Keeping Lego City Safe

Recommended Posts

The tides are changing and life can be a little dangerous in town. How do you keep your town safe?

A few years ago I put duct tap on the streen cleaner roller to make it look like spikes, then I attached the roller to a police car.

Countless millions of policemen and firemen who outnumber civilians ten to one. There's a police station or fire station on every corner.

I have Batman on the scene. Problem solved.

Yep, roughly 1 police officer per 12 civi's and 1 firefighter for every 35... 1 Batman and 1 Spiderman watching everyone. Good team of Res-Q and paramedics as well. Compared to my actual home town, of around 50,000, has 1 cop per 278. I'd say my minifigs are safe, unless I go crazy :classic:

I haven't started on it in brick, aside from a few cops (and that's because every other CITY minifig is a friggin cop nowadays), though I do plan to branch out from the sane and have these as my police force:

I have a riot squad as well. There's yet to be a riot in Brickenhead town but when there is all six in the squad will be worth their weight in plastic. I equipped the criminals in my town with Uzi's and RPG's. Amongst other things. My riot squad are armed too but seriously lacking in the same sort of firepower. At some point I'll be building a prison to house all the criminals in stripey tops and orange overalls. Which will leave just a few loose cannons, so to speak. Mob bosses and the like. It makes more sense for them to have the heavy arsenal. I'll be retiring all my millions of older police minifigs to be replaced by the new ones. They're better suited to fighting crime in a modern town or city. All we're missing is a few plain clothes detectives. And a police chief that isn't dressed in tan and wearing a silly hat. Some beat cops would be useful. Not that Lego should deluge City sets with police but if they're going to update the police they should at least give us a proper force with heirarchy.

I have four Police officers and two Police motorbikes (the third officer remains hopeful that the Police budget might cough up another motorcycle sometime soon) as well as a Police van. My town is very small and the citizens are well behaved so most of the time members of the town Police can be found hanging around the local cafe endangering their health with too many doughnuts. One day I will build a Police station for them, but until then the cafe seems to be filling out that role.

Glad you asked. My city was put to the test last fall during a colabertive exhibition. Due to an alien invasion all possible assistance was required to combat the threat. In the below scenes, you can see the following: Navy, Marines, Army, Special forces, United Nations, Ambulance, Firetrucks & Firehall, Police Station, Squad cars/bikes, S.W.A.T. team, paddy wagon, Hazmat team, Optimus Prime, Ironman, Batman, Spiderman and thats just on my section. more heros and responders on the other sections. (my city section first 3:18 of clip)

The whole ordeal was documented by the local news reporter and the tow trucks were kept busy clearing the carnage.

The A-team was there too but they tend to create as much trouble as they fix.

My lego builds seem to go crime free...however if the pirates are playing up, my Technic figs step in and use their sheer height advantage and sort things out!

To deal with the more miscreant elements of society the Legodtenstein Bundes Polizei have specialist units to deal with these problems.

For armed intervention such as border control, counter terrorism, siege or hostage situations and anti gang operations there is the Spezial Polizei Kommando unit, this paramilitary unit is the most highly trained unit within the Legodtenstein Bundes Polizei, The unit is equipped with a wide range of infantry style weapons as well as a small fleet of specialist vehicles.

For public order and crowd control there is the Riot Squad, this unit uses a typical array of equipment such as batons, shields and shotguns used to fire rubber bullets or bean bag rounds, the Riot Police also have a small fleet of specialist vehicles for crowd control, they are also backed up by members of the horse mounted unit during large scale events.
