So the other one is the legged/walker models? :-P

Talking about something low level  It does indeed fit the "big" contest idea.

Actually, both my ideas aren't necessarily about big builds.

@Jim As the GBC is nearly done, can you give us a glimpse of your two new ideas? :-P

Uhmmm yes. This is what I sent to Milan a couple of days ago.

(Classic) Space
I thought it would be cool to have a classic space contest, where people need to build a classic space set...in Technic. However, the color scheme will probably be an issue. Since blue isn't very popular anymore, people won't have much blue. Panels are not available etc etc. So maybe just turn it into a regular space contest. Build a space themed set.

Modular Vehicle
This is something I have been thinking about for a long time as well. Build a car chassis with two types of bodywork. The chassis and bodywork(s) need to be attached and detached using 3L pin connectors. For this contest only one type of wheels and rims are allowed.

Considering we already did life on mars contest(TC16) I think normal space theme is not good. But fantasy space will awesome.

It definitely opens much more variants... I remember City/System had cush crazy subthemes as:

  • Galaxy Squad with insect-like lime alien vehicles vs orange human futuristic vessels
  • Alien Conquest with similar lime alien vehicles vs full-blue giant human machinery (a-la Classic Space reborn)
  • and absolutely fantastic for Technic replication Space Police 3, with bright-colored "evil" truck-alike flying sonthign that holds, hooks and steals something. They are the farest away form he original Space themes but way to open for Techic indtruders.

If you include Blacktron/MTron/Space Police the options expand a lot, and It's still classic in my mind.

Also, isn't Blacktron the greatest thing ever? Seeing ideas in Technic would blow my mind.

Hmmm I kinda forgot about that one. Let me check it out.

Yeah, that is way too similar with what I had in mind. Can't believe it forgot about it. That was a very nice contest.

What about space themed restricted to LEGO set alternates?

Space sounds fun, but I'm not particularly interested in the modular car one. I guess I'm just sick of building cars at this point!

Vehicles....not only cars hehe. But you are right, it's more of the same (with a slight twist).

Space Police & Robbers

I am starting to like this idea.

Space Police & Space Robbers

Something like TC7 but in space.

Speaking of fantasy, I rise up this again.

@Jim will writing rules but I has another contest idea

We need build car. But car must come in movie, game and toy.

And not allowed model based any kind of real car.

So

Knight rider K.I.T.T is based pontiac firebird - not allowed

Ghost busters ECTO-1 is based classic cadllic - not allowed

Hot wheels Twin mill is not based any real car - allowed

Justice league batmobile is not based any real car - allowed

How about this idea?

The reason why I banned the model based on the actual vehicle is simply that we already make a/have a large amount of the actual vehicle model.

It's also because I don't want to see real cars in simulation games such as Forza and Gran Turismo in the name of "vehicle in the game."

Only exception of this rule is concept car. like TV serise batmobile - Lincoln futura.

Or how about one-set alternative theme?

I am not entirely sure what you mean. When I read your description, I'm confused.

We had a small car contest and small construction vehicle contest, but how about a small truck contest? Is it too similar to the construction vehicle contest? I'm thinking of also other kinds of trucks besides those used in construction, like tow trucks, container trucks or tanker trucks. Maybe limit it to commercial vehicles meant to be used on public roads, so no trial trucks or race trucks.

Just an idea, perhaps for the future.

Is this still aimed to be a Technic contest? What are the typical technical / functional aspects of space police models??? Or is it just that my imagination is not vivid enough? I haven't even seen any non-space related technic police models..

Idea for a future contest:

helicopter challenge

Since we have new helicopter parts.

I would prefer medium scale or larger  because small helicopters wont even be able have many functions.

It can be any form factor as long as it include at least one propellor and it must spin but does not have to be motorized.

It could have any number of functions, preferably non weapon based. Think things like folding landing gear, pivoting front steering, landing gear shock absorbrs, LEDs, any sort of moving aerodynamic flaps, rear cargo/person bay, opening floor cargo/person bay on the bottom, working engines, cyclic adjustment, collective adjustment, working joysticks, working pedals, cabin doors, winches, sliding cargo/person side doors, sliding engine covers, fire hoses using pnumatuc parts from city/technic, etc etc.

Any of the above may or may not be motorized.

Thoughts?

Yeah, what about a Need-for-Speed contest with maybe 2 categories "robbers and gendarmes" :pir_laugh2:?.. I always wanted to build a car in 2 versions like these e.g.:

400x232.jpg400x187.jpg

Please don´t consider this as a commitment to ever take part in a contest (I´m a poor slow builder :hmpf_bad:)...

I think, the aim that they do not exist in our life and have no typical things...

Hmm.. Like in one of NFS videogames, Police versions had caltrops-spikes, EMP, and other "catching" functions. While "getaway" cars had turbo-nitro-boost abilities. That could make a challenge - if you need to add a "booster" or "buster", not only different color scheme.

Let's not do cars.

There are already way too many cars around here. Mostly caused by sets, but as MOCs I also feel they are overpopular.

I like the space robbers & police kinda stuff. I have not the slightest idea what to build, but at least it's something original and new. I know I had a lot of fun with TC7 :)

Second this. Cars are way too common, and the small car contest was only a couple of years ago.

On the other hand is the most popular theme. It could get a lot more attention, drag more MOCers into the contest and probably more people into the forum . Despite the Lego company does it no justice at all, delivering the same boring stuff year after year. Let´s contrast that in a creative way!

Space Police is certainly an original idea. But I agree with the opinion that it will be difficult to implement in the style of Lego technic.
And everything can turn into a competition of system models.

- A modular vehicle would also work well for a Technic theme.

- The theme of walkers was once voiced. I would vote for her.

- road and municipal vehicles

- mechanized animals

If at some point in time the goal will be to move away from cars, I actually like these themes!

Though I still haven't seen / participated in a car contest.. But if it's a modular vehicle, swappable bodywork is not the most interesting option for me; that means we have to build the functional part once, and the non-functional twice. It would be more interesting to swap the chassis then :) Something like a stock vs off-road version with the same body. How about that?

It seems look like homologation rule in WRC. Interesting theme.

Like difference of

This

audi_sport_quattro_1985_0000.jpg

And this

Audi-Quattro-road-and-rally-0.webp

In this theme, we need build two version of same car but both need huge difference like this Audi quattro example.
