Here my top 3 of excellent deals:

1. mobile crane 8053 + PF set 8293: Together for just 60€ incl. shipping and original instructions and boxes in very good condition.

This is not used as main model because 8421 and 8431 are way better cranes but i like the 8053 for these reasons:

- good variety of useful parts for MOCs

- The B-model Harbour crane: "...This crane is mammoth, and it looks spectacular, one of the best b-models I have ever seen Technic come out with..."

2. Unimog 8110 in quite mint condition for 105€ incl. shipping, original instructions and box in mint condition

3. Excavator 8043 for 97€ in quite mint condition (incl. instructions and box)

Got a 8421 off E bay for around 220, kicker was in the pics I could see other parts. A set of Power puller tires, and a lot of other stuff that was'nt part of it. I got it and found there were about 3 other sets in the lot. I later sold the Power puller tires for 25 bucks, big mistake, LOL.

Bought a used(but complete) 8450 The Mission set off of a new user on Ebay for .99 cents.. Guess no one else was comfortable buying from a new user... I was very happy to leave him his first feedback when I received the set...

Today I learned that I pay my sets (generally on amazon.fr) way too much even though I thought I was getting amazing prices :cry_sad:

I shouldn't read this topic.... It makes me frustrated I never come across a great deal

But my personal best deal was a complete (but no MISB) non-yellowed 8880 Super Car for €50 :classic:

Last year I also bought a 8455 Pneumatic Back-Hoe MISB in great condition for €140, which sounds much but isn't very much at all for it's condition, although it can't reach the bargain status of others in this topic  .

Good Afternoon

I posted this in a previous topic but as this topic asks 'the question' I thought it worth adding here.

Rarely now do I buy sets from eBay as I find the prices ridiculously high most of the time. I buy the occasional part/s but that's about it. I now use classified ads in local papers, car boot sales etc., to buy my sets at much, much lower prices than eBay.

In the last month or so I've bought:

8461 Williams F1 - boxed & complete - £38

8461 Williams F1 - boxed & complete - £25

8258 Crane Truck - boxed & complete - £55

8265 Front End Loader - boxed & complete - £30

8295 Tele-handler - boxed & complete - £25

5218 Pneumatic Pack, 8462 Pneumatic Tow Truck, 8244 Convertibles & 8456 Fibre Optic Multi Set - no boxes but all complete - £25

5218 Pneumatic Pack - boxed but incomplete - £3

8262 Quad Bike - boxed & complete - £5

8274 Combine Harvester & 8416 Forklift - both boxed & complete - £35

9396 Helicopter - boxed & complete - £34

8448 Super Street Sensation - no box but complete - £35

8109 Flatbed Truck boxed & complete - boxed & complete - £18

8053 Mobile Crane - boxed & complete - £26

8262 Cherry Picker - boxed & complete - £12

8674 Ferrari F1 - no box & complete - £35 (In an envelope inside the instructions was an original unused sheet of stickers)

8068 Rescue Helicopter - boxed & complete - £8

8888 Air Claw Rig - no box & complete - £16.45

8421 Crane - boxed & complete - £37.85

Everything that should work I've had tested and is in perfect condition. Amazingly bearing in mind the age of some of these sets and the well documented problems associated with Legos' whites, in all the sets with whites all but 12 pieces are perfect with no discolouration.

As you can see I've had some absolute bargains & they've not been too hard to find. I guess I have more time than most but as you can see, other than building, I put that time to very good use.

Years ago when the 8880 supercar was going out of production I got I think five of them for about $US100 each via Fredrick Glockner in Norway. Some big toy shop there had a stack of them very cheap. I was very happy, they sold for over $US200 in NZ when we could find them. Mind you, I got a couple of the same-era space shuttle for ~$US100 each in a department store sale - I don't think they knew what to do with them.

I had sold all my Lego when I saw the 8285 in Kmart for $180 NZ, RRP $249 and bought two, then a week later they still had them when they had a buy now get 50% off another sale so bought 4 more, which worked out to be almost half RRP each. Maybe I shouldnt have started back into Lego though as it has cost me $1000s since. I could say that buying the pneumatic cylinder brackets at $2.99 each was a bargain too when you see how much they are worth now, I am glad I have 70+ but could always use more.

I was able to grab a Lego Racers RC Buggy on eBay for less than 19€ + shipping. Although a few parts are missing, the motors and the remote are working perfectly.

Also I got a 8466 for about 80€ and a 8455 for 55€.

Yeah, picked it up at a local flea market. They had the box taped up so I asked them if I could open it to check if it was complete...I saw all four tires and wheels and that was good enough for me. I worked them down from 75 to 50 even though I was probably shaking and sweating like crazy.....one of my proudest moments...lol
