WIP Ghostbusters Fire House/Scotsburgh Fire Dept Station

This build has been a slow "Labour of Love" since summer 2012. I have made many modifications to it throughout the past 18 months.

And now that Brent Waller's Ghostbuster's 30th Anniversary Ecto-1 Cuusoo project won the latest Cuusoo review I thought now was a good a time as any to post this build.

There are a few Lego Ghostbuster Fire House's on the web and I drew my inspiration from Sean Kenny's build which you will see some similarities.

My intention is to have this as a "Working" Fire station as part of my Scotsburgh Fire Dept.

The following pictures are of first version of building. The first photo is of the station footprint and street.

This photo is of the ground floor Appliance Hall with appliance doorway.

I then realised that the Appliance Hall wasnt going to be wide enough so, I took version 1 down and revised the footprint and changed the door at the back of the Applaince Hall to lead straight onto the pavement

As can be seen from this photo and the one above, the front and back and both sides of the First and Second floors are symetrical

And this photo shows the size of the building with the Fire engine alongside. It does fit into the Appliance Hall under the Archway, just.

Good looking WIP, Scottwb. This is going to be a very nice firehouse. As for posting flickr pics, you just have to make sure to select the bbc code instead of the jpeg one, and make sure it's the correct size. It took me a while to figure it out, too. There is a tutorial here somewhere, but sorry, I cannot find it.

Looks great indeed. Could you provide a link to Sean Kenney's original creation so that we can compare both? Not everybody (myself included) might know Sean's design.

I guess the Cuusoo Ecto-1 (if that's the Ecto you mean) wouldn't pass through here - it's nearly 9 studs wide (plus GB gear at the side)

Good point Only Sinner. You may find the correct icon (with an arrow) for that function directly under the photo. Then "Grab the HTML/BBCode". Select "Medium" and "BBcode" - that's all to get the right code.

Thanks Godtshep. I don't think my applaince hall door isn't wide enough for the Ecto-1 as its only 8 wide and the Ecto-1 has bits on the side that will hamper it going in and out. Just have to leave it on the pavement I guess.

Yeh 'Erol' I forgot to include a link to Sean Kenny's version. I will add it. Your right in that I don't think the Ecto-1 will fit as my appliance doorway is only 8 wide.

Well time for an update. Now brickshelf is back up, I have been able to have my photo's of Version 1 and 2 in with my posts as I couldn't managed it through flickr.

After getting to the stage of my last photo of version 2, I thought it was more like a clone copy of Sean Kenny's GBFH build as can be seen here, http://www.seankenne...ters_firehouse/ and I was hoping to use my build in a layout next to or close to other buildings so this would mean the windows at the back and left side would be rendered as being of not much use.

On looking at photo's of the real Fire Station, which i built most of my model from, there wern't any that showed the back and left side until I came accross ones by Francseco Spreafico,

From this it was a move onto Version 3 and you can see my changes in the following photo's:

Front Left

Left Side

Back Left

Back Right

Hopefully people will like the changes I have made with Version 3 and that this sets it out differently from other builds of the GBFH. Comments welcome.

Hey, that's me! Glad my photos helped, what's funny is that I took them exactly for this reason, build a Ghostbusters Firehouse as faithful to the original as possible (someday I will build one too), and no one ever really shows the "dark side" of the building.

Hi Laz75. Can I through the magic of the internet and this sight, thank you very much for posting these photo's. I really wanted to make it like the real Station/Fire House but as I said there was no way of seeing what was "hidden" until your photo's were shown. They were a god send. Cheers
