Topic bumping is generally considered to be inappropriate. It's also in the site guidelines.

When you comment on a 5 year old topic, the information is most likely outdated, the original creator might not be around anymore and the bumped topic will move up in the active recent topics. This can be confusing, because people might think it's a recent topic.

So you only bump a topic when you actually have some information to add to the topic.
