I did like the coffee cup idea too, something to show off at work :)

Exactly. Prizes like those won't break the bank and they are fun to get....and to show off indeed.

We are almost done with the concept of the contest. It will be in line with some of the LEGO sets released lately (that's a hint).

We will go over the rules and create a discussion topic. Oh, and find some images without copyright for my promo image

Weird colors, probably ?

Edit: on a more serious note:

  • make a vehicle not done before in any Technic set.
  • make a motorized model with  1 motor and a 4-function switchbox
  • make a futuristic model
  • make a water- or air-based vehicle

Build a model in dark blue and dark azure... and it can’t be a vehicle.

According to the Chiron podcast, we have the Chiron to thank for the 42070 by the way, at least for the color anyways... the poor design and execution was somebody else fault.

I'm about to wrap up AMS-2, so that's almost done.

I'm sorry to see that AMS-2 is bringing a heated discussion. On the other hand; I am not sure why you didn't copy the voting rules we usually have. That would have made sense.

Anyway, seeing how this contest evolved, I'd like to stress out that it's better to let us handle the contests. We love initiatives and great ideas, but having staff members running the contest will make it more consistent with previous contests.

Any updates @Jim or @Milan ?

We do have an idea, but I like to pitch it here before publishing it. Because we have some doubts. How about...

"Build a theme park ride"

Motorization is allowed but not mandatory. No trucks or trailers for the ride, just the ride itself.

That’s a great idea Jim and I can think of a few ideas straight away I’d love to do

you could even make it Technic figure or minifig scale

This will still be a sort of non-vehicle contest, but (probably) more technical than the animal one.
