eisley Cantina - there is one in there...)

They actually look a bit better than mine (which are "old dark grey" and hence a bit brownish).

I'm not sure how I missed this. I really like the designs you have presented, and the figures are excellent! How did you make the hats? They are very nice!

I am also very fond of the hats.

There's a company in the Netherlands (am I allowed to mention their name here?) who does 3d printing. And one of the designers there does custom lego hats of the Napoleonic era.

I have painted them following the way my father painted the plastic "Royal Horse Artillery" soldiers (made by a UK company) for me in the seventies. pirate_classic.gif

.. and one hat is the usual bicorne (maybe it was black and my wife added the white bits, thanks!).

Thanks for blogging this!

Where can I find this decal database ?

Mikkie

Hi AllezLesBleuxPX / Mikkie:

you might want to take a look at: The great pirate torso LIBRARY

(which is part of this forum)

I think I might have used some of Woody's designs too:

On flickr you will find:

LEGO Stickers & Decals

I hope this helps.

Hi!

These mortars have drawn a surprising high level of interest.

Therefore, I have prepared an update:

The Royal Horse Artillery are trying out a new model:

Surprisingly, at the same time, some other guys are working on their own mortar:

Enjoy!
