Hi I'll like to join as a imperial pilot. But I need a little more info on rising through the ranks and how to participate in the contest. Hopefully I'll have time around late August to enter!

From the rules:

What you build your character doing and what your character looks like should reflect your rank. For example, a TIE Pilot could be a technician aboard a Star Destroyer or pilot a TIE/ln escorting it, but shouldn't be an officer on the Star Destroyer. A Stormtrooper could work with Storm Commandos, but shouldn't be portrayed as one of them. A Rebel Trooper could be shown attempting to defend a starship from being boarded, but shouldn't be able to hold his own against Darth Vader on the Tantive IV. This is not something that can be enforced in a specific set of rules; it's something that will be taken into account in scoring. Builders of the final four ranks (50 XP and up) can build their characters however they want doing pretty much whatever they want, with the exception of a managerial role, which is reserved for those of the final two ranks (100 XP and up).
The possible ranks (and their required XP amounts) are:

Empire - Stormtrooper/Tie Pilot (0 XP) > Imperial Survey Corps (10 XP) > Imperial Security Bureau (25 XP) > Storm Commandos/Shadowtroopers/Dark Troopers (50 XP) > Imperial Department of Military Research (100 XP)

Basically there are Episodes that are like challenges where you have specific goals and a deadline. Between each Episode you may build up to 4 freebuilds that are scored. As you gain in score your rank increases and it opens up more storytelling chances. Once an Episode is posted you figure out what you want to build and make sure to post it before the deadline.

Oops, I apologize, I forgot to make that image 100x100. Thanks for changing it anyways!

I've got some great updates to announce for you all! First, the Player Index has been updated with the most recent scores. Second, I've updated the Map! I'm still looking for some improved write ups on the newer planets, so if anyone wants to volunteer feel free to post in the Map thread.

Just saw this, great stuff, Josh! It's cool to see that we are using the swgalaxymap for this, it's a very complete project as far as I see. Maybe I can add to another planet bios sooner or later, we'll see!

Probably sometime around SHIPSeptember, so get your bricks organized and be ready to put in a hard month's work; I heard reports about a fleet massing near Sullust

The next contest is coming sooner rather than later, just need to work out some more rules. Start planning some ships and SHIPs for the Battle over Endor. We don't want to leave anybody unprepared for a big build, but we don't want to rush into posting stuff either.

Any updates on judging the freebuilds that have been posted since the last challenge? I know Cody had 1 and I have 2 (soon to be 3 once I take photos of my latest build).

Will start planning out a ship too.

Sorry guys. For whatever reason that can be a really hard task to stay on top of. If it's any consolation, almost half of the un-judged builds were done by judges themselves.

I've organized them for judging and hopefully we can get them out soon.

On a related note, I had some trouble identifying the planets the builds were suppose to be on, so hopefully I got their score scales correct. In the future, please add a tag with the planet name so we don't have to search for it or guess.

Wow, almost too soon for my liking. I'm still pretty much in a kind of summer hole, Lego-wise... to be frank, I cleaned the Legos up and put them away when I had guests over in mid-June, and I didn't bother to dig them up again since, lol. But an episode isn't a must, so I think it would be fair game to sit one challenge out or build small rather than big for once. For some reason, after that Black Sun spectacle last time, I was kind of expecting something more low-key, story-wise, for the next episode before the big Endor finale. But as long as the ending of Jedi is not meant to be the ending of SoNE as well, I'm fine.

Not to put anyone under pressure, but I kind of expect the SoNE narrative to continue into the future and tie in with the post-Endor events of Battlefront II that will release later this year.

I know we have OT for Original Trilogy and PT for Prequel Trilogy, what is the new acronym for the current trilogy? ST for Sequel Trilogy?

I guess I would expect SoNE to file into the Kylo Ren era, but who knows.

Yeah, I think ST for the sequels is kinda universal by now.

The Kylo Ren era is certainly a possibility, but a time jump like that would pretty much require everyone to set up new characters and stuff, I presume.

Wish I could tell you what we've planned but you'll just have to wait for now. I'll check with the others about what kind of hints we can start dropping.

A very general question that just occured to me today: is it actually okay for an entry (freebuild and/or episode) to use both physical bricks and LDD? Like, have one part built with actual bricks and another part, like a ship that's meant to be in the background or something, be digital? Note that I am not talking about combining physical and digital builds into an illusion of one bigger, connected build via complex compositing or something like that, but clearly separated builds. Like show a starship in space from the outside with a digital build, and the next picture takes you inside the ship and features a physically built bridge.

Would that work or would that be a problem in judgement?
