[LDD MOC] "Redemption" Nebulon-B escort frigate

Recommended Posts

Thanks for your words.

Exactly, I ‘m used to LDD and starting to use other software just for the instructions it’s tedious.

To sell the instructions is something to consider if I finally make them. But the MOC is on cuusoo right now. My idea belongs in some way to LEGO, so I don’t know if it’s legal to sell it. And it’s based on an IP, so there could be issues with Lucasfilm/Disney.

Your idea only belongs to Lego when it finally gets accepted. And unless you sell it a hundred times, Disney won't bother you.

I never looked at making instructions, but could give it a try, out of the LDD file.

Good MOC !

It makes me want to try to build one. :)

A very nice rendition. I really like how you incorporated mini-figure details into the model. I wish TLG would make a model similar to yours. Great job!

That is one clever set! it would be absolutely worth buying, you added more features on the limited space than the ones we will see in the new star destroyer.

Ingenious. Minifig-scale interior bits and large enough to dwarf system scale starfighters. I'd buy it.

Hats off to your work, L-DI-EGO. I've tried to build one of these several times and I always end up junking them.

I apologizing for necroing this topic, but I had a question directly regarding it and felt like it wouldn't be wise to post a new thread about it if one already existed.

The question is: has anyone ever built this from some place like Bricklink using the LDD (which he made available)? What did it (ballpark) cost you?

I don't understand why this set isn't drawing more votes. It's such a hugely iconic ship that's tied to two movies. Plus, the rebels almost never get capital ships released.

I started trying to bricklink it, but never finished it. Some pieces need to be replaced, (This windscreen only exists in trans yellow), some pieces are not available in a lot of colors ( Hollow cone ) and the instructions generated by LDD are hellish.

Maybe I'll try again in a few weeks, but it is not an easy task.

I did the whole thing last night. The answer is about $150 USD plus shipping and handling (which will probably be on the order of ~$50). So, not cheap, but not exorbitant. I, too, was disappointed that he utilized so many parts that simply didn't exist -- I counted about 45ish as I went down the list. Most of them are minor issues (swapping out one shade of grey for another), though a few are somewhat glaring and would require dying/custom work or completely altering the color scheme of parts of the ship. In particular, the stern section is clad in (I believe) 16 grey windshields of the type that Lego used to use on old (circa 2000) small biplanes/aircraft, the closest of which color is either silver or black (and neither is available in large quantities or, for that matter, cheap).

I do still want to build the thing, but it's likely going to have to wait until next Christmas. I will say again: I'm surprised that the re-posted project (which has something like a year left) isn't garnering more votes. The Republic NEVER gets big ships, yet we've seen a parade of Star Destroyers over the years. Plus, it's not like the Empire didn't utilize Nebulon Bs. This ship looks very close to the original, it has a fairly significant amount of playability (which it arguably the most essential element in a minifig-friendly set such as this), and, frankly, if you told me it was a design straight from Lego, I wouldn't be surprised. This is the Lego Creations project that the Star Wars community here should be lining up behind.

Could you export the list for me?

Fantastic MOC, I really like your LEGO version of the Nebulon B! It looks totally feasible as an official UCS set. I'd love to see LEGO make this set for real, it would be a lot of fun to build, with no repetitions and lots of possible techniques.

However, there are two problems, which might have to do with why LEGO hasn't released a UCS Nebulon B yet: It is quite unswooshable, and due to the design of the Nebulon B, I imagine the model would be fragile as well. Pick it up without supporting the right parts with your hands, and it would fall apart. Is your MOC stable enough to be picked up? Does it have to be held a certain way?

I still hope they get around to making one.

Edit: I just realized, it's an LDD MOC, stupid me  So we wouldn't know how fragile it is, right?

   Hi,

   Lepin has already did it.

Sorry for restoring such an old thread, I got the LXF file LDD from ultimatecollectorstickers.co.uk as I really want to build this however uploading the file to bricklink to get a parts list to help me make a wanted list to buy the parts results in this -

The following items in the XML file are invalid or do not exist in the Bricklink Catalog.

Please fix the following errors:

  • Item No: 2714
  • Item No: 30361pb04
  • Item No: 3626bpb432
  • Item No: 3626bpb121
  • Item No: 3626bpb242

Any ideas - has anyone got a XML or something to help me buy the parts? I like this MOC and really wanted to try and build it.

There is quite a lot of pieces that don't exist on this MOC, or are quite rare.
I am in the process of building it and I updated the lxf with my modifications, but since I haven't finished the build yet I'm not quite sure my tweaks all work as expected.

Still, PM me if you want my lxf ;)

Ah well thats a bit of an issue then if some parts simply do not exist. I'll PM you with email addy - as any help would be appreciated, as this model is a decent size and part count compared to other frigates that are IMO to large. Thank you.
