Hello Eurobricks community,

First of all I would like to introduce myself :

My name is Benjamin and I live in Germany near cologne.

I like building with Lego especially with Lego Technic. I am not focused on something special I rather build what I have seen recently.

I have an account at Eurobricks for about 3 years but I only used it once..So now its for making my own Thread ;)

First I would like to start with my crawler crane which I build back in 2011

I would be appreciate to hear some thoughts about it..

Only your tracks looks it's little bit to weak whit that plates

Your tracks looks like it's a little bit to weak with the long plates.

I agree, you might have been better with two sets of tracks and then span both of those with plates.

It used to many parts to leave it together ;)

Year I experimented with some different track designs but the normal ones did not suite the massive size

I think I have a video on youtube showing the crane driving so feel free to check it out

In my opinion the best solution would be to build the tracks without the "normal" Lego tracks but that would require a huge part source an followed by that a lot monye wich i was not willing to spend at that point ;)

@D3K Yes some projects are already a few months old but the SPMT transporter is still in one part and ready for additional upgrades ;)

It would take me to long to describe the technics of these transporters but i will leave a link from the manufacturer site. Basicly they use the same technic as the ETFs but the trick is that you can coupple these modules to suit your needs They can handle some extreme loads as you will see on their site ...: http://www.scheuerle...CFQdc3godY0oAOg

Hi I am back again

This time I would like to show you my latest project. At the moment I am building a Land rover Diskovery 4

I would like to have the following functions when it is finished:

Remote controlled functions:

-drive (2 XL-motors)

-steering (1 L-motor)

-4 speed sequential gearbox (1 servo-motor)

-clutch (1 m-motor)

-Air suspension (auto valve 1 m-motor)

-differential lock front using pneumatic controlled by auto valve (1 m-motor)

-differential lock rear using pneumatic controlled by auto valve (1 m-motor)

-differential lock middle using pneumatic controlled by auto valve (1 m-motor)

-2 wd or 4 wd selector (1 m-motor)

-compressor (1 RC-motor)

Manual functions:

-adjustable seats

-opening doors

-lights

Hello Benjamin,

I was interested to see your trucks, this is my special interest.

My goal is ultra realism, or as close as I can get, so I noticed something that will take seconds to alter....

Twin wheels have a gap in between, I see you joined your wheels with 3l connector pegs, you get the correct gap with the wheels at each end of the pegs rather than pushed tight together.

The front of your Land Rover looks very realistic. And I see your model will be rather big. Keep on going!

Why don you build frame and chassis first?

Today I finished the frame and made a little test drive...I melted the clutch and found out that I have to simplify the drive train to make it more efficient :)

I also thought about switching to 2RC motors for drive.

Can you explain me how does work the gearbox? I don't understand how you can have four different speeds using only one servo-motor ( with three 'stop' positions).

The servo is just for testing and as you already noticed it can only shift 3 gears

When I'm finished I will use a different mechanism :)

I made more progress but it is harder then I thought ;) I hade to redesign the whole suspension setup because the turntables I used had just to much friction :( I used this chance to switch to a McPherson type suspension like in the real Landrover. I will also add better mounting points to make the chassis stiffer

A friend of mine recently bught one therefore I had the possibility to take a look under the real car :
