I'm not sure about the pictures( Are you using something like Flickr or brickshelf?).

You are allowed to post as many freebuilds as you want, although quality over quantity is important( so basically it's better to post one detailed MOC than 6 builds that are just figs on a plate)

Also, welcome to the great guild of Avalonia!!

No, i wasn't using Brickshelf or Flickr. Is that what i'm supposed to use? If so,

i can set up an account on Brickshelf.

Edit: Ok, so i've got a Brickshelf account, how do i

put my pictures from there, on these forums?

Jakorin, The Drow Challenge is not open, but you can still build for it as a freebuild if you'd like.

Windusky, just quote a post with a picture already included and you will be able to see the text/code you use, but it is typically

(img)website or picture address(/img) but replace () with []

"I, Alric, son of Balric of the house Drondil, lord of Dronkeep and count of Dron's Fields, pledge fealty to Avalonia, mightiest of the guilds of Historica. I pledge fealty to the DragonFlight and it's powerful leader, Astorious Rex. I pledge fealty to the rolling plains of the East and the mystic isles of the West. But above all, I pledge fealty to it's people: let one of it's citizen be harmed unpunished, and I shall claim land nor title anymore. So I swear, and let my oath be heared by Gods and men, so no one can deny it."

History: To understand the history of Lord Alric,, one has to understand the history of house Drondil, founded by his father. In the days when the Dragonflight's power over the country wasn't so powerful yet, the farmers and villagers of Dron's fields were terrified by a huge moster that killed their horses an ate their little children playing in the forest. The maior hired knight after knight to kill it, but none of them returned. He saw only one solution: to slay the beast himself. And so, during the first light of the morning, Alric and the beast fought, and the odds were even, till Alric saw he couldn't win without losing, and let a gap fall in his defence. The beast immediatly attacked and devoured his leg, but the maior, seaten on his horse, could now reach the beast's neck and struck his lance down. A few hours later, curious villagers found the badly injured maior next to the dead animal. They brought him as fast as possible with a litter to the village healer, but he could never totally heal of such an injury. The healer, seeing his destructed leg, decided to amputate it at the knee, and from then on Alric the maior walked with a wooden leg. Astorious Rex, hearing this from his sergeant, said: "When a man places the health of a village before his own, he deserves to lead", and awarded him with the title "Count of Dron's Fields". This was a great gift, as most of the horses used by the DragonFlight came from this county.

The maior ruled well, married a local noble and got one child: Alric. But when the War of the Elements raged, a mysterious person came to his court. His name was Gardarron, and nobody will ever know from where he came. He came as healer, and won the trust of Balric with the healing of a horse with an unknown sickness. But as time passed on, Balric trusted him more and more, becoming a slave to the drugs Gardarron provided, till Gardarron actually ruled the keep and the county. Only the Lady of the keep, supported by her son and the heir Alric, could counter his influence. But when Gardarron banished Alric to the isles, and Balric didn't do anything to stop it, his mother lost her only protection against the healer. So Alric, banished on one of the many isles of Avalonia, wasn't surprised when he recieved letter of the dead of his mother to an unknown sickness.

But now word reached Alric telling him of the death of his father, and he decided to go home, to defeat the intruder. Before he's home, a long journey waits, a journey on wich he will need his horseman and swordmen skills...

So, now I'm part of the team., and I know our (oh, that feels good) colours are dark and sandgreen, but as long as I don't have them, can I use normal green?

I've red a the wiki and beginners guide, but still have a few questions: (and don't mind my English)

  • I know we have a leader, Astorious Rex, but is he also someone's sigfig?
  • How's our political situation: with wich guilds are we at war with, and with who do we have an alliance?
  • Do I need to do task one first, and than task 2, than 3 and so on, are can I just pick one?
  • I'd like an area of my own,c an I just pick one? I had in mind that Dron's Feelds are West of the Trifork, but as long it's next to a river, it's OK for me. Could someone put it on the map, please?
  • How many members does our guild have?

And a last point: as I'm still at school, i've now examens and can't build till the end uf juin, but then it's just me and my bricks!!!

Greetings,

Lord Alric Drondil

Atrocious Rex was DC's sigfig, and he is no longer our current leader, although he is active from time to time. Our current leaders are de Gothia and Simon S. ( Although Simon is not active right now because he is serving time in the military) . RougeAngle is our guild leader or something like that and actually runs the guild( Im actually not positive on all of this).

We are not at war with any of the guilds, although some of our lords are involved in the different sides of the Kaliphlin civil war and I believe we are hostile towards the Black Spire, which rule a large portion of Nocturnus. We do not have any alliances between guilds, although individual lords of all the guild often have alliances with other lords in different guilds.

You should try to do most of the tasks but they are all optional.

If you want to claim territory use the current map and use a picture editor to draw your territory on it and post it here, eventuallly RA will add it to the main map.

also if you want to learn more about Avalonia I would recommend skimming through this topic. The first page especially contains a lot of information, although there has been a lot of new developments since then

Here signs Aeldric, Ranger of Avalonia, Warden of the Forests:

After having spent years throughout his childhood and into mid-adulthood serving the

small order of the Rangers of Vanhorn, and struggling to increase his ranks under

the weight of his strict and unforgiving master, Orvahn,

Aeldric now patrols the outskirts of Vanhorn, scouting for any signs of danger.

He leads his young apprentice, Voraal, in training as he patrols.

There's my sig!

Greetings,

Lord Alric Drondil

Ok, thanx.

Here is the link for the map:

Dron's Fields is in yellow, next to Trifork and the border with Kaliphilin.

Who's the lord of Trifork?

*A letter arrives by mounted courier*

Greetings, Lord Alric Dondril

It is our hope that this letter finds you well.

Word of plans for your long awaited return to Dron's Fields has reached the Trifork, and has been received with great delight. While the untimely death of your father has been lamented, it has also brought hope to the hearts of those who hope to see Garradon's influence stunted. Our informants suggest that most of your people are anticipating your return and will support your claim to power.

Should you wish, you are welcome to grace The Trifork with a visit. We are willing to discuss any assistance you may find useful in returning to your birthlands. However, know that my husband Beorthan, the Lord Mayor, has journeyed south with the main host of our forces to fight for the High Council in the Kaliphlin civil war, and I am currently ruling in his stead.

With respect,

Lady Mariana, acting Lord Mayor of The Trifork

*The letter is sealed with the official seal of the Trifork*

OOC: Welcome Alric, it is good to have you here! Especially since no one else seems to have wanted The Trifork for a neighbour yet!

I really like how you have interwoven your story with the lore of Historica - can't wait to see more!

I suggest you take a look at this recent postabout deeplinking pictures from Flickr, which will allow you to post pictures properly :classic: (I am also sure there are a number of tutorials somewhere...)

To your questions:

1) The colours are not a requirement, but use is encouraged.

2) As Lord Dan said, our current rulers are Lord Regents deGothia and Simon S.

3) We are not at war with any other guild, although a number of incidents with Mitgardian dwarves (Challenge III) have left the political situation somewhat unclear. However, each Lord and Lady maintain their own connections accros Historica.

4) I believe you can do any of the tasks in any sequence you wish.

5) I think the lands you picked are just fine.

6) We have a large number of members, but the activity level varies from person to person and period to period.

Here signs Aeldric, Ranger of Avalonia, Warden of the Forests:

I'm sorry, I forgot my own text.

A message arrives by pigeon:

" I bring you my greetings, Lady Mariana.

I really thank you for your assistance against Garradon's influence. Next morning, I will hire a boat and be on my way to Dron's Fields. When I am close to my purpose, i will sent you another letter. Greetings,

Lord Alric"

Thank you for the warm welcome and answers to my questions.

I just thought I'd stop by when I have time... and wow, I'm overwhelmed by the activity the last challenge brought in this forum . There are so many builds, it will take quite some time to check them all out. I even got time to build a little that weekend, saidly didn't finish a MOC but maybe you'll see one next month. Only 85 days left, then I'm free forever

I just finished my first freebuild. Where should I post it so I can get the points for our guild? I know there's a freebuild thread, but it's deadline is May the first.

Post it in the regular guilds of Historica forum as it's own topic. Later you will link it in the free builds thread once it's updated for the next quarter.

First of all, sorry that I haven't been around GoH lately. Narbilu stranded somewhere in the Dune Sea of Kaliphlin with a disturbing disease, (Basically, I'm busy in Andromeda's Gate - staff position)...

Still I expect him to return to Avalonia. Any idea if maybe a third book is going to be launched?

Didn't we have a Nocty already, or am I just lost in builds I made *huh*

You're correct, the first challenge in Book II was based in Nocturnus. The next challenge will be in Nocturnus again, however, as we've had challenges in all the other guilds since then.

Well I was under the impression that it was more like, Nocty gets an extra challenge just for fun. So the Nocty challenge isn't starting a new round, but finishing up this one (as though it had never had a challenge the whole book II).

The way things are going though, were going to need another Kaliphlin challenge, too. :look::laugh:

Sir Rikkard 'Full Plate' Darby hereby pledge loyalty to Avalonia.

18780588185_8fcb1cc454_z.jpg

Sir Rikkard is a war veteran and came into knighthood by way of merit rather than by birth. As a street child of Albion he was forcibly drafted into the army in his mid teens, and not much is known about his life before then. In the army he showed a keen aptitude for battle, and quickly gained a reputation for his skills, also earning himself the nickname 'Full Plate' as he always entered battle with a heavy armour that he allegedly forged himself. Besides skill with the blade, Rikkard also showed a good insight into warfare tactics, as displayed by him making many successful, critical decisions on the battlefield when out of contact with his commanders.

After serving in multiple campaigns and racing through the ranks Rikkard was knighted for his bravery and skill, and was subsequently given an estate just west of Albion. He is often consulted on wartime matters, and is also involved in training of new recruits from time to time.

Sir Rikkard is a man of few words, and has little interest in socialising and politics. He is loyal to those he trusts, but he does not hide his disdain for those he believe unsuitable for their office, and have more than once slighted those of high birth, leading to him gaining a number of enemies in the high society of Albion. Although he is undeniably capable, he has been attacked on the matter of his low birth by those opposed to him.

Being weary of socialising, Sir Rikkard have taken to remaining in his estate more often lately. However, he has just been informed that he is to be assigned to the remote startup colony of Newquay on the Overgrown Isle, just off the north-western coast of Avalonia, to provide security for the local Lord there.

The Overgrown Isle is a prime source of rare timber, allowing for these to be harvested without having to travel too deeply into the Mystic Isles. For years day trips have been made to the isle to procure the timber, but recently the decision was made to set up a colony on the isle to increase production and, of course, revenue. From what Sir Rikkard has heard, the colony has not been faring well, having lost many workers to the woods, feeding the notion of a great and dangerous power in the forest. Sir Rikkard is not one for superstition, but he has also seen far too many strange things over the years to rule anything out without a proper investigation.

Practically, his new charge would mean relocating for an extended period of time, and Sir Rikkard is not sure how he feels about this, mostly because of his two children, but in the end a charge must be obeyed and he knows he must go. He is not ignorant of this situation most likely being the work of one of his enemies in Albion, who would prefer to have him at a comfortable distance in the Isles, but is there anything he can and should do? Sir Rikkard has much to think about, not to mention preparations to make.

18594430299_e05b9056d1_c.jpg

The story begins shortly before Sir Rikkard starts his journey to the Overgrown Isle, whose location I have indicated in blue on the map. I hope this isle is still free to claim, as some old maps seem to refer to it as "Alara" or something similar, but it doesn't seem to be present in any of the newer maps. But if it is taken, do let me know :classic: And sorry about the bad font, didn't know what font is used for the map. Also, do inform me if I have inadvertently conflicted any pre-existing lore. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the GoH concept, but to begin with I think I will be doing some UoP freebuilds and Avalonia tasks, unless you have some better suggestions of what I should do :classic:

Happy to be aboard!
