LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 10 Discussion

Recommended Posts

Okay, about the Mime not showing the extra heads in pictures, there is one explanation: It would look freakin' disturbing to see two heads next to him! And I am not choosy about whether the Rev. Soldier comes with a tricorn or not. If it does, it should be printed! Also, the "helmeted" Minifigures actually can't hold their helmets without pieces inside.

I wonder if they could do a black repaint-variant of the Revolutionary Soldier's torso to make a Headless Horseman someday. Add a cape, a black version of the one ring to secure it with no head, and give him a pumpkin and a saber for accessories. I'd be all over that figure.

Actually Minifigs can hold both the S3 Motorcycle man's helmet and the S6 Space Girl's helmet in their hands as shown in the picture (of course they can't wave their arms around like that, and the space helmet is actually longer than the fig's legs, but it has a clip area where you can have them hold it. The motorcycle helmet is a bit trickier, but still possible).

I totally disagree.

With series 9, I can walk in and immediately discard half the figs withou big pieces, because they aren't the figures I want. (Forest Maiden, Evil trooper, Cyclops, Good Knight) and then you just throw out the mermaids and Mechs and feel for the bow/shield with the dress.

Series 10 is NOT an easy series without the big pieces IMO. I'm not saying I won't be able to find what I want, it's just going to take longer. I have been spoiled by the last 3 sets.

Sorry but you're totally wrong.

This isn't about talking about which figures YOU want or YOU don't want.

Series 9 was more difficult than series 10 and I expalin you why,

Armors needed time to feel (you can get easily if it's the knight one, but you needed time to determine if it was the evil trooper one or the cyborg one, they were quite similar).

3 characters had slopes, and you actually disregarded that, but it was not easy to find the other pieces and determine if it was the starlet, the fortune teller or the maiden.

So you maybe will find this more difficult because of the minifigure you want or you don't want, but we're talking in the big picture, and it will be definitively easier.

I don't want this to degenerate into a back and forth argument (too late!) so these will be my last comments on it.

I did say that "I" would have a harder time and "I" could find the figures that "I" wanted, but I do collect most of the army builders which are the figures that are going to be highly sought after, and so by having big pieces it helps more people to find them. I also am stating all of his as my opinion. Other people may have different techniques they use which they prefer.

As I said before, with series 9 I can, in literally 2 seconds, determine if a bag has one of the 7 figures with big Pieces. This is huge whether you're collecting these figs or not! You have essentially halved your options right there. If you're looking for the roller girl, you can throw out the other 7 figures immediately. . Series 10 will not have this. Yes, you can find their weapons, but I've never found that to be a particularly efficient way of feeling for figs. Big pieces are the most efficient way of determining figs, and I'm sad S10 doesn't have many.

BTW, I have 30 Elves, 20 Dwarves, Aztecs and Galaxy Patrol, 15 Forest Maidens, Valkyries and Evil Knights, 12 Cyclops, 8 Roman Soldiers and Good Knights, 6 Manbats, Roman emperors, Conquistadors, and Red riding hoods, so I have a lot of experience with feeling for CMFs

Neither I want it to degenerate, but when I do feel I actually use a criteria totally different from yours.

And I can tell, since I have 40+ space marines, 40+ dark knights, 20+ elves and so on.

The problem is: I am telling :

"Given a certain bag, I can identify which minifig is in there."

You are telling

"Looking for a certan minifig, I can identify which bag contains it."

These are two different problems, with two different solutions.

So when you said you were disagreeing with me that's because you didn't understand what I was saying, that's all.

Right I am going to say

Given a certain packet I can determine which one it is

With S9 you could easly tell which one had bigger pieces

With S10 you might not be able to do this

But with S10 there are a lot of specialised different pieces. This MIGHT make it easier to some people rather than others.

Furthermore people often have different ways of working out which one is which like me for example I pick up one work out which one it is then I put it to the back of the box in a different row. Some people do other things and we all do this differently. With all series some people find it easy whereas others find it hard.

I will be buying more figs from this series than any other. There are also 3 pieces that I will want multiple copies of as well. I wonder if some of these pieces will ever show up again in the future.

My usual goal is:

Child comes at me and says me: "which minifigure is this?".

And I have to say which one.

OR

I go for army building.

I need 10 of that, 10 of this, 10 of that... I pick a bag, tell which minifig is, decide if needed, and put it reversed if I don't need it.

When I went for Forest Maiden, it was horrible. 2 only per box, three minifigures with a slope in S9... this stole me a lot of time!

With the newer SPIII helmets, the visors have to be removed for the helmets to be held well. The Race Car Driver's helmet is a matter of balance on the hand. A Headless Horseman would be amazing, though macabre! I never thought of the use of a black One Ring!

On Mr. Gold's page in the Minifigures Encyclopedia, one of the details pointed out is a chrome gold finish!

Series 10 is out in Hungary

I don't like the whole series, so bought only the mohawk, the amazon and the centurion.

The mohawk is great. Ha has different paints in his arms

The amazon is beautiful with her gold and brown colours

Maybe the best of the three is the centurion. He has fantastic paint. The plume is separate piece and fit to every LEGO helmet, with the hole on the top. So the helmet itself is the same that came with the legionary, just in a darker, matt colour.

Must. Have. Roman. Commander. You should have bought the Revolutionary Solider to dispell all doubts on the tri-corn.

where the heck do you see any flesh there?

Maybe you need new glasses....

Regarding the tricorn issue: the "doubts" if there is a tricorn included are more wishful thinking than serious doubts. There will be no tricorn.

The lighting in the first two pictures do actually look a little flesh-like. In reality it isn't, but that's just how the photo appears.

flesh skin cmfs???? :( oh dear god no

No, just not so good photos. I changed them.

how much is the cost of the box?

someone konws if i can buy series 8 at a lego store?

I don't know, because they selling them only per piece in these strings what you seen in the first photo. The price of a bag is the usual £2 $3 so a box is 2(3)*60.

Thanks for those pics, Llew, so we don't get the how-to-assemble-minifigs on the back, instead Mr. Gold - and he has a staff? That and the painter's bucket - two examples of non-shown accessories! Anyway this series is looking pretty neat. Can't wait for Whitefang's review!

I am SO jealous of you!!!! I can't wait for series 10! The staff will just make Gold easier to find, though... Medusa has a double-sided face! Yay!

Now that I saw the pic of the bags in stores, I just can't help wondering if a Mr. Gold was one.....ARGH!!!
