MOC: Captain Jimmy

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody! I'm here to show my latest pirate-MOC:

Captain Jimmy

I built this for a contest over at Forbiddencove.com: in this socalled 'Pirates Part Plunder' we get two weeks to build a MOC using a seedpart. This round, the seedpart was the minifig crowbar. I immediately got the idea of building a beard with the crowbars, but since I hadn't done any sculpting before, I was afraid it might be very difficult. It was actually a lot more fun than I thought.

The name Jimmy is a wink to the crowbar, ofcourse.

Very nice! You used some interesting pieces in there. What are those pieces for his beard?

@Brickington: it's the minifig crowbar that is mentioned three times in the openingpost ;)

Nicely done, great use of the crowbar, I only have one of those but I never would have thought of using them like this  .

Good luck in the contest.

Nice! . Good luck with the Seedpart challenge.

This is a real "desk-topper", right? :classic:

He reminds me of this painting of Van Gogh, by Van Gogh,

I especially like the way you did the collar!

Thanks for your compliments, I appreciate it a lot.

Wow! Great work, this seems like a weird thing to build.

It really was! Especially building the eyes was a strange experience: when I tried an expression, I took a step back to see if it looked good. That took a while.

Thanks! I can see what you mean, the red hairs of the beard look a lot like the technique Van Gogh used. That's funny actually, how a building style and painting technique look the same.

Love the "crowbar beard" that he's got there. I like the hat design too.
