Dang, that's really disappointing. I was hoping for Dareth or something. Oh well...

Well, at least Palpatine in the "Dark Side" book will have all-new printing and a new skin color.

As I said-it is the only good (atually very good) book exclusive fig this year.

Aw man I was hoping it would be Nya in her new outfit. Well its one less minifigure I have to get. I still need to get Nya's new Samurai X minifigure.

It wouldn't have been too hard to give us Dareth or Nya in her new outfit, would it? Pythor would have been cool, as well, if they could fit his tail piece in the cover...

Good thing I still don't have Techno Zane, or I wouldn't be getting this.

While we're on the subject of books, we now have cover art for Comet Crisis. Also, on the subject of the graphic novels, the editor's note in the back of the tenth graphic novel says they will be reprinting the ninth one with the current Ninja costumes, which is a nice treat that I was not expecting (the original edition used their 2013 costumes). I doubt we can expect the value of either edition to skyrocket, but it's still more than I would have expected for an already-released graphic novel.

Oh, and Brickset has released their review of the Ninjago visual dictionary. Looks to be a good book overall.

Feels kinda cheap the re-usage of the Techno Blade. Understandable, for a character like Sinestro using his powers, but it's definitely something I didn't expect

Honestly, I'm rather impressed that the LEGO Group was able to find a use for that part outside the Ninjago theme, considering it's such a specific design. It doesn't bother me any more than the reuse of last year's elemental swords in this year's Hero Factory and Mixels sets bothers me. But I'll agree, it was pretty unexpected.

I also like the yellow light saber blade...but that's alittle off topic. :) I'm excited to see what Lego has in store for Ninjago 2015.

I want the new ninja suits from the last episodes

I wonder if they will have new variants for the ninja who already had the suits, just to make the figures in the Ninjago City set exclusive.

Very unlikely, seeing that Lloyd and Zane use their torso design from that scene in the Battle for Ninjago City set. If they've already got those out, then it's a bit unlikely that they would continue that design for the rest of the Ninja into 2015. Unless of course we're getting another surprising wave of Rebooted (which I wouldn't mind if it's done right).

Another wave of Rebooted is very likely since we still have the two finale episodes in October.

Not exactly.

Having seen the last two episodes (bad quality off the screen, with cursing children and an uncle that won't shut up!) there is very, very few vehicle sets that Lego could do if they were to do another wave.

A couple come to mind, but they're only three Nindroid vehicles (not enough sets for another wave).

Lego usually changes directions with Ninjago yearly, so that's another factor.

Besides, (and as an example) Chima has no new sets coming out for the rest of the year, even though their TV show will be lasting well into November.

I'm impressed too, but it's because it's such an unusual piece that it feels like cheap. All it is is a trans-yellow version of Zane's Techno Blade, including the hilt.

Regarding the armor, it's going to be pretty stupid if the ditch the armor almost immediately. Zane is almost certainly going to get new armor, because his was destroyed, but the Stone Armor is near-indestructible. That being said, costume change is near-inevitable.

Regarding Chima, it looks like it's going to retire soon judging from the plot details. Apparently after the Fire Chi is used to defeat the ice-men (or whatever they're called) there will be eternal peace in Chima. Not to say that they can't do what NINJAGO did, but NINJAGO did this at its apparent end, too.

At the Lego Ninjago panel at SDCC today, it was confirmed that Ninjago will continue next year. There will be a new villain and a new color of ninja. They will abandon the futuristic design for Ninjago city and the story will involve the ninjas discovering that they are not the only ones who have elemental powers.

That's about all they were allowed to reveal.

*sniff* *sniff*

I smell new mainstay characters, or an exciting collection of anti-heroes.

This should be interesting, seeing that this is the first time Lego will have two sides of the same minifigure "species" going head to head in many years. Well...outside of the usual "gotta catch the bad-guys" stories like City Police and Ultra Agents that is.

Not necessarily, it could be rock-beings, lightning-creatures, etc. But still, it sounds more like people vs people than anything else. Sucks that the tech stuff isn't going to stay, it would have been really cool. Also, no more Overlord :cry_sad: He was actually one of my favorite characters, Scott McNeil was a great voice actor and everything about the Overlord screamed "EVIL!". I don't "like" the Overlord, but the entire concept was played out so brilliantly that he became one of my faves. That being said, I'm looking forward to the new plot, because I didn't even think the new plot would come along the lines of other people having powers too. I would assume PIXAL is the new ninja, probably the purple one. So, there goes another fanon color (PHEW). Nya is still going to be a Samurai, and unless the Phantom Ninja makes an on-screen appearance or Borg gets cyber-legs, I doubt it would be one of them.

They said the nindroids aren't going away, much like the skeletons and serpentine never really went away. The show will just not have that Tron vibe anymore.

Now that's interesting, see as some spoilers from the last episode say otherwise. When the Overlord is defeated. All of the Nindroids deactivate. This includes Cryptor and the Mindroid.

However...

I would be more than happy to have Cryptor last through more seasons.

Say... Whatever happened to Kruncha and Nuckal? Maybe that's a better question for the TV show thread.

We don't fully know if the Overlord is gone. I don't think being frozen by Zane would kill him for good. Lloyd with his golden powers wasn't enough to kill him only weaken him and trap him in the digiverse. Plus the Overlord still has the power of the Golden Weapons. He's bound to return at some point. He is the Darkness that balances Ninjago's Light.

No, Zane destroyed the Overlord in the explosion from when his heart hit Critical Mass. Even if the Overlord survived that, there's still the fact that the Overlord would have been frozen, then destroyed. At the very least the helmet surviving means perhaps not entirely, but there's almost no feasible way the Overlord could return without introducing some new kind of power. Also, the balance of NINJAGO can shift. Think of it as a meter, whenever one kind of evil disappears a new one will appear to take its place, eg, the new characters coming out.

Regarding the skeletons, I doubt they're still around. We haven't seen Kruncha and Nuckal since Wrong Place, Wrong Time and the last actual appearance was in Ninjaball Run. While that could be due to all the technology advancements, the skeletons wouldn't have fit anywhere, not even being escorted out of Borg Industries. But regardless, I don't think we'll see them soon. Hope I'm wrong though.

Anyway, we had better move this to the TV show thread before this gets out of hand, lest we invoke the wrath of the Admin

This is off topic (and I apologize) but I have suspicions that we will be getting more Chima sets or even just a polybag with Panthar as Eris has post-apocalyptic dreams about Mt. Cavora falling and Panthar running out...

Er...Legends of Chima has been confirmed to continue into 2015. This isn't surprising.

I also should say that this post has literally no need here, as nearly everyone who frequents the Ninjago thread frequents the Chima thread as well. These kinds of posts should stay in their respective threads.

For those of you who don't know, a new Ninjago game for the Nintendo 3DS has just released. You can see some trailers and discuss it here.
