Tanotrooper Posted April 25, 2007 Bonjour everybody, this is the first post of my french army, of course under command of Napoleon I. It now consist of: Line: 5 line infantry 1 drummer 1 officer Other: 1 grenadier/Old guard 1 faceless 8-( Napoleon (the head is on its way) I'm proud of the design for the grenadier. Credits go to Bonaparte for the idea of the tires for the bearskin hat. I discovered many uses for all those useless rubber bands. The thick bands keep the bayonet better in place than the thin black ones. On the other hand: Why do grenadiers attack with bayonet when they have a sabre? The Old guard was known for charging only with bayonet, but not all grenadiers were from the guarde imp
Mister Phes Posted April 25, 2007 Well, my first comment is: Threads that have pictures in the first post command more attention and usually get more and faster responses. So I've put a picture there for you so your hard work can be seen by all! My second comment is: A flesh coloured Imperial army! I haven't seen a user with this many Imperial Guard "fleshies" before! My first question is: What happened to poor old Napoleon's face?
simonwillems Posted April 25, 2007 Wow! That looks great, I must get used to those fleshies.... but you made good use of tem. I like the bajonets with the rubberbands and the belts, I have tried that also a long time ago but after some time the rubberbands started to "vaporize". My first question is: What happened to poor old Napoleon's face? Maybe he faced defeat..... :-D
Tanotrooper Posted April 25, 2007 My first question is: What happened to poor old Napoleon's face? Well, I ordered the schumacher head for him, but until it arrives, he's faceless... Thanks for the help *sweet* Gaetano
Mister Phes Posted April 25, 2007 Wow! That looks great, I must get used to those fleshies.... but you made good use of tem. The thought of fleshies in the Pirate theme doesn't seem appealing to me, but they do actually look good in the pictures. Mr Trooper, is there any particular reason you chose fleshies over old yellow heads?
Mosana Posted April 25, 2007 Very nice figures. Especially the grenadiers with the cords and plumes on their bearskins. Excellent work.
Bonaparte Posted April 25, 2007 Now I'm in heaven!!! It's great the see that someone who also lives in Belgium started collecting a Napoleonic army. First time I see your Napoleon decal on a minifig. I just printed it and it looks great on my Napoleon. I just got the idea to make a complete gray coat but I'll need to do some experimenting.
Mister Phes Posted April 26, 2007 You have some competition Mr Bonaparte! You'll both have to build up your armies then war against each other - the victor gets to rule Belgium :-D
Capn Frank Posted April 26, 2007 Well, I ordered the schumacher head for him, but until it arrives, he's faceless...Thanks for the help *sweet* Gaetano What set does the schumacher head come in? I'm pretty sure B used a Luke Skywalker head for his napoleon. P

Fordo Posted April 29, 2007 This is the Schumacher head, http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=3626bpb262. Since he is doing fleshie's I think this is a pretty good head for Napoleon.

Mister Phes Posted May 7, 2007 That's awesome! Here's your picture of Napoleon. It would be good to get a clear close-up picture of him alone next time you're doing a photoshoot. But he does look quite good from what I can see.
Fordo Posted May 7, 2007 Nice, that Napoleon looks very good, finding all those Shako's is tough though. >:-(

Tanotrooper Posted May 30, 2007 (edited) UPDATE 30 MAY 2007 my bricklink order arrived, I could snatch 11 soldiers for a reasonable price. My army now counts 25 soldiers without Napoleon (wich will get new official clothes). I will place a big order on flesh faces soon. Comments are extremely welcome as always! P.S. 2 bayonets are also added. I'm also going to buy more of those rubber bands.
