ResIpsaLoquitur Posted December 3, 2013 (edited) So I caved in and put together an entry for this year's contest after all. Since we're going for a carnival theme, I think we need more rides, and what's more fun than kids driving Go-Karts? (EBers in the U.S. and Canada should know what these are--do they have go-karts in the rest of the world? They're small cars on a safe track that kids can drive.) Obviously I couldn't make a whole track, so consider this a "vignette." The kids will undoubtedly drive off on a fictional continuous track rather than crashing into the other market stands! Here's an alternate view so you can get a better look at the other car and see them from the rear. Overhead view: Back view. Updates: I forgot that I had some flags, so I decided to add those. Race tracks always need flags! I also added some oil drums (which may or may not have been stolen from the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier) to make it look more "race-trackey." Finally, I decided to make the checkered starting line one layer deeper, which I think looks much better. Enjoy, and good luck to all entrants! Andy D Posted December 3, 2013 Great little vig! I never thought of a go-cart track as a Winter event, but reconsidering my thoughts a Winter Village go-cart track could be more fun than any other time of the year. Normally you can't drift those rental go-carts, but on snow........ Let the drifting fun begin! Good luck in the contest. Andy D
dr_spock Posted December 3, 2013 Nice. The track could be white for snow/ice. Then you can have real ice racing.
Paperballpark Posted December 3, 2013 Very good! I can confirm that we have Go-karts here in the UK. Karting in the rain is brilliant fun

NoEinstein Posted December 3, 2013 Looks great! Is the green driver getting a black flag, better hope it is for a mechanical failure not rude driving :) In the Netherlands we have go-karts/karts too both indoors and outdoors. Good luck in the contest.
ResIpsaLoquitur Posted December 3, 2013 Looks great! Is the green driver getting a black flag, better hope it is for a mechanical failure not rude driving :) I think the other kid is waving a flag just to be cute. I wish I had a Lego checkered flag to use instead!
NoEinstein Posted December 3, 2013 You moved him, sneaky . It was a bit of fun, I guessed it should have been a checkered flag or something.
lightningtiger Posted December 3, 2013 Nice entry......but those karts don't have any snow tyres on them.......plus there is snow piled to the sides of the track.....i.e. race lines. Anyway, great work, good luck and Brick On 'RL' !

TheOrcKing Posted December 31, 2013 Cool little entry; I really dig the checkered start in tiles. On another note, has anyone thought about doing a small RC track as an entry? Might be interesting to see.
ResIpsaLoquitur Posted December 31, 2013 Thanks for all the kind comments, everybody. I see a lot of really cool entries appearing all the time, so I don't think I nearly have a chance at 1st place--but this was a lot of fun nonetheless! (I'd be happy if I won 3rd or 4th at this point, so if you want to cast a spare vote my way, thanks!) Good luck to everyone!
