Sets made in LDraw mini contest

Recommended Posts

ldraw%20mini%20contest.jpg?dl=1

Introduction

Welcome to this mini Official Sets made in LDraw contest, to (hopefully) boost the production of sets made in LDraw. :wink:The idea is that you get points for the amount of parts (in the sets) you submit. Even with 1 set (with at least more than 100 parts) you even have a chance of winning, but with more sets, you’re chance becomes bigger.

The winners will be randomly choses from all participants, but imagane a large jar full with cards of the participants name: the more pieces, the more cards of your name in the jar.

That means everyone has a chance of winning when submitting at least 100 pieces in one or more sets.

Rules

  • Only models that are new to the index and the topic are allowed for the contest, so please use this topic to book a set(s), to avoid that someone just uploads a set before you (and your entry results invalid). You can view the booked/submitted sets in the post below. Don't forget to also take a look in the normal index what's submitted in the past!
  • Alternate models from a set will get the partcount from the file that's submitted.
  • I use part counts according to Brickset.
  • Please post your models in the "Official sets made in LDraw topic".
  • The deadline is 24 January 23:00 (or 11 PM) UTC

Prizes

The winners will be randomly choses from all participants, but imagane a large jar full with cards of the participants name: the more pieces, the more cards of your name in the jar.

Of course a contest has a prize, so this one also has a small prize. There are 5 polybags available: 30025, 30019, 30086, 30085 and 7808.The first winner may choose 2 polybags as first, the second winner may choose 2 polybags after him/her and the third winner gets the last one.

Good luck everyone!

You may use this topic also to dicuss the contest or ask questions.

You should have told me about this contest before I started uploading the Ninja sets, so I would have more to add.

I'll probably try to post all the Ninja sets. How long is the competition lasting? (If you said, and I didn't see then I'm seriously bonkers! )

Oops, I forgot to note the time you have to add models.

It's 22 January 23:00 (or 11 PM) UTC

Oh, and sorry about your already uploaded Ninja models, but I wasn't able to alert you... :sweet:

I'm the first to 'book' a set: I'd like to upload the 7134 A-wing fighter.

Only a question: 13 days are a bit short? :look:

(it were 14 days btw, it was launched yesterday  ).

That's 2 weeks, I don't think that's too short. It's a mini contest... :sceptic:

But since most people only came here today or tomorrow (because of the frontpage) and it isn't a too long period, I'll add 2 more days.

Just in case you didn't get it from my first post. Ninja sets are, officially, booked.

@Palathadric

Report, exactly, the setIDs of your booked entries.

Oops, sorry. Well, I'm not sure if I've posted them all already, I think I must be missing one or two, but I won't bother to book those I haven't posted yet...maybe later. :classic:

@Palathadric

Don't worry about posted/not posted. Report the whole list of SetID here.

The list is useful even if the set has been already posted, because some other builder could post the set because it don't appear both in the index and in the "booked sets" list.

I'm working on 8043, but I'm having a bit of a problem with aligning the parts that are not in 90° positions. I normally don't care about mini mis-alignments, but I don't know how that's looked upon here ? Technic sets are a tad more difficult to make in MLCAD imho, but I understand if you don't want to have files that are only 99% correct ?

Or, even better, maybe someone can show me how to turn an assembly on a certain pivot point ? maybe there's a plugin for this or so ?

In case it doesn't matter (or there exists a plugin), I'd like to book 8043, this should give me a boost to finish it ... I only have the boom left to do to be honest, but that's where the mis-aligments are starting since the whole thing is in weird angles.

This is one of the major reasons why I prefer to use SR3D for Technic models.

The might help you with MLCAD, though:

sounds like I have to finish all my started works...

Ok, so I book:

398 MSS Constellation

7635 4WD with Horse Trailer

10143 Death Star II

10174 AT-ST

10181 Eiffel Tower

10182 Cafe Corner

10184 Town Plan

10185 Green Groccer

10186 General Grievous

10190 Market Street

10194 Emerald Night

10196 Grand Carousel

10197 Fire Brigade

10198 Tantive VI

10211 Grand Emporium

10030 UCS Imperial Star Destroyer

10213 Space Shuttle

10214 Tower Bridge

10224 Town Hall

Are they supposed to be 100% correct? Some of them I started a long time ago, so special parts were not available back then. I wil have a look over the modells if I can replace my custom compensatory-parts with the now available official parts.

What about colors? Is there a color guide which color to use for e.g. light bluish gray, dark blue, dark red, ...?

some other bookings:

6381 - Motor Speedway

6384 - Police Station

6389 - Fire Control Center

6541 - Intercoastal Seaport

7835 - Manual Road Crossing

I would also like to book, if at all possible, set 720, model B. This is a Basic Universal Building Set with different (non-numbered) building instructions (all pieces for the building instructions are available in the set), so I don't know if this is allowed ?

Well, of course it needs to be 100% correct (except hoses (whic are possible though), stickers, decals and new parts if not available) :classic:

About colors: LDraw has (mostly) the same color names as Bricklink, so that won't be very difficult. If you really don't know, you can take a look here (sadly that page is a bit outdated, maybe I/someone else should make a new one, some day)...

Yes, if it are official Lego instructions, you can make the alternate models :classic:

Great, then I'd also like to book 720 / submodel A

Next to that one, I'd also like to book 6552 - Rocky River Retreat
