The Simpsons 2014 Rumors & Discussion

Recommended Posts

Seeing everything up close makes this look even better. $200 like I thought. Too bad, for another $50 we could have gotten that loft.

I'm happy to see we now have a piece to represent a Toddler's body. Now all we need is a proper baby body and teen height and we'll have all the ages of minifigure development covered.

The LEGO Group Announces Partnership With Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products To Launch LEGO® And THE SIMPSONS Branded Merchandise

Construction Set and Minifigure Series Based on the Popular Show Available Beginning February 2014

Products To Coincide With LEGO-Themed Simpsons Episode, Airing May 2014 on FOX

BILLUND, Denmark, Jan. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — The LEGO Group today announced a new partnership with Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products to produce a construction set and licensed LEGO® minifigures inspired by the iconic television series, THE SIMPSONS. In addition, FOX is scheduled to air a special LEGO episode of THE SIMPSONS in May 2014 featuring Springfield and its cast of characters in LEGO form.

Scheduled to launch this February in LEGO stores and via the LEGO Shop at Home catalog and website, the construction set will recreate the iconic Simpsons family house in LEGO form. Also included in the LEGO and THE SIMPSONS construction set is the entire family: Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie along with neighbor Ned Flanders. A separate line of 16 LEGO THE SIMPSONS minifigures will launch in all mass toy retailers in May 2014.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with Fox during the 25th anniversary year of the Simpsons,” said Jill Wilfert, vice president licensing & entertainment at The LEGO Group. “We know our fans will love the challenge of building the Simpsons’ family home in great detail and the ability to collect quintessential characters in LEGO minifigure form will let them showcase their love of the show in a whole new way. We are also excited that THE SIMPSONS will be created in LEGO form, truly bringing this partnership to life.”

“We are kicking off the 25th anniversary of THE SIMPSONS in a big way, and we think LEGO-loving fans of the show will be impressed with this collaboration that represents the best of both iconic worlds through the LEGO and THE SIMPSONS construction set, minifigures and LEGO-themed episode,” said Jeffrey Godsick, president of Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products. “Our partnership with LEGO is the perfect addition to the range of product lines that will be introduced globally in celebration of this great milestone achievement in television history.”

$3.99? Ouch! I guess they have to make up the cost of all the new head molds somehow. Guess I'm going to have to be more picky about which characters I pick up, instead of just trying to get them all. :sceptic: Hope that price doesn't continue when/if the regular CMF line continues afterwards.

$3.99 is okay... I guess. Licensing fees, maybe more new molds than usual, molds that are multicolor. I guess I understand it. I won't be risking randomness though and will do whatever it takes to ensure what I get.

I totally agree. Pushing the price up is most likely down to the licence fee and new molds. Every figure has at least one new mold ( the head ) two or three depending on the accessories.

Uhmm... uh..... nothing more than these? :look: (at least in the first half of 2014 for now).

One thing I'm worried about is the characters included in CMF, excluding the Simpsons (whom I don't expect to see), the confirmed ones such as Apu and Moe both run stores that fit in physical Lego products. However, would it mean that TLC don't plan to make any other set so they just leave other characters to be CMF? I hope they won't kicking off the 25th anniversary of THE SIMPSONS in a "little" way.

And speaking of the topics, there are both the Simpson House and the CMF threads in Eurobricks. But if there are no other products in rumors for now, this thread would be useless in later discussion, wouldn't it?

Youll notice the simpsons family included in the house are mostly SPECIAL OUTFITS, I assume the CMF line will include the "vanilla" simpsons family (no aprons, ties, lazy eyes etc.)

Thats proapbly wehre you'll see Lisa with her Saxophone aswell!

If the currently planned simpsons lego products sells well, lego is prepared to release more sets and or another series of cmf's

Agreed. I think LEGO is really testing the market with a CMF line to see if a production of sets would be popular.

This truly would be a dream come true! I want to hope Lego must have something up their sleeves, and this would be the best Simpsons set possible for train fans.

I really hope that with the price jump it means that the Simpsons CMFs (the bodies at least, I'm sure the heads are made in China) can be made to usual minifigure quality, not the cheaper and crappier looking Chinese made regular CMFs.

I can't stand the washed out yellow hands on CMFs, and the general crummy feeling they have. I want my Springfield townspeople to match!

I'm perplexed as to the why TLC is going so big on this one. The Simpsons is a pretty old show and some would argue past it's prime. But to give it a $199 set and $3.99 CMF line is a risky play. The Simpsons have nothing coming out that would warrant such attention - no movie or anything like that. I also don’t know why both items won’t launch at the same time.

Don't get me wrong, I really like the idea, I'm just surprised at the execution. Maybe a couple smaller of smaller sets and no CMF line would have been a safer bet. As it is, I do understand the price point of the CMF line given that it should help offset the cost of the new molds both in the CMF line and the larger Simpson house.

What a surprise, this official unveiling! It truly looks much better now and it's growing on me. Still, the price is too steep. Will have a hard thinking about this one. Now bring us CMF series!

Even though the Simpson's House box says it's for ages 12+, I think the current majority viewers of Simpsons is at least 18. So the Simpson's line may not be aimed toward the usual LEGO demographic of kids but rather the AFOL, who are more likely to spend more to collect these. I certainly don't consider it a kids show and would limit it to at least teenagers, but I'm not sure if teenagers now would be interested.

Oh, haven't realized that! :look: I hope you are right, I want proper ABS figs. The crappy material totally ruins the experience of CMFs, which is in other way good. I can't understand why they make all these great new accesories and whole figures from crappy plastic.

The show's 25th anniversary is this year - the network has a pretty big promotional push behind it.

Well it is the 25th anniversary of the show which is a pretty big deal, plus isn't simpsons the oldest is TV show or something?

The same arguments can be made for both Star Wars and Indiana Jones. After episode 3 Star Wars didn't have much of a coming out for a while, however LEGO still made sets for 7 years until episode 7 was announced.

The Simpsons is nowhere near the oldest show Doctor Who has been on air for the better part of 50 years, and Coronation Street for the whole 50.

It is, however, the oldest cartoon.
