The Prizes:

  • From the Core Rules:
    • Your faction will receive points based on two factors:
      • Points: The average number of points per builder.
      • Builders: Two points for each builder.

[*]These two totals are added to each other, and the faction with the higher total is the winner.

    [*]gallery_11254_206_2560.png

All the players on the winning team will receive this Han Solo in Carbonite tag to commemorate their victory. You can only have one of these tags or one of the Community Build tags at a time, but a log will be kept of all the tags you've earned in your profile in the Characters topic.

[*]The player who receives the most total individual points, regardless of team, is guaranteed a spot among the next set of the blog's Showcased MOCs. (This member must still be able to provide a picture big enough and of suitable quality to be used in the Showcased banner.)

[*]You will receive XP equal to the number of points you are awarded from the judges.

    [*]Other prizes to be determined.

The Rules:

  • All rules in the Core Rules topic apply.
  • The Empire's goal is to prevent the citizens of Cloud City from escaping, particularly the Baron Administrator and the Millennium Falcon. Imperial players should depict in their entry their character helping to fulfull that goal.
  • The Alliance's goal is to help evacuate Cloud City, particularly Princess Leia and the Millenium Falcon. Rebel players should depict in their entry their character helping to fulfull that goal.
  • Entries should be dioramas or vignettes measuring no larger than 64x64, with an overhang of no more than 5 studs.
  • Remember to make your entry appropriate to your rank and goal. From the Core Rules:
    • Your build will be scored in two stages, to make it easier on the judges by lessening the number of builds that must be scored in greater detail:
      • In the first stage, the judges will award a score from 1-10, with a '1' being "Minifig on a Plate", a '5' being "Your Average MOC" and a '10' being "Flawless Concept and Execution".
      • In the second stage, the top five builds of each faction (so ten in total) from the first stage will be scored based on basic predetermined criteria: up to 10 points for the concept and appropriateness to the objective, up to 25 points for your execution of the build, and up to 5 points for your presentation of the entry.
      • For builders who make it to the second stage, their second stage total is added to their first stage points, and that total is divided by two. You can earn a maximum of 25 points in each episode.

[*]The amount of points you earn is also the amount of XP your character earns.

[*]The Episode will run from 7 August to 21 September, 2013. As long as it's still September 21st somewhere in the world, you can still enter.

[*]Entries posted after the deadline will be disqualified from the episode and will not be eligible to receive XP. (And will not be eligible for free build XP, either, since Bespin is not a planet that players are currently allowed to set free builds on.)

[*]This episode/contest is open to all players of Shadows of Nar Eurbrikka, even if they joined EB or signed up for the game after the episode has begun, with the exception of the Star Wars staff, who are not eligible to win XP or prizes; the EB admins and moderators, who are not eligible to win prizes but may earn XP; and the episode host, who is not eligible to win prizes but may earn XP.

    [*]One entry per member.

[*]All entries must be new creations, not posted anywhere else prior to being entered in the episode. You may be asked by a staff member to change your entry if it is too similar to an earlier creation.

[*]All entries must be built from real LEGO. No clone brands, no third-party custom parts, no digital entries.

[*]You are allowed to use one customized/modified minifigure, your Shadows of Nar Eurbrikka sig-fig. Everything else must be purist.

[*]All entries must be posted as a new topic in the Watto's Junkyard subforum, the title prefixed by, "[soNE Ep. I]". (For example, "[soNE Ep. I] The Empire Strikes Back".)

[*]Post pictures no larger than 1000x720, as specified in the EB Member Guidelines.

[*]You may do a 'full-blown photo edit' with all the text, effects, background compositing, support erasing, and other effects on one picture. All your other pictures may have no editing other than color adjustment or background removal for a solid-color background. For obvious reasons, any photo editing that changes the shape, functionality, or color (not tint or adjustment, but actual color) of a LEGO piece is prohibited.

[*]All entries are considered WIPs (Works In Progress) until the deadline passes. Until the deadline has passed, you are allowed to change and improve your MOC.

Not gonna lie, but as a Rebel pilot, I have no idea what to do. Microscale freighter escort? Meh, I'll think about it.

Not sure what I was expecting, but it wasn't this. Going to need to rethink things now.

Doesn't need to be microscale. You get a 64x64 space; that's plenty of space to put a fighter in.

Oh, I decided to join the Empire. I'll post my fig tomorrow.

Just realised us scary ominous Imperials are under command of a Captain StrawberryIceCream... now there's a Spaceballs reference waiting to happen. Hope no one "jams" our radar...

Question: can we have digital editing for our entries, eg backgrounds, lighting/colour effects etc? And clarification: would something like a bed of cotton wool clouds be considered illegal under this "All entries must be built from real LEGO. No clone brands, no third-party custom parts, no digital entries." (I understand that the entries are judged by their Lego content of course) or do we need to make the entire setting out of Lego too?

P.S. spelling correction: fulfull fulfil

There are plenty of options - you can be loading civilians into your fighter (if they'll fit, bet you had a B-Wing right now  ), you can be in a dogfight with TIEs over Bespin, you can be providing cover fire for a freighter loading civilians, you could be stuck in a firefight inside cloud city as you lead civilians out... plenty of options!

Ah, yes, I forgot about that rule: You may do the full digital background compositing, effects, text, erasing supports, etc. for one picture. All the other pictures, you may only perform color adjustment and replace the backdrop with a solid color. In both cases, for obvious reasons, any photo editing that changes the shape, functionality, or color (not tint or adjustment, but color) of LEGO is prohibited.

So, adding something like cotton balls would be fine for your one 'full-blown effects' shot, but not in your other pictures.

So Cloud City is the place to be...

Awesome, I can perfectly build my story around this location :classic: .

Does cloud city get blown up or such?

No... :look: That would be a blatant deviation from the canon storyline. The objectives of the factions only concern the individuals fleeing from the city, not the destruction or preservation of the city itself.

I'd say it's fine to cause some collateral damage to the city,

The rebels may be the good guys but I can assure you that the Empire won't hold back in order to defeat them

Can the episode be told in story form? As in alternating shots of my fig in his cockpit in minifig scale, then the battle in microscale, and back and forth as such?

Only if you put all the scenes into the one diorama. (As a series of vignettes on the same big base, no larger than 64x64.) Otherwise, no, you may only enter one MOC, a vignette or diorama no larger than 64x64; you may not enter a series of MOCs.

There is a lot that can be built, I am thinking on halls, corridors, bridges, landing platforms, Lobot, Bespin guards, clouds, whites, greys, lights, spires, a fighter could fit right in while landing, bombing, destroying turrets, etc... this is going to be good.

There are loads of environments in Cloud City, the possibilities are (almost) endless:

Landing platform (Falcon, Slave 1 or Cloud Cars),

Main corridors (mainly white, but also dark red), Dining hall,

Duelling corridor & platform

Central core

Exterior top (background scenes of city),Exterior lower part (with the aerials!)

Carbonite chamber

Connecting ducts

Torture room

Prison cell

Junkyard/waste recycling

You could also use all of the utilities (pipes, ducts, mining machinery..... it's a mining facility after all!!)

And to all of my fellow Imperials we must win this Episode at all costs; I've got to have one of those Han in Carbonite tags    Crush the rebellion!

Are we also allowed to use one of the other floating platforms around Cloud City, e.g. the one in TFU I?

The battle rages across all the planet, that includes the mining platforms, the endless clouds and the orbit (correct me if I am wrong).

Nom is correct; you may use all the locations on and over Bespin.

And I know I'm going to regret saying this because it's from one of those terrible kiddie books, but that includes the mining platforms on the actual surface of the planet, too.

from wiki:

"Star Wars 56: Coffin in the Clouds indicates that Bespin is the home planet of the Ugnaughts, and shows the planet as having a habitable surface — a phenomenon that is impossible on a gas giant. This error is corrected in theDatabank, which states that Ugnaughts inhabited secret floating platforms below Cloud City. The "surface", which Lando Calrissian plummeted to in the comic, was later established as Ugnaught Surface in Bespin: Action Tidings."

Dam!!! I was going to stick to the rescue part, just thought it would be very cool.

There goes that idea....

Or maybe not.... :cry_happy:
