Yeah, I'm with @nikhkin in that it's unlikely we'd see a modular casino. I think it would be a really great MOC, but as someone who knows someone who lost themselves in a Casino and racked up 5 figures of debt in one evening following being dumped by his girlfriend, I agree that Lego shouldn't promote a casino to children, regardless of the age range stated on the box.

16 isn't old enough for someone to gamble... and whilst playing with toys that centre around gambling isn't illegal, I don't think it's very Lego. E.g. Deadpool never being reproduced as a mini figure once they were aware of his antics etc. 

At least we're all excited for the new modular though!

The only police stations I like are the classic ones since they fit into the theme the most. But let's save that conversation for another time. 

Back to the topic of modulars. I've had a change of heart actually. I did say earlier that Lego has enough police stations already. But I guess adult police set lovers deserve a chance to see a police station for modulars. But since I am really into buses, my dream modular is a modular bus terminal with a 60s style bus. Like a small version of the Port Authority in New York City.

Same in Norway. I live in the 2nd biggest city, Bergen, approx 280.000 people, and I can`t think of ANY post offices left. We have "post in (food)stores". More efficient for both the postal service and us costumers. I don`t complain at all.

The mailman/lady still delivers the daily mail in the mailbox outside the house(s)

They also accept mail for posting, although generally try to find some reason to reject it

I do agree on that. Nonetheless, architecturally-speaking LV is also kind of a bizarre choice for the Architecture line. They probably chose it because in the first years they had always one US skyline.

I suppose, but I found that fascinating.  Most small towns (and I mean small) around me still have their post offices.  Some small towns don't have a mailman to deliver (I know the town west of me is this way), everyone goes to the post office during the day to pick up their mail. 

Interesting to learn things from different places while we sit here waiting for Lego to announce the next modular.

In my home state of Massachusetts there is an island / town called Nantucket. There are three completely different post offices there. One is big modern Cape Cod looking thing no one likes. The other two are exactly what a LEGO modular would look like. The downtown one is up a huge flight of stairs and goes into something you would see on Miracle on 34th Street. It be perfect for the center of a modular. Seems the other one closed which is a shame because it dated back to probably 1830 and looked it. Would be about 15x20 studs if it was made in LEGO. 

I asked once why there were three post offices on a town of a year round population of 8,000 (Now 11,000), no mail carriers you need to go to the offices to get a P.O. box.

Now I'm going to be disappointed if there isn't a post office.

All this chatter about post offices. police stations, book store and coffee shops got me thinking.  Why not something fresh that looks like a real purpose-built building on a large scale.  Maybe an Aquarium with a multi-story central tank. a gift shop at street level and a rainforest greenhouse on the roof.  It might make a nice change of pace.

PS: The city I live in has three post offices, three UPS stores, a FedEx store and a DHL drop-off center.  There's always a line at the post office window and the daily post mostly consists of bills and unwanted catalogs.

Wouldn't an aquarium like you describe need more than a single baseplate?

More than that, didn't they say they wanted to stick to some more ancient (50-60s style) buildings? Not sure how an aquarium would fit into this.

Again, we've had the FB, I say a police station is a likely candidate. Also they made that contest for a vehicle for the next modular recently no?

Either way I don't really care what it'll be, I like modulars so I'm pretty sure I'll be happy with whatever it is.

It would be cramped, I'll grant you, but I think you could do a reasonable approximation in a building comparable to the Town Hall.  You'd need a very vertical layout (like the Baltimore or New England Aquarium designs) but if they can release a movie theater in a corner building, I think they could convey the gist of an aquarium in a tight space.

At least in the US, urban aquariums were first pioneered by P.T. Barnum in the mid-1800's.  Some of the early ones embraced Classical, Georgian, Federal, Second Empire, Italianate and Neo-Classical styles.  Twentieth century entries embraced Art Deco as well as various Modernist and Post-Modernist movements, so really, you've got a lot of wiggle room for picking a style even if you want to nominally say we're stuck in 1962 (or whatever).

Either way I don't really care what it'll be, I like modulars so I'm pretty sure I'll be happy with whatever it is.

I'm with you here.  I like to build 'em, my daughter likes to play with them.  Neither of us really feels that vested in the subject matter so long as it's fun.

Not to get toooo deep into speculative territory, but it's starting to seem very likely that the new bulldog might appear in the next modular. Leaked pictures have revealed two different colors, one of which is now confirmed to be in a City set, and so many 2020 sets have been revealed by now that there don't seem to be many other options left for where the other one could show up. And yeah, the potential inclusion of a particular animal probably doesn't have that much bearing on the set as a whole, but it being an English bulldog drives my apophenic brain to think the building could have a distinctly English flair.

Hopefully the next modular doesn't use colors I hate (e.g. the dark orange used on the Corner Garage or the Olive Green used on the Parisian Restaurant)...

Has anyone else seen the info on "wikipedia" about the next modular being a police station?. They have it listed and layed out as though someone has seen it. The number is wrong, but a great description with a donut shop.

Is Assembly Square retiring?  I was wondering if LEGO would only want one expensive set/large on the shelves at a time... 

i would assume it would have a police car though not mentioned
