eurotrash Posted July 6, 2013 My town is definitely going down-hill. I've got Bars and Pubs and a Brewery and they're all a bit seedy and run-down. So when I decided to build something with a car-theme I knew it wasn't going to be an antiseptic showroom stuffed full of expensive cars. What my town needed was a Repair Shop where for a cheap price the unqualified mechanics will do their best to get you back on the road. It's based very loosely on a real building here in Missouri that burnt down in mysterious circumstances a couple of years ago. Who knows maybe with this MOC I've solved the mystery. There's a tumble-down old fence and a junk yard dog. The facade of the main building is crumbling and there's discolored brickwork all over the place. Inside there's a finger operated car lift, a red-swing door (courtesy of the Apple Tree House), and shelves full of cans and tools. If I had an expensive, Italian looking sports car I wouldn't be taking it here. The adjacent lot is full of spare parts scattered across the broken concrete, some wheel hubs, some fenders and a Snap-on tool box. But it does have an interior complete with Coffee Machine, Toilet and Sink - it's a bit grubby in there... The mechanics appear to be swapping out a perfectly good Blue door for a junky Yellow one - and I'm concerned about the number of spare parts they've got left.... Here's a shot from the side, but I think they should be paying more attention to the rear of the building... ...where someone has carelessly discarded a cigarette into a trash-can full of oily rags. Here's the rear swing door and the Car lift/Hoist is four vertical slotted 1 x 2 x 5 with groove that holds the Modified 2 x 2 with Wheel Holder snuggly. Now a suggestion on the minifig.....it might look better if you have the torso and legs from the Fonzie looklike collecable minifig motor mechanic from last year and with a cap on would look real old school gas station mechanic for sure. My favourtie bits are the lot with all the bits and pieces strewn all over the place, and the fence, it gives the whole thing that perfect run down look you're going for! Only Sinner Posted July 7, 2013 Funny, I've worked at places like this before. The Snap-on tool box is almost too nice to be left outside. The oily rag bin definately belongs out there, though! The vehicle you see on the hoist fits through the swing door and up onto the ramp, but it does have to leap over the (2432) Tile, Modified 1 x 2 with Handle at the ends of the Hoist. In real life I think the turning radius of the vehicle would prevent it from making the turn from the door-way to the hoist, but this MOC uses Lego Physics and normal rules don't apply! Have you thought about making ramps at the front of the hoist instead of the tiles with handles, might not be as much fun as leapfrogging over the handles though.
