RaincloudDustbin Posted January 31, 2013 As UKers are aware, there is a new Sun promotion on the way. If rumours are true it will be February half-term which is a holiday as usual. After collecting the last 2 Promotions, and trading most of them off, I am definitely looking forwards to this one and hopefully it will include the new Iron Man polybag as that is the last Avenger I require suit wise. I just hope that another paper joins forces with Lego. I really don't understand the problem; a polybag for 30p or 60p and you get a free paper. The whole Page 3 victory thing is ridiculous ( while they have a point about the paper ) I don't think that's the reason the promotions ended. I've heard a lot of rumours about the promotions moving to another paper, which I'm not sure about. I loved that we got the Polybags cheaper , but it was frustrating getting up early at the weekend, having to que with some of the worst and rudest people in the world and have to constantly watch people push in line. On top of that its a bit frustrating seeing a Polybag you really like but having to wait till the Sun promo to get it. I'm hoping they move to putting the Polys in shops, they are great stocking fillers and cool little gifts to put in cards. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

What little kid even reads the paper? So, who cares if there's exposed boobs in the paper somewhere... It's sometimes hard to tell if certain things are common knowledge in the community or not, but nonetheless, it's worth a mention in case we don't. Last week, for instance, after a concerted effort to convince Lego to stop running promotions in the Sun, the toy company confirmed that their most recent tie-in would be their last. (Lego also, it should be noted, said the partnership had come to a "natural" end, due to the fulfilment of a two-year marketing agreement, and denied the move was due to the anti-Page 3 campaign.) Source: guardian.co.uk The article, which is well worth a read, is about the experiences of Lucy-Anne Holmes running the No More Page 3 campaign, which seeks to remove the soft porn content from page 3 of the Sun newspaper. I spotted the Lego reference (I swear I wasn't reading it just for the Lego!) and thought it worth posting. It makes sense that the upcoming promotion is the last one. The running theory over at Brickset has been that they're getting rid of the leftover polybags from recent years, since the images all show old Ninjago, Alien Conquest and City polybags we've seen before. If this is the last one they're doing you can understand the Sun wanting to clear out the inventory. Anyway, good news I think. Lance Posted March 12, 2013 (edited) IMO, I think that Lego shouldn't really trust any newspaper with the whole "page 3" thing in the future. Why not spread out to children's comics or maybe just sell them in supermarket? But for the final promotion, that really does look lacking. Last year, the Cardiff Lego store had a full black bag full of leftover Sun polybags, and they just let us have one of each completely free!
