Hello, I was just wondering if anyone has done a rather fast RC car WITHOUT the use of an RC buggy motor or the new servo motor ?

Yes, very light/basic and small chassis with an L motor and 40 toothgear on 8 toothgear, it works pretty well :)

I done one one with an xl motor and an m motor very recently. I geared the xl motor 20-12t but one sure you could go 24-8t, mine weighed about 520 grams. :)

Hello, how did this perform and do you have any photos of the chassis by any chance ?

I first did it with the xl, but when the L came out i replaced it. The steering was done with a m motor and a hockey spring for return to center. I also used the lipo batterie for saving weight, but it was easily changable to a normal BB.

My bike has 2 L motors bolted together, if you combine that with a AAA/Lipo battery box it should go some :)

It was quite fast & I could take some pictures of what's left of it, I'll post some links in a few mins.

[edit] here is a view of the xl motor, the universal joint ran to a live axle

And here is a view of the m motor, the steering was geared 8-24t.

I used the 56 x 26 tires, use them or a little bigger and try to keep your car under 500g and you should be able to gear the xl motor 24-8t.
