The LEGO Movie Sets News and Discussion

Recommended Posts

What's wrong with Bad Cop has a gun in the set? I know LEGO group never produce any police officers and crooks that has weapons. Anyways is LEGO Movie is a licensed or not? Because only Vitruvius is the only character that is not in yellow skin.

It's probably best to think of the Lego Movie as a weird case where it is a licensed IP, but Lego is the primary License owner. It is a Lego owned media property. So normal rules probably do not apply.

I'm thinking of it like Ninjago and Chima, they have a TV show and films but it's still an original Lego theme (in my opinion).

Remember Lego did put real Lego in Happy Meal's, not plastic fakes, in 1999. It was a series of sets, here's a link to one of them: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=2719-1 Brickset say's they where only available in Germany, however, I've got most of these "sets" through people who got them in the UK. I hope we get polybags, but nowadays knowing Mac Donald's it will be cheap, cruddy, gimmicky, nonsense rubbish they usually put in them.

In the United States, they also had the Basic McDonald's character plane promos around the same time that were made out of real bricks. I loved getting those! :sweet:

I tried to purchase one of the sets at Target, but they couldn't sell it because they didn't want to break the street date. However, the TRU nearby had the sets and I was able to purchase the Melting Room and Cloud Cuckoo Palace, along with four minifigs.

Brick Queen has a review of the Metalbeard Duel. Not sure if I like it or not. Probably will love after the movie though albeit the 40 euro price.

I think McDonalds has different rules these days about what is acceptable for a Happy Meal and wouldn't accept actual bricks anymore.

Hmmmm..... :hmpf_bad: Once if I come back at my local TRU again in the next and I show the item number to them, they will say "I will not release them until Jan 1". Why she said that to me??

Now I did not bought any LEGO Movie sets or minifigs since Christmas. :cry_sad:

Is that Toys R US new policy??

So glad I found two boxes of the Minifigures Series at a distant Toys"R"Us. Unfortunately, they didn't have Taco Tuesday Guy and Abe Lincoln in either of the heavily picked-through boxes. Still left with the other fourteen figures and a display box, though. :classic:

For the sets, I hit up two Targets today, and both had them. If you're still not banned from Target, I'm sure they'll be there.

It's called a street date release... They're not supposed to have them out yet.

What would happen if someone force them to release it now without following the street date release?

Looking at some pictures, I saw the Fabuland Girl had braces. Is this the first minifigure to have braces? I don't remember seeing one with some before. Cool!

Hey guys! So I think I've found a picture of the Classic Space-style set that Benny will come in.

ll-929sml.png

I found it in a Lego Movie book at Barnes and Nobles; it was on a page dedicated to Benny's character. The main thing that makes me think that this is the set we'll be getting is that both of those windshields (13252 and 6070) were found in Lego's parts database a while back in trans-yellow, as reported here. In addition, it has the look of an official Lego set too- and one that definitely hits a $100-or-more price point!

Anyway, judging from this picture, it looks like the main features of this set are:

  • The front half of the ship can detach from the rest (notice where it says 'latch' and has arrows pointing forward in several areas, as well as the gap between wings in the back)
  • Two of the new 1x4 block firing missiles (as seen in the 2014 Star Wars sets, i.e. 75037)
  • Two detachable smaller spaceships on the left and right wings
  • A flip-up radar dish on the back
  • And of course, lots of Classic Space pieces from the 80's! An incomplete list: 3963, 4229, 4735, 4595, 4588, 4598, etc.

The whole thing seems to take inspiration from 6931 FX Star Patroller and 6980 Galaxy Commander, with the more classic colorscheme of 928 Galaxy Explorer. I've liked pretty much all of the Lego Movie sets yet seen, but if released the LL-929 will be my favorite of them all by far!

Nice find, I think that might be the one 1974 hinted at. It matched his description of a large CS cruiser, it has the S@H parts and looks like a great set. There is no way LEGO would have made something like that just for a book. The design, parts usage and everything point to it being a upcoming set.

Life's dream come true.

Excellent find! This is sure to be a set in Summer 2014. It's odd to see new pieces (like the 2x4 tiles) on a Classic Space model, but it looks very good. :sweet:

That is awesome. I'd say that will be one of the best sellers of 2014 if that is indeed the set. I'm not even into classic space, but I know I will pick one up!

Thanks for the find.
