So, to start filling my hangar, I present you my JFAIR build:

A 9394 C-model: The X29

It has working landing gear, and the joystick controls both the front canard wings and the afterburner.

This was a fun build, but actually not intended to just be a C-model.

I started building a X-29 about a year ago, but I just couldn't work it out.

Although i had some nice parts worked out, like the landing gear, the build was to complex for me.

So, this is a more simplified model, and i'm happy with the result.

9394 has a very limited part range, so you just have to re-use some of the techniques from the A-model. Like you can see at the above bottom-shot.

I wanted the front wheel below the cockpit, so getting in the landing gear and the joystick was a little tricky.

Hope you like it.

Edit: changed the set number, since it was obviously the wrong one, and I had a brainfart when putting this together...

Ahh a Grumman X29 a beautiful test aircraft. I remember seeing it at the air and space museum in Washington DC

What a wonderful design. It is nice to see a X-29 again, and great use of 9394. Very well done.

Thank you

9391? I think you mean 9394? Anyway, looks good!

You're right! Adjusted. Had a brainfart... And thank you

I was on the fence about maybe getting this set used, simply because it's NOT a piece of construction equipment. This sets down the law: I MUST get this set sometime. The X-29 was my favorite plane once I learned of it.

The 9394 is a very nice set. The A-model is well constructed, and Grohl made a nice helicopter alternative.

So, you can build some models from it once you get it :sweet:

Great job!!! But, from my recollection, the X-29 was white (or maybe light beige) and blue. The upcoming cargo plane should provide the necessary parts.

Yeah, but then it wouldn't be a C-model!

My newest addition to the hangar: 42024 C-model - Tow Truck

I got 42024 for my birthday and took it with me on holiday to build a nice C-model.

Well here it is:

42024cTT002.jpg

42024 is a nice set:

It comes with 6 of the new style wheels, which I think have a great size. Not to big, not to small.

The set also uses exactly zero of this piece: 4120017.jpg

Part 32140 - Technic Beam 2 x 4 L-Shape Thick

I think this is notable, since it is a very useful part.

Other notifications:

The set comes with a lot of beams, and has few perpendicular connection parts.

Building with it makes it extra hard, since you have to be careful where you use them.

My goal was to build an american style truck.

I had the hood design in my head, and the rest just flowed from there.

Functions:

- Steering

- Openable hood

- Opening doors

- Gearbox with two functions

1) Raising and lowering the crane

2) Extending and retracting the chains

- Raising and lowering the wheel lift

- Room for a spare tire (not included in the set)

Building proces

As mentioned I wanted to build an american style truck.

At first i wanted to build the gearbox between the rear wheels, like in the official set, but this got in the way of the large actuator.

Having already build the cabine, i figured if it was still possible to switch the gearbox to the cabine.

And it did!

Additional advantage of the switch was using even less parts, so they could be used elsewhere.

42024cTT006.jpg

Since this set only offers a two function gearbox, the wheel lift had to have it's own controls.

The remaining gears were used for this function.

The 12-tooth gear controls the raising and lowering, and is secured by the yellow axle connector.

C-models always trigger some creative part use, hence the first ever exhaust with adjustable height

Seriously, I think the big actuator forms a great exhaust part.

I hope you like it as much as i had designing and building it.

Instructions are on it's way, but don't hold your breath.

I have never seen a La getting used for an exhaust before.

Some people (Allanp) would probably thank you for one of the most "realistic" uses of La's yet.

It is a very good C model with good functionality.

Well done  I like very much that X-29, you've captured original plane shape really nice with only parts from 9394, amazing :classic: And that 42024 C-model looks ten times cooler than original A or B models ever  Your hangar looks cool and promising already, I'll be waiting what you will add in it in the future, nice start man
